👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
Seeing a composer give props to this genre and being unafraid of the beautiful evolution of this music is a testament to how far “heavy” music has come and still so far to getting accepted in the “mainstream”. Reviews like this bring it a step closer.
The whole Greyview album is phenomenal. It was my AOTY for 2020. They do such an amazing job of setting that ethereal, floating in space sound and then just layering all the heaviness on top.
AGREE
Agreeee AOTY 2020
Hello fellow "Greyview 2020 AOTY" person :)
woooooow, was not expecting this. great technical, progressive band. the sun sleeps made me cry when i first heard it, that chorus has this thing about it. it sounds pessimistic but the riff in the second half with the floating belt vocal make it sound optimistic, hinting at climbing out of the deep hole that is addiction
dementia or the hypnotist, both by erra, are just two of their many masterpieces. highly recommend
Me too man, most metal doesn't make me tear up but this song does and it's his voice.
Y'all, definitely need to check out more of this bands discography. They are legitimately my favorite band of all time.
@@nsjohn130 im late to the show, but another amazing band that made me tear up was shields
Might be the best metal band chorus of all time imo
@@Matt-yj1lz for me that would have to go to Prisoner by ANKOR. it's beautiful. Elysium by IA is kinda close tho
Their new single called shade astray just came out, highly recommend!
I saw the name of the band and the title of the song I just knew what I'm getting into and wasn't disappointed. Even at 39 discovering new music is still such a rush 🤘
I'm 53 and doing the same.. Alot more musical joy aheD young man! 😁🤘
Then go right ahead and check out their other albums. They're amazing.
Their stuff from the album ‘Stillworld’ (2016) is absolute magic 🪄 🎼 🎶 ✨👂🏼
Still one of my favs
Honestly every release of theirs is amazing, I'm partial to Greyview but hearing Naturehold, Nocturne, Dead Roots, Celestial Floods just to name a few I'll steal tear up :D
Stillworld was their prime sound IMO
@@ZoltanMarossy 💯👌
Stillworld is a gorgeous album
The sun sleeps brings tears to my eyes every time. It’s dark, deep and full of emotion. This whole EP was a masterpiece. Everything this band touches is enveloping.
Yo this band rips. Really cool riffs and structures to this band. Would be cool to see you get back to more ERRA, loathe, and periphery. Also would love for you to check out some other contemporary bands like monuments, sentinels, and landmarks or Polaris. Cool stuff as always geebz!
I second more Erra Loathe & Periphery.
Please and thank you 😁
Haven’t checked out much sentinels but also totally with you on Polaris Monuments and Landmarks
oh yeah 1000%. considering how much he loved the ambience, effects and engineering on these tracks, ERRA and Periphery are great picks. Can't say I've got much into Loathe but I'll give them more of a try!
Also seeing other Polaris fans just makes me happy - best band on the planet right now imo
2nding all of this, particularly Polaris 😍
Iirc he already did Two-Way Mirror
It's always "love this band, but listen to this!". Man STFU and enjoy what he makes a video on
They have an instrumental titled "Solace" that legit makes me tear up every time I hear it. My advice, lay down, put some head phones on, close your eyes and just listen to it. It's honestly one of my all time favorite pieces of music, especially metal. They had a different screamer/singer on their first couple albums and they were equally great then.
As if the music itself wasn’t already amazing, have a look at the lyrics and what they are about and the greatness of this EP just skyrockets. It’s an absolute masterpiece.
Ahh sick! I'm a HUGE Invent Animate fan and this is some of their best work in my opinion. I'M STILL HERE LOL
EVERYTHING of theirs is some of their best work. Lol Everything they do is so good.
I have had this piece of music on repeat ever since it came out. The atmosphere is just phenomenal!
One of my favorite bands for many years. The original vocalist was amazing and even the new one is a perfect fit. Love these guys so much glad you got your introduction but you gotta check out their old stuff sometime!
The interlude is so beautiful. As If It Never Was makes a few tears squirt out my eyes if I'm not on top of my shit lol
This was my ep of the year last year. In my eyes, this is just perfect music. The ambience. The lyrics. The emotions. This is beyond music to me 😭
Crazy Chino Moreno similarities with some of his vocal stylization. I love how much of a journey this song is!
Wow, this band caught me off guard 😀 Incredible nuances in their musical arrangements, plus this song had so many different elements that constantly changed but flowed so smoothly together. The vocalist reminded me a little bit of Spencer Sotelo of Periphery in different places along with the rhythmic dynamics. Overall what a great band and listen. I'm pumped and ready to listen to some great music tonight because of this band. This made my day! Thanks Geebz for another great analysis & breakdown. 🤘🎸💚 P. S. I forgot to tell you I'm still here. I truthfully watched you till the end 💜🤘💯
If you liked this song check out the hypnotist by erra.
@@preston2636 Wow, this song was just wicked! Thanks for the suggestion Preston 🤘
Great musicians. Does anyone else endlessly replay their instrumental versions? I have a playlist with Greyview/Stillworld instrumentals and it really gets me in the zone.
