Just listening to this today. Better WAY late than never ! I've been a fan of Rockapella since 1991 watching Carmen Sandiego with my 1 year old. I've been fortunate enough to see 14 live shows. My kids are all big fans as well. Especially the old days

So glad I have all the Japanese CD's from "To NY" thru 2 versions of "Lucky Seven". I was also the one who brought Scott's "Bee Gees" album for him to sign at a show in Easton, PA a few years back, and he said he hadn't seen that one in a while.

Don't feel bad, Green Day's "Basket Case" is also Canon in D.

Surprisingly, so is the quintessential Guitar Hero metal group, Dragonforce, in their single "Valley of the Damned."

Yes, I’ve been trying to get the 2 records from Japan forever.

So happy to have found these hangouts! I have two questions, and I hope you can answer them on the next hangout!
I have heard three different versions of Rockapella's Shambala: a slow arrangement with Sean sharing lead vocals with Scott; a similar slow version that is basically identical to the previous but with Kevin's vocals swapped in for Sean's (there's a music video for this version on UA-cam); and the fast version on Smilin', which sounds like the same recording sped up with George's bass added. What's the story behind the three different versions? Are they all the same recording with different tracks layered in?
What was your experience like filming "The Biggest Little Ticket?" My niece and nephews love the "Happy, Happy Birthday" song, which has become a tradition for us to watch when celebrating family birthdays. Who wrote that song? When we saw you in 2019 for your Christmas show, Jeff mentioned the possibility of making the recording of that song available somewhere...any chance of that happening?
Thanks again for doing these hangouts! It's awesome to have the chance to ask these questions!

Hi Ben - Jeff here. Thanks so much for your great question! Shambala was originally recorded circa '95 as a bonus track on the album Primer, from the Sean/Elliott/Barry years. It was the only multitracked (non-live-in-the-studio) track on there. We made a promotional video circa '97-'98 with lots of songs from Don't Tell Me You Do (the original pre-label released Devil Baby edition at the time), and we wanted Shambala on it, so we swapped out Sean's lead with new member Kevin. That's the Kevin version you've heard - just the video version. I think it also made a lip-sync appearance during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. When it came time to make Smilin', years later, the sunny tone of Smilin' worked with Shambala, so we thought it would be fun to use some of the tracks in a new edition, with lots of members on Shambala, even subtly. Smilin' was also a crossover point between Barry Carl and George on bass, so we sort of "introduced" George in it.

Hey Jeff, I assume you're still webmaster of the Rockapella website, including the lyrics section. Where might one submit their personal transcription of Hula Holiday, the sole classic track sans official lyrics?
