This is my style of desert off road camping. I go solo most of the time in my trusty Jeep XJ. Ice chest, extra fuel jug, sleep on the ground. Don’t need no fancy “overlander” rig hauling everything including the kitchen sink. I love your ol’ school style. 👍🏼
Zdravím z Czech Republic. Krásné svobodné cestování bez politiky, s legendou jakou je válečný Jeep. Máte na to možnosti v takové krajině. Hodně šťastných zážitků přeju.
Same here, I spent a lot of time on the rear fenders (until Dad bought a rear seat). I’ve been to Colorado with the Jeep 3 times now, it’s got so many neat things to explore.
Back in the early 70,s I had a 53 cj3b and would go all over the mountains on old logging roads in w. va. my home state. Now as an old man I have a 54 cj3b that looks like a new penny and only goes back and forth to town. But the feeling and the like for those jeeps has never went away.
That is great. How many 3B’s were made? We have a 53 that has been modified pretty extensively. Our youngest son wants to have it someday. Would probably be smarter to just buy a finished one…….but what fun would that be.😆

I daily drive and wheel a 2 door JK. I love the thing. When it comes to watching videos I’ll watch y’all over a newer Jeep like mine any day. Looks like great fun.
Thank you for the nice comments. They are a lot of fun, you definitely want to enjoy the overcoming adversity part, because you usually have a little on each trip.
I’d love a long, unedited wheeling video inside your jeep showing your pedal work while off-roading. It would be so cool to see! All the stalls, restarts, and cool dance moves you have to do to navigate the trails.
Haha, I might just have to do that. I’m thinking it would be much more exciting to have someone that still has the foot starter, add in an engine that won’t idle on some hills and you would have a very busy foot show. 😂😂. I’ll see if I can’t put something together for you all. 👍🏽
@@old6quart I think they would both make good videos! That would be amazing, could literally watch hours of that kind of footwork off-road. Please make this happen. Would love to see your footwork too!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I remember when I was in high school and wanting to drop a V8 into Old 6 Quart. Thankfully I didn’t have any money and Dad was all about keeping them as close to original as possible.
Stock is the way to go. All those stupid "enhancements" of lift kits, oversize tyres, and souped-up engines only detract. The original Jeep is an amazingly capable off-roader even in bone-stock condition. Drivers on this episode quite skilled and their vehicles very sensible and functional, just right for the job. Very well done!
I agree with you, but personally I like a little wider wheel, nothing stupid, like maybe 8". Reason for that is because in one of the episodes. one of the jeeps smacked a rock with his hub...pretty hard. That could've ended his day right there. For the last 52 years my brother and I have always run wider wheels than the stock. This was an awesome series, would love to get involved with a great group of like minded folks.
Amen- I have a stock M38A1, tall skinnys, no lift, 5.38 gears, and she's such a sweetheart. Named Katy, for Katy and the big snow. For my hand throttle I have a vernier throttle from a Cessna 185, infinite adjustability and stays where you put it, so if you need more or less, you just roll it on smoothly without shock loads on components due to your foot bouncing all over the throttle. 5 bucks from an airplane junkyard too! So really cheap!😃
Yes, still guys out looking for gold. We drive through an active mine on the final day of the trip. I’m not sure if there is any footage of that or not. I’m still putting together the next two days of video.
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is one of my favorite times every year. There is a group on facebook (the go Devil reenactment) or something close to that. They will post all of the information on there. Usually early spring time. It is open to anyone with a “legal” Willys with a Go Devil engine.
@@old6quart Thanks so much for the reply. I just got back from the Colorado fall color tour in Nathrop. There were 69 flat fenders and basically 3 different trails each day for 5 days. Greetings from America, we are very blessed to be free to explore our great country in the old Jeeps.
Brings back memories. I'm now 67 grew up in the back seat of a 48. My parents were members of the mile high jeep club in Colorado.

@old6quart I was very fortunate to see a lot of beautiful country that has been closed to four wheeling now.
I remember them...
