A lot of times you hear lawyers talk about feeling like their client or even their defense is being targeted and sometimes it's hard to tell how genuine that is but I think in this case it is actually true. Going after an attorney for medication they're prescribed seems at worst reaching for something and at best incredibly negligent (and honestly that doesn't seem too likely).
Thank you for this interview, explains alot of the shenanigans going on in this trial
If you paid more attention to your life instead of others you'd be rich by now.

“The Criminal Lawyer” did a take on the attorney yesterday, I believe. Seriously, I live in Minnesota and ALMOST am tempted to do a crime just to retain and meet Mr. Rivera and, hopefully, genius son, Michael.

@@trevorprzepiora7926 what makes you think this guy actually has a valid prescription? You know lawyers lie right? Bruce is older and wiser than this fool
I think even this judge knows it was a trumped up charge against this attorney. That's why he severed his clients case and granted him bail. He's been trying to get it done for a year and after this incident the judge suddenly agrees.

Georgia code 16-13-75 states that prescription drugs must be in the original container and is a misdemeanor subject to a year in jail /$1000 fine. I looked at 3 sites inc GA govt site. It is a 2010 law, so unless it was repealed or changed, this guy doesn't seem correct.

Dudes smart.
In one swoop he made them look overzealous and they took a phone they should not have access to.
It’s ridiculous that people are expected to walk around with prescription bottles on them when every drug store sells little thin pocket sized medication carriers. When going about your day to day you only need to carry your dosages for the day. If some puffed up rookie tool bag cop wants to lean on someone over pills and your able to provide proof that what you had at the time is lawfully prescribed to you then everyone should go to court who comes across this nonsense. We run the risk of losing or being robbed if we walk around with our whole bottle of meds. SMH
I mean it is the law 🤷
According to O.C.G.A. § 16-13-75, possession of controlled substances or dangerous drugs by anyone other than the individual is only legal if the drugs are in the original container that was dispensed by the pharmacist.
I was almost charged with a felony for having a weekends worth or pills on me. They took me to jail, and still charged me when my girlfriend brought up the bottle. Luckily i got a good lawyer, but those cops were scumbags.
But it was prescribed to him soo it was actually unlawful of the cop 🤷🏾♂️

A courtoom is only as chaotic as the judge allows his courtroom to be. Fulton Co is already a challenge in & of itself, but with all the antics going on if this continues in front of a jury how can anyone get a fair trial when the focus will constantly be interrupted. This my friends is how drugs get smuggled into a jail. A lawyer exactly like this…meets in court…passes a few at a time….it happens. His story and his smile and actions just don’t match up for someone on the up and up for a client facing these charges.
Yep, and it was schedule II drugs. That’s exactly what was going on. You would think after he argued with the judge for 10 mins he would lay low.
He has a prescription, three of them; what more do you want?
It’s actually way more common for it to be the corrections officers and rarely an attorney plus he has a prescription for them. He just didn’t have them in the original container and I don’t even believe he had an entire bottle’s worth, probably just whatever he takes in the day. It’s honestly ridiculous. If he’s right about the law changing and not needing the container, then it’s a bullshiiiii charge.
Let the hate go
The man had a prescription for what he was caught with .....
The Judge allowed him back in court because he knows the cops screwed this one up
@@kimboslice5053professional attorneys know if they are carrying around controlled substances, then they should have them in the original container.. esp if they’re entering a court of law. I do the same thing w my meds, but mine aren’t controlled substances and I’m not going into court…
not sure why so many commenters on here want to knock the judge. this man is an officer of the court, and he knows what he allegedly did was improper. the bond was granted most likely because the defendant is back to square one and facing all the time it takes for the prosecution to restart the case thru no fault of his own and it says nothing about his guilt or innocence. Let's stop defending people who are detrimental to our community because you see them on tv or like their music and put that energy into fighting real injustice
With all the shenanigans going on in this trial, I can see why they thought he was probably bringing in the pills for his client.
All those deputies should be FIRED! Can’t wait for you to Sue!! 🤨

