      Wished it had gone for at least 2 more seasons, but Shannen Doherty made her signature big break as bad girl Brenda Walsh on "90210" and later Prue on "Charmed" and as they say the rest is history!!!

    I can't thank you enough for posting this show. I used to watch it with my parents every Sunday when I was about 8 (not to mention whenever it was in syndication). Such a great show, with so many episodes and scenes that I remember. Like everybody else I wish it had gone on longer. Thanks again!

    I’ve learned to cope with what happens in the last episode, so I deleted a few of my now-thought-to-be excess comments that “whine about it.” I left a few that are either the oldest ones, carry a funny joke or got an interesting yet helpful response which is true about one.

    I don’t think Jessie’s plan was really to “let Molly choose her own punishment.” Certainly she would have to approve of whatever she came up with. (Being like the FDA.) But I have heard of certain situations in which the parent, guardian or whatever just does this as an experiment, trusting the kid’s judgment because they know the remorse is real.

    A few things on the last episode:
    1. Okay, so Gus' girlfriend decides to take care of her mother. Why couldn't she just tell him that? She thought it was better to just break things off with no reason . . . when there was a perfectly legitimate reason to give him? What kind of an adult acts that way?
    2. Sorry - you steal from someone, then you return it; you may find the shopowner to be understanding. They might let you go without punishment. But they ain't gonna hug you after a two second conversation.
    3. Isn't the girl David is gaga over the same one who screwed him over once before - when she took his penny and put it on the railroad track? Why would he think things would be different this time?
    4. The writers got lazy with that ending. In the first season, after David goes through hell to get the dent on Gus' car repaired, Gus says "hmm, that car's had a dent on the side for the last two years!". They do the same thing in this ep - with the same amount of years - with Joe and the caboose in this ep. So the whole Joe subplot was just a refashioning of the previous David subplot.
    Maybe it was for the best that the show ended. These last episodes showed all the signs of a show that was heading in the wrong direction. At least we never got to see the show be awful.

    • @ScottNapolitan
      @ScottNapolitan 4 місяці тому

      Doesn't matter, because Molly ain't gonna steal in the first place, that's just as unrealistic. Everyone has faults, but Molly's just didn't include stealing, she didn't have a sticky-fingered bone in her body. This whole last episode was a mistake. What were the makers thinking with that one, did they run out of good ideas? Because that's when you should stop creating ideas. If they couldn't come up with anything better, they made one episode too many. And she and Bertha had a treasured friendship, Bertha would not have done the same thing first just to hook up with those jerks, leaving Molly torn between her treasured friendship with Bertha and Kris' treasured job. In real life, the real-life Bertha would have quit the stupid club the minute those b****es told Molly she had to steel the jewelry box from her sister's store. Better yet, like I said, she wouldn't have considered that pathetic club to be worth stealing for when she had a real friend. A real friend doesn't force you to do such things for your friendship. I almost want to blame THEM, but that's ducking accountability.
      Really, that last episode is such a bulls**t one.

    • @tomflorio3639
      @tomflorio3639 4 місяці тому +1

      @@ScottNapolitan I can forgive the contrivance of Molly's out of character stealing, because kids - even the good ones - can do something stupid when faced with peer pressure, and, let's face it, she'd seen her older brother and sister (also good kids) do some fairly reckless things, so her sibling role models showed her that even good kids can do dumb things as a part of growing up. But you hit the nail on the head when you bring up Molly's relationship with Bertha. (1) Molly stole, bc she'd seen her best friend had done it and gotten away with it, and she wanted to be with her in that club. So there's a little bit of motive for Molly to do it. But Bertha? Why did that sweet little kid steal, she already had a best friend and didn't need to! I realize everyone wants to be cool, but, to me, it's a farther stretch that Bertha stole under the circumstances than Molly. (2) Those two were joined at the hip. They did everything together. So now, suddenly, Bertha, who's been nothing but the sweetest kid and best friend to Molly, is hanging out with these other girls, joining their club, stealing stuff - Molly is totally unaware of it? You'd think Bertha would have said "hey, you know those girls X, Y, and Z? well, they have a club and they asked me to join. we should join it together" - or something. In fact, that probably would have been a more realistic approach to the whole thing: the two girls want to join this cool club, they're both faced with having to steal, and they have to figure out if they're going to do it. But, to have Bertha join a club that would forbid her to hang out with her best friend, and she goes ahead and joins anyway? Nah.
      I think we have applied more analysis to this episode than scholars have to Shakespeare and The Bible. 😄

    • @ScottNapolitan
      @ScottNapolitan 4 місяці тому +1

      @@tomflorio3639 Yeah, another good point. And because it's acting and not real life, the creators aren't always going to bother to keep the acting true. In other words, the same as what would be in reality. And I think you're right about how someone like Bertha would never have sacrificed her friendship with Molly just to be in some club that required its members to steal, on top of that telling them what it had to be and from where, AND trying to dictate who their members could or couldn't be friends with outside the club, even if they were pre-existing. That was a cult, not a club, And therefore if she realistically hadn't done so, Molly wouldn't have been inclined nor under pressure to do it, too. And plus, while I know nobody is perfect, I always still had Molly on a pedestal, not for perfection, but as someone who was above shoplifting. And at the same time you're right, Kris and David have done their share of foolish things, most likely from peer pressure, too. I suppose this would have been easier for me to handle if A, the original source of the mistake was more realistic, and B, the mistake was less serious. IDK.🤷‍♂😀

    • @ScottNapolitan
      @ScottNapolitan 4 місяці тому +1

      Plus, you have a point about only two seconds into the conversation. It may have just been a TV time saver, but it would in reality take a longer time to tell the entire story of what was behind it, the one that may just appeal to one’s sense of understanding and compassion. I personally think hearing the story as the owner, I would have understood, not condoned of course, just understood.
      And by the way, she was still nothing like that recurring 7 eleven thief in that video that went viral last August, nor the cameraman who was encouraging it, you know this guy was just taking a bunch of things off the shelf, making a mess on the floor, didn't care who knew about it, had no shame, just a self-entitled attitude, basically telling the employees, "F*** you, I'm taking what I want out of here without paying and you can't stop me." The cameraman was actually saying there was nothing they could do until the cops got there, and they proved him wrong on that! That was basically a way of jeering, because I think he knew the cops weren't being any help to them. As you know, the owner took matters into his own hands and resorted to beating him harshly with a wooden stick. And like I said, this wasn't just poor judgment, failing to think before you act, or as they say, to look before you leap, it was just pure indifference and self-entitlement, and on top of that, the guy was 42, an adult, and at that age people just naturally expect a person to be more mature and responsible. Sadly, that's not the case with everyone.😔

    • @ScottNapolitan
      @ScottNapolitan 3 місяці тому

      Plus, another thing, I don’t understand why “having/putting someone on a pedestal” is truly defined as thinking the person has no faults, but instead figuring someone not to possess a certain fault. For example there was an episode of Valerie that I watched as a kid unlike the very last one of Our House, in which Willie lets his friend Max talk him into taking the car out in spite of being underage and not having a license nor a permit, he hits another car, dents it and flees the scene, and when the cops come by the house Valerie thinks David is responsible for it. It’s not until the end that Willie gradually confesses to Valerie, and of course she’s very upset, not just about what he did, but letting her blame David for it, and even answering no when she asked him if he knew anything following it. The point is, into her rant, she tells him she always thought of him as an honest human being up until then. I think Valerie had had Willie on certain pedestal beforehand, not for perfection of course, but for someone who was above lying.
