Hi Chris, Thank you! What a great video! I loved listening to you and watching you build up the painting. And yes, you get beautiful bright red and orange colors by mixing a little yellow with the red. And how nice is it to finally apply the highlights to bring the whole thing to life, so satisfying haha!

For what it's worth, I thought "Margaritaville" was one of your best. The overall composition, the perspective, the late afternoon colors, and the outstanding shadows on the sand make me wish I had come to your website before someone else bought it. But I trust there are more great paintings to come. 🙂
Thank you. I have more plans for such paintings. I've got some more beach paintings that I'm going to be doing on larger canvases, but they will be more expensive.

Chris, awesome story telling, you have a gift there. It's about the painting....but it's not a out the painting. It's the delivery but it's as much the editing. It comes off spontaneous....but it's crafted beautifully. I've had to slow down my binging, I was missing too much. Rewrote this line 7 times, done trying. I'll just say there is more in you videos than the casual viewer will appreciate, but it's what draws them in and holds them.

I don't want to suggest that you copy a famous painting, but I'm willing to suggest you create an original inspired by the style of a great artist.
William Hopper's"Nighthawks" suffers from over-exposure. But "Gas", "Early Sunday Morning", and "Light at Two Lights" are excellent examples of how his paintings are dominated by mood. Perhaps these or one of his others might inspire you.
And I have it on good authority that you should start by painting a base color on your canvas. 🙂
