Does Rysanek have an even bigger voice than Nilsson?

No. But Rysanek's was nonetheless very big. It sat higher, though.

Nilsson's voice was like a trumpet and the higher it went the more powerful it got. Rysanek's voice was wide and huge around E to G#. Going higher than that it was what Germans call "schlank" - it became narrower. Nilssons voice hit one like a catapult but Rysanek's voice kind of soared more.

@@Yves_Ka I think it's a bit hard to say definitively about Rysanek because her technique was so idiosyncratic and in some ways unschooled. Nilsson's was textbook.

@@ER1CwC true. As much as I adored her (I heard her often) it was the most uneven voice and she had "uneven" days. Her sister Lotte had (when she was younger) a much more traditional technique. Unfortunately Lotte's voice went downhill very early (around 1975)

@@Yves_Ka She had an electricity though that one can feel even through speakers. I'm sure the energy was palpable live. And even though she had pitch issues, the top sure was glorious! You are lucky! I think Lotte was solid and had a similar timbre actually, but didn't have that extra 'something' that makes a star.
