The la Zouches came from the de Porhoet family of Brittany and they also gave rise to the famous House of Rohan through Alain le Porhoet “the Black” around the 11th century. I’m related to the Zouches through Richard la Zouche, 9th Baron Zouche of Haryngworth in the 16th century. His daughter Mary La Zouche is my 12th great-grandmother.
About a year ago I discovered my ninth great grandfather, John Hall was born in Prestop Park, Ashby de la Zouch 1550 and was employed by the Earl of Huntington as his deputy.
The S we used to get up to in that place at night drunk as kids and teens in ashby. Tiny town with nothing to do but drugs and drink. Waiting to be old enough to work for the junk agencies around the factories. Ashby is touted as a rich town. It has super rich living there. It has homes worth millions hidden around there. Yet the housing estates are almost ghettos especially willsley in the 90s nobody had nothing. Moving the Westfields felt like moving up in the world even with the worse rep Westfields had. But then the jungle took the cake. How can such a town with good reputation hide its skid marks so easy? Its the worst town I've lived in absolutely nothing there. I've lived north south east and west after leaving and I know for a fact its the worst town I ever lived in. All that money but all that greed. Then they wonder why their homes are targeted not the housing estates. Millionairs Row is the parklane mayfare of ashby. Mayb they could fund some clubs for kids and set them up better to improve the other 60% of the town.
Hello, I live in Ashby firstly Willesley, and have just finished a house in Measham Road. I have to disagree with you wholeheartedly, I believe Ashby has allot of offer especially as a business owner I am finding a real can do attitude of the people who work there, our warehouse workers love coming to work, and also the town has such a friendly vibe to it, we wouldn’t have spent the money we have on building our dream home from scratch just completed in Measham Road, we haven’t been targeted once, but we do have a excellent security system. We absolutely love Ashby and never have had any issues here. We have brought up allot of property that we rent out as well and it’s been a real excellent opportunity. We to find the town somewhat affluent and this is why we just finished building our dream home in Measham Road Ashby:

He was employed as deputy at the castle and married Winifred Bainbridge in 1573
