Love promenade rooms. People watching is actually calming and the room is not loud as people think. Our room was across Sorrentos so people watching was more interesting because who doesn't like to look at Sorrentos and when people are eating there. We had a connecting room so it felt bigger. Had a family of 11 so we took the whole section across Sorrentos. Loved everything about Independence except for the adult Solarium, very small and claustrophobic but the food onboard was delicious! Almost all the staff I found friendly and accommodating. The best parts was Fish and Chips on the pool deck, watching Grease and visiting helipad at night. Wouldn't mind going back on a freedom class ship, maybe not Liberty until refurbishments but Freedom is next!
Looks like you're having fun even though you solo cruising. I'm probably going to try some solo cruising myself this year, just to see how I like it. I've already went on my first cruise of this year about a month ago on Holland America's new ship and my next one is near the end of April on the Celebrity Apex. Can wait!
Lol Kennedy Space CENTER. That’s the V.A.B. building. Vehicle Assembly Building. It’s one of the largest buildings in the world by area. Fun fact, when the shuttle went up the building vibrated and made singing noises. Amazing to be part of that. I’m local if anybody wants any information.
I LOVE solo cruising. I came with paper and phone pics of all my documents as well as uploading them to the airline, cruise line, etc. Made it so much easier.

Glad I found this video! I am all set to do my eighth cruise coming up in Oct 2022, and my first SOLO cruise too! Doing the New England / Canada 7-day out of Boston on Royal Caribbean's Voyager Of The Seas, and I am totally psyched!!! I also got an Inside Promenade View room (8th Floor), which I've been wanting to try. No sense having a balcony in the North Atlantic in October!!!
Wow! Talk about deja vu! My sister and I went on the Independence of the Seas for our first cruise from Ft. Lauderdale in February, 2016. The cruise before ours was also a special rock themed cruise, which left about four hours late, primarily due to the fact that it took so long to get all of the stage scaffolding off of Deck 11. I will never forget getting out of the Uber at Terminal 18, and seeing a ton of people dressed in Hot Topic style clothes, standing on the curb as we got our things out of the car. I asked my sister, "Are you sure this is the right Royal Caribbean ship? Who are all these people that look like they just escaped from an Ozzy Osbourne concert?" When we got inside, we discovered that they had just gotten OFF the ship. At dinner the first night, our waiter told us that the previous cruise was insane. He said, "There were over 30 rock bands on board last week. There were people standing up on tables in here, throwing dinner rolls at each other, head-banging to the band that was playing, but no one complained because that's one of the reasons they came. It was crazy! There are some state rooms that are missing mattresses and some of the rooms have damage to them, which Guest Services is trying to fix. Unfortunately, some of guests were also the reason why we were a little late getting back to Ft. Lauderdale today. We actually left seven guests in Grand Cayman, and then we left three guests in Cozumel. We waited as long as we could before the captain said that we couldn't wait any longer."
We cruised in January 2015 on Freedom after one of the “rock” cruises. We didn’t get to board until 4:30pm!! 😭 we waited in line outside for 3and a half hours! Someone was apparently unconscious and locked in their room 😳So glad your experience was better and not super delayed 😁we are emerald members and my parents are diamond plus and we are missing the ships, it’s so nice of you to take us along with you so we can get a daily dose of cruising ❤️
I’m laughing at the escargot! I tried it in Paris on my first solo trip and they reminded me of mushrooms. They weren’t as drenched as the ones you ate. Maybe I just liked all the butter and herbs 😄
Pro tip! (well maybe simi pro) You can actually use that Europe/UK power outlet with an adapter that you can get from Amazon or maybe even wal-mart. I bought one for my Europe trip a few years ago, and now I always use it in my cruise cabin. It's nice to have that extra outlet.

Having been on Navigator, Liberty and Symphony - I think that the Freedom/ Liberty/Indy would be my favorite for a weekend cruise! Love the size of the ship -great fresh water pools - plenty of amenities (Escape room, laser tag, Ice skating, rock wall, flowrider, slides etc). With short cruises - there is not a lot of time for aqua shows or Broadway shoes like Oasis class…. Enjoy your weekend! Wish we were there! Our next cruise is April 15 on the Wonder of the Seas! Can’t wait for reviews!

So glad to see the Indy Again! I'll be back in May on her - Next weekend Explorer of the Seas! I know first hand about the testing at the port - when they rejected our test because it was not an email - we had to pay $105 to get one done quickly - thankfully we were still onboard before 11:30! We were incredibly spoiled in the Grand Suite with a Royal up upgrade! We really enjoyed all of the food in the Main Dining room! I tried to upload little 10 second clips while onboard and couldn't get it to go - I was able to watch y YOUR VIDEOS each and every single day though! Can't wait to see more! Wendy Lady
I'm on a repositioning cruise 3rd thru 16th class ticket (🤞) with my service dog (goldie) she is a miniature boarder Collie & we're headed for the Caribbean rainforest 😊..... Just did the 4 night solo on Independence 31/01-4/02, was great fun and will do again, but BIG TIP - I learned not to get the drinks package for short trip, we get on late 3.15pm (RC fault) and leave 7am day 5 but had two pay 5 days package for only 3.5 days. same goes for Wifi pay for 5 actually only 3.5. still lesson learnt.
Before the last refer, my wife and I were on the Indy and booked the cow room. Right above Ben and Jerry. It was a great room and came with a ton of perks.

Of the 3 times you've been on Dream you never did escargot on there? You have got to try next time you end up on Disney! It is our go too! They even give it to us when we go to animators or enchanted lol! It is an acquired taste! Hmm.. Just got a notification that we should try this ship, though we have wonder of the seas aligned for Christmas this year! Very much looking at a 3 day for the 3 of us for April 22nd, though we only got 1 and done J&J we didn't do our boosters. Did you get the drink package? If so how much did it set you back? We've only have done Disney, so kind of scared to do other ships, but our only choice at the moment.

These solo cruises or cruising with a couple buddies were MUCH better than the “relationship” ones.
Those are my favorite RCCL dining rooms, so elegant. We board the Anthem of the seas March 13th and can't wait.

Of the 3 times you've been on Dream you never did escargot on there? You have got to try next time you end up on Disney! It is our go too! They even give it to us when we go to animators or enchanted lol! It is an acquired taste!

Just got a notification that we should try this ship, though we have wonder of the seas aligned for Christmas this year! Very much looking at a 3 day for the 3 of us for April 22nd, though we only got 1 and done J&J we didn't do our boosters.
Did you get the drink package? If so how much did it set you back?
We've only have done Disney, so kind of scared to do other ships, but our only choice at the moment.

That ship is gorgeous & the room upgrade is really nice too - looked like lots of space 👍 a little buz is never bad - it's the only way I can loosen up 😂 I was wondering about the dining as a solo cruiser, but that table was nice - I could handle that. Have fun!!
