      @@SparklyGooch yeah but after the british copy them from the early american one ! Cutelry of the first settler came from europe, but as time went on they modified them to suite their needs. hudson bay knive weremad3 first by trapper using modified chef knives from France or England, then as the model caught on it was manufactured and sold by different cutlery shop from the old countries. Same with the bowie !

      @@SparklyGooch No, they copied Americans and then sold them to Americans and other countries.

    Thank you for a great video going over some basics for those of us that want to have some idea of what to do to start improving our ability to use a knife in self defense. I like your philosophy on the subject as well as how you presented the information. I look forward to more videos from you.

    Not bad and I learned a new way to carry larger blades, up to at least 7 inches and be able to sit comfortably.
    Until now, my best carry method for my Kobun and other boot knives is inverted on my hip, inside my belt with clip external, 7- 8 o'clock position.
    The Cold Steel Kobun has a 5.5 inch tanto blade. I simply draw down, instead of upwards and hardly have to move my hand to do so and can easily draw, unnoticed by others.
    You definitely get a thumbs up for me learning something new and effective(I practiced your draw with my Cold Steel Recon Tanto with 7 inch blade) draw technique. I like it. I like it a lot cause now I can conceal carry and draw out a larger blade, albeit noticed, but cause it's a fast draw, I am not too worried about drawing in an emergency.
    I also have a Cold Steel 1917 Bowie for when SHTF. Big freak'in Bowie! I'll just carry that one openly when the time comes. lol!
    I've learned much of my fighting techniques from Lynn Thompson's knife fighting videos, The Warrior's Edge series. Very good videos, I might add! Since then, I have taught and practiced my own techniques.
    Lynn can fight!

    Great fkn video 👍🏻💪🏻 Subscribed. I have a youtube channel and let me tell you its not easy making a video in one take, and you nailed it. I bought the Dbad War Bowie and the D'capitan companion (sort of a bowie) this week l, but its a 2 month wait on both. Cant wait to get out there and practice. I might break down and get the cold steel while I wait. Great content man 👍🏻

      Hey that's great thanks for the message I definitely endorse the fact that you buy a sofa called steel or some other Bowie in the meantime and then Terim while you're waiting. I've been there at coastal marauder is great for the price or trailblazer or Laredo but yeah definitely buy yourself one in the meantime I'm glad to see the people getting out there and actually going through the motions. Thanks for your subscription and there will definitely be more content coming

      @@jasonmowad2258 I love the bowie but I often carry a buck 119 which is technically a bowie but it doesn't look like one. it's a little small for what I call a booty I think the place is 6 inches or six inches and 7 in maybe

  • @valeriegogel4214
    @valeriegogel4214 Рік тому +2

    What would you say is the minimum length for a Bowie. Also what is the best length of Bowie to fight w? I have one that's 12 inches over all w a 7 inch blade. I realize this is small for a Bowie but it's still a good sized knife. It's easy to carry and maneuver

    • @jasonmowad2258
      @jasonmowad2258  Рік тому +4

      Oh that’s definitely a excellent size when I see a minimum for a Bowie that’s just 9 inch minimum play it is what it is it’s not my standard as what I learned but you have to use her as functional for you as in 7 inches is more than adequate if you know what to do with it. I’m just being super technical that’s all lol.

    I came to see Bowie techniques not get a lecture on gender equality. If you even have to bring it up you're contributing to the problem.
