Although I have not heard from my sister in over 20 years due to a family falling out, I still know this was her favorite piece of classical music. To Anne, where ever you are. Tom
Write her a letter and tell her how you feel. It’s scary but life isn’t a rehearsal, when we get near the end of our lives we regret the thing we did not do and not the things we did…
This piece takes me back to when my family was still alive and the magical times of youth with easter egg hunts and 4th of July cookouts in the 70's when I thought as a child everything was okay. The laughter, the stories, and the feeling of belonging that had died by the time I was 15. I am 52 now and while there have been good times, there is much pain that has lingered. Therapy helps and love persists, and recently loosing my Shih Tzu of 14 years (Bailey) has driven that home even more. As I read today and it was beautifully put "Grief is love that has no place to go."
Well said. I have memories like that myself. Happy and sad at the same time. This,I feel, is the Everest of music. With either a piano and a lone cello or a full orchestra, like this recording, it is the perfect music miracle. Thank you, Johann.
Don't despair. All will be restored. We are living in the dash between wound and remedy. We will eventually get what we want or we will agree with God that we never really wanted it in the first place. "Grief is love that has no place to go." But add to it, "For now."

January 10, 2025 This piece is really really powerful ❤ Today I decided to listen to Pachelbel Canon 2 times a day, waking up in the morning and before sleeping.
Indeed this collection is a wonderful series of presentations of one of the greatest of musical masterpieces. Thank you to those who performed and those who produced this amazing collection.
A world-class masterpiece. And it shows how diverse Pachelbel's music can be interpreted. Great compilation! But who invented this gentleman on the cover? An AI? Because there is no portrait of Pachelbel. But, that's how I like to imagine him!

I listened to this so many times on CD,s. It alights my energies and does some magic to the brain. Such amazing souls that channel beautiful sounds. A true gift from the Universe.
Pachelbel wrote it as an exercise for his students. He would rotate in his grave in laughter if he knew that this simple canon would become a worlwide evergreen. He wrote fantastic organ music but everyone wants the canon in D.😅
Sounds like the Jean Francois Paillard and the Paillard Chamber Orchestra version. Pachelbel was all but forgotten and his Canon was laying in a dust bin when Jean Francois Paillard found it and decided to record it for an LP record. It proved to an amazing hit and resurrected Pachelbel's long forgotten reputation to the most frequently requested classical music piece.
