Hey guys I just got into stern and it’s totally possible to get in with low stats here’s mine: 3.7 weighted gpa, 1350 sat, 5 extracurriculars including 1 internship and a job. This is extremely low for a stern student but it’s possible. Keep in mind I live in corona queens which is a hood ass neighborhood and I come from a single parent minority family tho. Just make sure to write a fire ass essay and supplement
Abiel yeah a medium or high income student who wasn’t a minority wouldn’t get in with those stats. Props to you for doing well despite your environment!
I am a sophmore in highschool and im so passionate about business and ive been working so hard to build my current 4.5 gpa in max classes but its still so scary, the essays, the sat, the extras. This is my dream school
good luck & keep up the hard work! Junior year only gets worse, but the development of good study skills and being disciplined to take the steps needed to achieve success make it so much easier. Don’t stress too much, remember to practice finding balance with doing things you enjoy and things that fuel your passion for business as well! at the end of the day, your mental wellbeing is the most important. Everything else will fall into place :)

Folks should keep in mind that, although some schools are not requiring this year's applicants to submit a GMAT score, if you're a strong test-taker, you could arguably be at a little bit of an advantage over other applicants if you do take the GMAT and submit a score that is above the school's median score for last year's admitted class.

Yes -- For sure. While Julia has done a great job in HS, affirmative action did play a role in helping her get to Stern. She is half-mexican, female, and has to work a job. She has the race, gender and "social level" card all playing into her favour. If you are applying from a private high school, it is unlikely you have the the "social level" card, and even if you have the other two your privilege will work to undermine them slightly. You will have to have higher scores and get better ECs to make up for this, trust me, as a privileged Indian male, I have same experience.

Maria Da Rocha thanks! i did, took general bio freshman year, general chem sophomore year, and IB bio junior & senior year (but it was an HL two year course otherwise i wouldnt have taken a lab science senior year because its not my thing)

I feel like since there much less kids applying, there would be less competition and knowing that I would have to commit to the school if I choose that path.
Aarzoo Maknojia thank you :) yes, i did not address that in my video, but depending on who you ask you will get a different opinion on how difficult it is to get in early decision and if you have a higher chance of acceptance or not. To my understanding, NYU does not necessarily “lower their standards” for admission, but they are selecting from a smaller pool of applicants so you are more likely to stand out. It’s all a game of probability and it is also school-specific and depends on unknown factors like what the admissions department is looking for. My coordinator discouraged me from applying ED because she believed it was a way to get legacies and athletes accepted (this might be the case for some Ivies and other top-tier schools, but i dont think NYU prioritizes those applicants) so in essence, its a crapshoot