They did a dirty thing to that attorney. The cops should be charged with a crime.
He’s full of crap and should have known better than to be breaking the law regarding prescription drugs when there have already been issues surrounding drug transactions in the court room during the proceedings
@@valerierodger that part don't they get scan?
It sounds like the state is working hard behind the scenes to tank their own case.
This is the most infamous and legendary high profile trial ever.
Seems they were more worried about prescription pills than the case their crazy!!!
Just the fact that this judge is putting out punishements like 30 page essays and buying people lunch makes this a circus court. This case needs to be brought to a real court like the supreme court.
Actually, there are judges who do this. It’s not a punishment, it’s an alternative to punishment. The only thing making it a circus is fools like this lawyer
@Valerie Rodger right! He could sentence them jail time 🤣
@@valerierodgerit’s not an alternative to a punishment it’s an alternative punishment. The judge found them in contempt and their PUNISHMENT is to write the paper. To say it’s not a punishment is to say they weren’t found in contempt, and they would be required to do nothing.
Of course he doesn't believe he was in contempt, just as he didn't do anything wrong entering the courthouse and that his client hasn't done anything wrong 😅
Assuming he is not lying about being prescribed them and i feel like we'd hear something very different from the state if he is lying.
What exactly did he do wrong?
I watched this live when they were getting the defendants gathered in the back room. When this young Attorney told the Judge his client needed to use the washroom I thought to myself is he bringing in drugs for his client & using the washroom as a way to pass it bc he asked the Judge twice it just didn't sit well with me. Only days later did I find out my gut feeling that hasn't let me down yet was right or it just wasn't his day. I'm not accusing him as it's not my job to investigate I can only comment on what I was thinking watching this. Since when does a lawyer worry about his client needing to use the washroom he had guards he could have asked no wonder they became suspicious. Then I believe the fight broke out. I'll look forward to seeing how this plays out. Ontario, 🇨🇦
And it's national storage on certain controlled substances so the dosage difference is very common and explainable
It felt targeted. However, the issue remains you have people that aren't required to understand the law yet allowed to apply its enforcement as casually as they want.

He explained the law right in the video of your prescribed in Georgia you don't need it in the regular container
it all seems overly complicated...but that's our legal system
This upcoming trial will take months, but all those who pled not guilty will ultimately be found guilty in the end. The minimum sentencing guidelines explained to them prior to electing to take a not guilty plea are pretty harsh… Huge gamble for those electing to go to trial, especially with he plea deals reached with some of the defendants involved who will have to testify against their co-conspirators.
Everybody will not be guilty I promise you
I Strongly disagree the best case scenario for the State is a mistrial they have to much hear say statements there trying to introduce as factual evidence.
@@williewoods5595 I promise you that defense counsel will have a monumental task to say the least in defending their clients against Georgia's RICO Act and all charges against them in the indictment. Georgia's state statute requires a lesser threshold in order to prove a RICO Act violation than the federal statute. I do believe that the state will not have an issue proving this in court beyond a reasonable doubt in order to convince 12 people they are all guilty based upon evidence presented. I'm not even factoring in the other defendant's testimony which will be heard as part of their plea deals. This testimony will be extremely damning to defense counsel and hard to disprove as these individuals were directly involved in the illegal activity and/or had first hand knowledge of what was occurring over the past couple of years.
Did you hear the plea deals? For the majority of them they hung a gigantic number over their head and gave them FIFTEEN YEARS OF PROBATION. A short probation term is hard to complete when your a street person, let alone 15 years...those weren't plea deals those were traps...
He are you feeling about it 6 days into the trial? I’m curious
compare and contrast what level of evidence it takes to arrest a private citizen vs a cop. For you and me all they need is a cop accusing you of a crime to immediately arrest you.
