Crazy efficient subwoofer! Over 150 dB on less than 275 WRMS per driver. One of these will still perform well on almost any budget monoblock. A small monoblock on an SQL-15 and a small 4-channel powering components would be a very nice daily-driver setup. One huge positive is that factory/OEM electrical in most vehicles is gonna be capable of providing sufficient current for a small system like this!
Lol-ol-ol I've seen you guys use those tubes as jackstands and coffee tables damn near everything that needed a solid base under it around the shop and here they are back in action YeeYee!
What size box did you build.. and did you add bracing? I have a pair of SQL12s.. wanted to build as small as I could sealed ideally while still getting clean low bass. Powering with I think 1200watts each rms.
Thats very impressive. Glad i have two SQL 12's sitting in my bedroom. Debating on what type of enclosure to build for them. Going in a Honda Civic. Im currently running two Pride M12 12's with an audio legion al2500.1 amp.
I just have one question? Why is yhe ambient noise level between 90 and 100db between runs? Seems like it would be lower but maybe i am missing something.
Every vehicle varies, and depending on freq., optimized per meter Location. On average, going from sealed on the glass, to meter in the passengers kick, and driverside door open, or window down, you can gain 1 to 3.5 Db. Extreme cases, can be more or less. But a 2 to 3Db gain is the most common i have seen.
I was thinking exactly the same. That's like a dark room where the enclosures are. Yeah it's in a vehicle alright. But the vehicle's inside a freaking warehouse for Christ's sake. With not much people but a bunch of beer drinkers
Hello! I'm a new commentarist on your channel, but i've been subscribe such a good time ago and i have a HUGE question for my personal project... Please text me back, i'll appreciate so much if you did
@@lunam7249 False. "that db drag meter shit" is just a dmm running to term-lab... It is just as accurate as any dmm..because it IS a dmm. Reading comprehension or not bothering to actually watch the video is your issue here. The measurements in the term-lab window for volts, amps, and watts, are MAXIMUM AMOUNT for each individual value measured during the test...not the measurements all taken together at one specific moment in time, as you seemed to be assuming the measurements were all reflecting the specific moment wattage peaked.
I respect the engineering and the ingenuity involved, but I do not understand the this whole non-musical burp for SPL. I know its a hobby, I just don't understand the money and work involved in transforming an entire vehicle into basically a huge speaker enclosure just to hear a bmmmmmmm for 2 seconds.
well climbing mount everest is more stupid.....this is a "hobby" for the guys that were not "cool" in high school.....now out of high school and NOT getting bullied by the 6'8" 300 pound 12th graders..they can be "cool"...and ya its "cool"...these guys by the way are PROFESSIONAL... they make money and get paid and sell stereos and speakers, so it helps the business
Truth the competitions should rules should be you have to play for at least 60 seconds and play at least 4 different frequency's 10hz apart during the minute.
This is what SPL competitions do. The goal is to get the loudest measured in SPL. The numbers on the laptop is the SPL level. They play the frequency that the cabin of the vehicle resonates the loudest at. Even some of the "cool" kids in high school compete, not just the "uncool" kids.
Clearly this video is for burp enthusiasts only. I personally would be more interested in seeing what they score on music. Still impressive outcome from this test.

Your subwoofers are much better than the ones in this video, for spl. If your subwoofers were in the ideal enclosures/tubes, and used in this blazers enclosure, they would be louder!
Those stereo integrity subs for sale. I need something my car got stolen and took everything even the wire all my tools were in there too it's all gone
I will never ever ever understand burp builds. I respect that you're having fun and breaking limits, but I will never understand it. IMO a complete waste of a vehicle, wood, speakers, amps, time, and effort. If it ain't music, it's just a noise, and if you wanna make loud noises there are much cooler and easier ways to do so. Like shooting guns, setting off fireworks, train/ship horns, or drag racing. I'm curious what you think they can do in a music build. I have an 09 single cab Ranger that I want some tunes in, but there's literally ZERO space for subs. I want an SQ-ish 3 way component front stage with DSP that can keep up with a 150db sub stage. And I want said sub stage to dig into the upper to mid 20hz range without taking up more than a 16.5x40x36 space (half my bed) for a blow through. And due to the height restriction of 16.5, I'm probably limited to 12" dimensionally subs unless you think I can fit 15s on an angle. I also don't want to spend more than about 1000 on the subs, whether that's 1, 2, 3, or 4 of them, and I also just DON'T want to mess with more than 4 subs in general. Any idea what you think I should build? I like the crisp sound to every cycle in a given frequency that sealed and sealed-adjacent (4th order, front horn, IB) boxes give, and there is no way to effectively seal a sub cone to the bulkhead/wall of my bed, so it'll have to be some kind or port-through rather than a cut-through given that the max height of the cut hole is gonna be on the order of about 8"-10" (So realistically, I'm probably stuck with either a 4th or 6th order bandpass of some sort, or maybe some weird quasi-infinite baffle bass reflex box)
Big up to all you guys for supporting one another...

Good call about the imagining. It's hard to balance at those SPL levels.

For $500 more and only double the RMS, it almost seems like the more thrifty idea to just run 3 of these... lol
Damn youve been busy! That wrap looks sweet! And the imaging was great!
That's awesome I have 2 of those exact subs for my music room they sound awesome in small sealed box power with a xls 2002

are you going to look into replacing the windshield and windows with a thicker glass/acrylic?
Will it be another obsidian audio?
Obsidian was a budget brand, stereo integrity is definitely a premium brand.
Miss my obsidian 15s but hopefully soon I'll have two of these SI 15s ;)
Hey derrick where can I get some of the Sundown wrap?? That would look cool inside my ports in my boxes

How many click you got on deck left when you asked? 170dB
Dude, is the whole truck the enclosure?
Dang this Is well fitted to the cab !
How many amps did it pull?
If i stuff my shallow mount SD 12s with polyester fiber will i get more bass?
Background noise is 98.5~100.5dB? That looks pretty high. Maybe I'm misreading that meter's measurement that shows just before the SPL test starts...