I still have MASSIVE respect for the vocalist Marcus Vik though. He has an outstanding voice.
Yup lol. And all love to Marcus, he’s great but I much preferred Ben English
I came up on this band only a few months ago because i liked their cover art and was immediate mad at myself for not knowing about them soon. These guys go hard
YESSSSSSSSS!!!! I've been waiting for an Invent Animate reaction since you started!
saw them live with Silent Planet and Currents......all 3 bands were perfect and absolutely amazing
Same. Where at? I got to enjoy it in Portland, OR.
@@JB-zu5gb Chicago
Props for going over this masterpiece. Subscribed. And yes thats the same vocalist.
My favorite band! They're so good. Every album has great songs!
One of my all-time favorite bands. This EP is phenomenal, and I cannot wait for their upcoming new album.
Just saw these guys for the first time in Chicago without ever hearing them and they were a pleasant surprise! Sick band and nice dudes
Loved this analysis, i really feel the same thing about the “punching through a membrane of reality” with the ambient aspect, it’s such a strange floaty feeling lol. You should check out “Dark” by this band, the song has an ambient section that feels so huge yet it’s so simple and minimal at the same time. Good video man!
Since this whole mashup is technically the 3 songs, if I ever hear one while shuffling my music library, I HAVE to play through in order.
woahhhhh I was NOT expecting to see this with Geebz.
So glad you checked these guys out!!
This band is phenomenal. Been listening to them for a few years now and will be seeing them live with ERRA/Thornhill/Alpha Wolf in August. Cant wait.
Seeing that same tour on Friday. Let’s gooooo
Same ill be there aug 2nd
They just dropped a Masterpiece of an album! It's called Heavener
Ryan Len Johnson did the production on this EP.
I would argue that their last full length album has even slightly better production, produced by Ryan again and Randy LeBoeuf - recorded at Graphic Nature Audio, the best production studio for heavy music in the world.
SO glad you checked them out
"I'm still here " lol
You should check out Sleepless Deathbed by Invent Animate, as well! I think you'd really enjoy it!
Need more songs from ERRA from either their Augment or Impulse albums. They're gold.
I second this
I have listened to this EP sooooo many times
Glad you're onto Invent Animate! Been one of my favourite bands since Everchanger was released! Nocturne: Lost Faith and nearly every other song on the album as well as Stillworld are classics for prog metalcore. Some of the catchiest themes and motifs in their records.
weirdly enough bands in this genre/scene *very* rarely have actual keyboardists, the only one i can think of is a band called Make Them Suffer
This bands hits me in the feels! Love it
I’m still here😊 Perfect video as always❤
I remember suggesting this a long time ago on a post you made, it's awesome to see you've found your way to this amazing song :)
It's great to listen to your thoughts and how you just know music
One of my favorite bands for awhile now, really stoked to see you did this. Love your reactions and insight
One of the bands that recently rose to within my favorite top 5 bands. Thanks for receiving this masterpiece!
This was so great! I was able to tell very quickly just how appreciative you are of the power of music, and you seemed to be very in tune with those precious subtleties that Invent Animate are so good at crafting. Thank you for doing this!
I'm still here, your thoughts at the end of the video are so relatable, music so often just takes me away, sometimes to a very melancholic place like this EP. But man this EP really is a grower! Great listen my man! 🤘
This is incredible. I’m so excited to watch this video!
Great review. Commentary had me laughing at times. Keep on keeping it real this is fire content
Love your analysis and vibe. Found you from this band
Loved this reaction. Youre definitely up there with the best!
I was surprised you decided to check this out. Invent Animate has been my favorite band for years. I love this band so much and forevermore. Great to hear your thoughts on these guys.
I was just wishing you would react to them yesterday, how serendipitous!
I'm still here Geebz! And I totally get how you felt removed from reality, so to speak, when you focused on the song. The first time I sat and listened with my eyes closed it was unreal. So glad you were up for the journey! Speaking of journey, Eye of God from ERRA. You won't regret it and I will literally do a backflip the day I see you get around to it. Cheers!
Some songs/bands I would recommend
- In Regards To Myself by Underoath
- Seven Years by Saosin
- Boneyards by Parkway Drive
- Marianas Trench by August Burns Red
I like your choices :)
Discovered invent early this year when they were on tour with ERRA, saw them live! Immediately became one of my favorite bands! Highly recommend seeing them live!
Absolutely great review of this amazing band!!!! Im still listening to these two songs every day on top of their other killer tracks like NOVA and MONARCH and FIRESIDE!!! you explained and dissected the song so well. I agree about the ambient qualities of this arrangement and just how well orchestrated it was in the studio. As a former semipro musician I understand what it takes in the studio getting every aspect of the song recorded as well as possible. I'll definitely subscribe to your channel because I like how well you get into each aspect of the song!! Thanks again brother 🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹
geebz: looks like there's two songs merged here
fans/memers: there's three, actually
Band is so underrated. Lots of talent in Invent Animate.
