I really love the Come and Get It track done by McCartney Larry! It took him about an hour to record that while he was waiting for the other Beatles to show up for a recording session! ❤❤❤
When the anthology came out, I was so excited! And I still love it to this day. I was two years old when the Beatles broke up so I didn’t get to experience them back in the day. So having new material was beyond exciting. I’m so looking forward to that new song that’s going to come out next week.😊
Loved the Anthologies when they came out. It was the first time we'd wholesale outtakes and demos and at a time when bands didnt put out whole albums of that sort of stuff. We got some great tracks like Not Guilty, Come and Get it, Leave My Kitten Alone etc. Hearing Free As A bird for the first time was an astonishing moment, very emotional for people my age who weren't fans when the band were together, hearing John singing with the other 3 again. Have you noticed that it put the 3 booklets together in order the picture joins up across the 3
I remember being so excited when the Anthology series premiered on tv. After that, I had to run out and purchase all of the cd sets. And hearing Free As A Bird for the first time was a real treat. By the way, Larry, you're not old. 😗
Thanks Larry, for taking an inspiring look at the Anthology project. I enjoy the CD box sets most and come quite often back to them. The DVD box and the book are also on my shelf, but I read and watch them not that often. I feel that your video brings them back in my focus again👍🏻 The 6 CDs of the Anthology offered me a different and new way to The Beatles, a new listening experience for being a Beatles fan since 1982. - I preordered the 4 CD Slipcase version of the new expanded and remixed Red and Blue Albums and feel very happy about these releases. The only songs I miss on them are Free As A Bird and Real Love, two lost chances.- I would appreciate a remixed and expanded edition of Anthology 1, 2 and 3 in the future. But without touching the great artwork by Klaus Voormann. This is high class and gives the music a suitable visual counterpart.
The thing that's amazing about the Beatles to me Larry is the amount of great songs they wrote,it's hard for any musician and I'm one to come up with even one decent song and the Beatles constantly churned out and very quickly as well hit after hit after hit, where did all these great songs come from?!,they were simply incredible and oh so prolific, the Beatles were and will always be the greatest band ever Larry and I absolutely love Cry For A Shadow written by George and John,a mostly forgotten gem by the Beatles. Bob
Dear Larry, May I send you a present? Like you, I write. Meat For Tea, a wonderful literary magazine, just published three of my poems. One, set in 1980, is called HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN + SEAN LOVE YOKO, which I think you might like. The other two are about, respectively, Patti Smith and Charlie Watts. If you don't like to get snail mail, may I email it to you? Either way, god bless you. Your fan, Roger
I fondly remember when this came out and when I heard those two new songs, especially 'Free As A Bird'. It helped in putting the Beatles more on my radar. I already liked them, but I liked them even more after that. But still, I didn't end up getting any music from them until the last few years. I was just too interested in heavier music at the time and only got into softer music in around the mid 2000s!
I definitely remember when the CDs were released, unfortunately, I heard Free As A Bird on the radio just before Anthology 1 was released. At the time there were quite a few bootleg CDs on the independent market and I hesitated to buy any of them. They contained a lot of outtakes of studio recordings and some live recordings. I'm glad I waited because the Anthology Series is much better, although I wished there was a 3rd disc to all three Anthology sets.
Morning Larry Yes they were great when they came out, but I rarely listen to them now I agree about the live stuff, I skipped that too I loved the videos ( remember those?) that followed of the tv show
Hi Andrew. Nice video - I’ve pre ordered the new single on HMV exclusive red vinyl plus the light blue 7inch, I’m passing on the expended red and blue. I’ve got those 3 or 4 times on cd, how many more times do we need it?. Not worth the expense for those extra few new remixes. I can here them on Spotify, Cheers
The Beatles should have followed the lead of Bob Dylan and released a Bootleg series instead of the 3 volume Anthology albums. Not mentioned is the fact that "new" versions were created of tracks by editing etc
It's not even close, my favorite track from all the Anthology is Tomorrow Never Knows. Second might be Norwegian Wood. But I need to listen to these again, it's been a really long time. I made a compilation of my favorite tracks, but I don't even remember when I last listened to the whole thing.
When the Anthology came out I was not interested in the Beatles at all. I remember hearing Free As a Bird and being underwhelmed. Anyway, I picked up used copies of the 3 cd sets only a couple of years ago and I really like them…. I’ve matured. 👴 As for the new Red and Blue release, I might just get the Red one first and wait for the Blue one to go down in price. I am interested to hear what they’ve done with the early songs.

I remember this, I think I got them for my birthday when they came out. My mom also I bought them for her too! Great video Larry!

Psyched about Now and Then coming out soon.

I like that version of Come and Get It, so good! Nice Larry
I remember looking at those cd booklet for hours. Great photos. The anthology 3 version of helter skelter is my favorite
Love you, Larry. You have a beautiful soul.

Was lucky enough to land all 3 of these on vinyl marked down at a store in Pennsylvania.
I still love to listen to the anthology sets so much great music 👍✌️

Hey Larry…The Anthology series sets are a Beatles goldmine..Great video👍❤glen

I sold mine many years ago but did buy them back some years back. I don't play them much but appreciate them as history and how they developed.
Morning Larry
Yes they were great when they came out, but I rarely listen to them now
I agree about the live stuff, I skipped that too

It's weird to me how they haven't gotten the digi-pack treatment yet, since Live at the BBC did.

Not sure who Andrew is, but thank you. :)
Yes, wtf with those Past Masters covers?

I disagree with that.
Hi Larry, I agree with you about the live tracks. They should have released on a separate live album: “The Beatles NOT at the BBC.”
It's not even close, my favorite track from all the Anthology is Tomorrow Never Knows. Second might be Norwegian Wood. But I need to listen to these again, it's been a really long time. I made a compilation of my favorite tracks, but I don't even remember when I last listened to the whole thing.
LET ME TELL YOU I LOVE
JOHN LENNON
CHARLES HARRIS
As you say, they're not the kind of albums you re listen to, so I hope they don't re issue them, as is the rumour.
