Give the durian a chance, Holly despite all the bad rep it gets in terms of how it smells. It's really a fruit that one develops a taste palate for. I love it personally ♥️ And there are so many snacks based on it e.g. durian cream puffs! YUM! Enjoy all the bazars, night markets, floating markets, the culture, the yummy yummy food, the beautiful architecture and the Thai hospitality. Have a safe and amazing holiday, Holly & Matthew! ♥️

Bangkok tap water is actually (officially) potable, has been for very many years, but it's not always the nicest tasting and most people don't drink it if they can afford not to.

Fruit wise, try dragon fruit. It’s super yummy and I snacked on it loads. Just stay away from Durian fruit, it stinks

10:10 - Yes, Thai fruit carving is a thing, and they can be very elaborate indeed!
10:49 - Boiled water is perfectly safe to drink. That's what locals do, as filtering isn't enough.
It's stuff straight out of the tap and ice cubes (because you can't be sure what water they used) you have to watch out for.
It is a lot of plastic bottles, but just do the best you can - buy the biggest bottles you can find (2 litres or more), and if you have a stainless steel water bottle, you could boil up a full jug before you go to bed, let it cool overnight, then fill your bottle up before you head out for the day.

The "tour" may 1. Not really be 20 baht, it was just a ploy to reel you in 2. Be nothing but a series of visits to souvenir stores, where you will be subjected to high pressure sales tactics, in the hopes that you will cave, purchase the tat on offer, then the driver gets his commission.

when travelling together to bkk, always put half and half in cases etc..they are noted for losing baggage.

We had a broken case as well
On my solo trip i was also pressured by those hustlers outside the grand temple area to have a city tour for 20 bhat even though i knew the hustle they were selling. But i'm to brave for my own good and decided to just go for it for the lolz after the 3rd time getting asked. Actually had a fantastic tour of about 4 really cool temple sites that most tourists won't go to as they just go to the main temple. Had a good chat with him saying he gets a commision from any purchases someone makes in the shop he takes them. He took me to a gem shop but i just had a quick look as i'm not really into buying gems/gold/diamonds etc where the people at the source gets exploited while rich people wear them for some nonsence social symbol. after taking me around and droping me off i gave the guy a little tip for his time even though he didn't expect or ask as he was just a normal nice thai guy trying to make some money and just giving him 20 baht felt wrong to me for the service he gave me.
ahhh that’s such a cool experience and a fun memory!! we didn’t have much time in Bangkok but hopefully I’ll go back and maybe brave a tuk tuk tour 😉
April is the hottest month of all. It could reach 45c for some Northeastern and 40c in Bangkok. I lived like 10 minutes away from Khaosan road and I salute you from the bottom of my heart to walk down the street in a climate like this lol. me? keep the aircon open 24/7 until May, the beginning of the rainy season.

I would consider buying a water filter 😊 its nice when you are out on a 3+ day track and there is no way of buying water and it can come handy while traveling to more exotic countries also ☺️☺️
yes, I did look at these but I didn’t know if it actually worked or not / whether it was worth it, but I’ll definitely consider getting one for my future travels 😉
I’d recommend looking at the SAWYER SP129 Squeeze Filter, the water from it is up to the EU drinking water standards and it is very lightweight, also I’ve heard just good things about this one 🙂 enjoy your travels!!! 😍