I'm a little late. I am from Port Neches and when I was in highschool we had a huge explosion of local bands play with half the student body meeting up every weekend to hang out and watch. I have never heard of them until recently. It's like they watched our scene and went else where to start their career. I can't find any traces of anything. I asked friends who had bands and hung out at our usual spots and they don't remember them either. I'm very confused.
One of my favourite bands, I'm so happy to see this!!!
Got to see this band back in April. They played this among others and were magnificent.
Their new song Shade Astray is unreal
these guys are insane wow
Banger band, nice video :)
YES!!! so glad you did these guys finally
Geebz, they released a new song yesterday and it is absolutely phenomenal
Love "punch through membrane of reality" because that's how unreal Invent Animate is with all their music
Was still there
Please do ALLT. Their new ep is INCREDIBLE production and composition and very unique
Also this is a good but complex invent animate track. All their songs are great but a track like “hollow light” or “white wolf” would be a good start for someone who enjoys this style of music but may seem alittle hard to digest at first..
Yes sir...give Thall what it deserves
How about ALLB? Awesome new sounds until Divisi
I love this band ❤️
Love ya surfer dude
Saw these guys open for Erra last year. They played this in it's entirety and blew me away. Was a stacked lineup in general
I'm still here. Great review. This band never disappoints
What the fuck!? I never thought you’d do one of my favorite bands haha!
Invent, Animate!!!! The Kings of Ambience!!
The Sun Sleeps , As If It Never Was.
One song in three. Three songs in one! IA is super underrated! This EP is so beautiful and sad! Two perspectives (one about the drug-user, and one about the family member/or lover of the drug-user).
These guys are so talented and have very great ways of making music and metal sound so cool and different. They are my #1 faves, tied with ERRA, for a reason!
And don’t worry Geebz! I’m always here (till the very end).
Nah mate, while they have good ambience, Vildjharta takes the cake as the top album, arguably the best of all time with their recent album release. You would do yourself a disservice by not peeping it.
🤘 love the breakdowns my man! On a side note would love to see more shpongle! How the jellyfish jumped up the mountain is a good one 👍 look forward to more videos 🙂
I’d love to see you react to their track “Dark” from their last album. It’s the first song off the album and one of the hardest songs to follow in general considering how “mathy” it is. Can’t bob your head on the first listen. But man they really pulled it off and it was the perfect intro. They just released a new single that’s amazing as well if you’re interested! Had to subscribe after this one! You’re awesome dude!
Thank you Geebz
Oh hype, I love this EP. This should be a good watch.
The dinosaurs and turtles are a VIBE, and also chronologically accurate because Turtles are known to have originated around 230 million years ago during the Triassic Period, and lived alongside dinosaurs through and through, until & beyond the extinction event 65 million years ago. Theropods that survived evolved into birds including jungle fowls / chickens, and turtles evolved into the one's we know today. Sorry I got carried away. I'M STILL HERE. I enjoyed your personality, you're a youthful soul, subbed. Aloha!
Thanks for choosing this one, it’s one of my favorite bands rn.
Peep Vildjharta's Mastadden Under Vatten album
That "lo-fi " drum sound is actually super easy to achieve when recording in a studio. That was just the room sound recorded with a matched pair of mics to pan hard left and right. Always gives you a super cool sound for "toned back" drums
YESSSS!!!!! One of my all time faves!!!!!
First time hearing these guys great song sick...
I'm still here! This was super fun
You should check out Thornhill from there 2019 album The Dark Pool. Specifically the song Where We Go When We Die.
I'm still here. I want to hear/see more.
Geebz man! Been loving the reactions. Would love to see more Animals as Leaders, Primus and stuff off of L.D. 50 from Mudvayne.
Awesome reaction! 💪🏻
Awesome pick & reaction 👍
Oh man this was so cool!!! Loved this. Geebz, Sojourner - Perennial has to be one of the top tracks on your list. Get ready for your jaw to hit the FLOOR LOL 🤘🤙
Can't wait! Have a great weekend, Adam!
@@KeyOfGeebz you too my friend 🤙😎 it's a great Friday so far
it's actually technically 3 songs, the comma counts as its own song on Spotify etc :)
Monster track. These guys are awesome.
So glad to see you listen to this band! Love your good vibes, your videos always make my day. Would love to see you listen to the band Greyhaven!
Edit: Saw these guys live recently and they absolutely kill it! Gonna see them again next month :)
Damn, Invent Animate. This is a pretty deep cut, Geebz. I recently saw these guys open for Alpha Wolf and Polaris. I absolutely love this song/EP.
About to finally check them out next month open for Erra 🥵🥵🥵
Punching through the membrane of reality is an incredible way of describing it.
Best song by them tbh
I'm still here, thanks for showing me this band, super cool. If you like this kinda stuff I'd highly recommend the song "Reptile" by Periphery!
The singing voice reminds me a lot of Johnny from Nothing More. First time hearing this band, I dig it.
This band is for real🖤
Hell yes. I’d love to see more hardcore bands like SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY. Or knocked loose
totally!! knocked loose would be very cool to see
Yes. Mistakes Like Fractures please.
you should check out their song “Luna” so good.
