  • Abandoned by her family for her embrace of Catholicism (including by her Catholic father), Elizabeth Prout resolved to spend her life caring for those similarly abandoned: by society, by family, by employers, by everyone. She cared for the poor in the various epicenters of the Industrial Revolution, particularly the hard scrabble city of Manchester and it's infamous to this day slum of Angel Meadow. Many people alive today are the descendants of those who benefited from Elizabeth's care.
Take a journey with us as we look at Elizabeth's earthly pilgrimage and see what made her such an uncommon individual and candidate for sainthood.
