This worked perfectly for me - opened up the body of the dryer and found a broken belt crumpled on the floor inside. Only tricky part was figuring out how the belt loops around the tensioner pulley and motor pulley...had to pause and rewind a few times where he shows taking the old on off. Great video! Also really appreciated not having to listen to his life story for 5 mins at the beginning...
This video is 10 years old and still completely relevant to my situation lol, thank you very much! My old dryer lives on!!!
You just helped my 15 year old son fix my dryer and you probably saved me $200+ in a service call. Thank you so much!!!
Wow this is the video that keeps on giving even after 12 years Thanks for your knowledge
I have a completely different dryer, yet this video helped me immensely. I guess the basic mechanics are the same. Thank you so much for posting this vid
Excellent video! It took me longer to drive to town and back than it did to complete the repair.
Some models have more sheet metal in the front making it difficult to get two arms in (or for people with fatter arms). I found taking the drum out, then pinning the tensioner arm behind the blower motor housing first. Second, put the drum back in. Third, put the new belt on the drum, then on the motor, then on the tensioner and lastly push the tensioner back to release it from the motor housing worked.
Thank you. I love you!!! Been struggling for almost an hour!!!!
This video helped me a lot. Had to watch it a few times because y'all kinda rushed it. Especially when putting around the pulley. I replaced my belt last night. Thanks
My belt just died on my ge dryer.Sourced a belt but was in doubt how to get it on. Thanks for this, I got it!
We're glad you liked it!
You guys are awesome and these vids are lifesavers. The part where you put the drive on is more difficult because the drum is still in and you have to do it with one hand. I ended up loosening up the left side wall by taking out a few screws. That allowed me a little more wiggle room.
Never repaired an appliance before. This was super helpful.
We're happy to help!
Fixed dryer. My belt was snapped. Thank you 😊
You make putting the belt over the idler pulley soooooo easy. Still fighting with mine. I will win,
Just got mine on! I came down to the comment section to see if anyone brought this up. Seriously, what in the heck! Not sure why he's able to easily get two hands back there, I could only get one hand, two is literally impossible. My model is 100% identical to his yet for some reason I have more metal obstructions blocking my way in on the right hand side. I tried lifting the drum, ect... I can't even begin to describe how difficult that was. I had to do it all from the left hand side, using one hand. Took me an hour and a lot of frustration haha. Hope it all worked out for you!
@@DJayAce4 I ended up lifting the entire dryer up onto a laundry basket and sitting cross legged in the floor so I could get both arms in. That worked for me though my wife thought our cat clawed my arms. It’s quietly running as I type this.
Thank You for the Video, I was able to get the belt on an dryer working again. I would not have had a clue what to do without the video.
We're happy to help!

This helped, thanks allot Repair Clinic.
George Troop No problem!
How do you zigzag the belt without doubling it around the pulley? Do you have a picture of how it should look without the drum in the way?
I had to pull out the drum. my arms were too short to reach under but when I took out the drum the belt was in 2 pieces. now I can't put the new
belt on!
On my model you have to take the drum out to even see down there. Now I have a problem getting the drum back in with belt on..
Thank you for a very enlightening video. Can you help me? Can you write the belt dimensions of the GE DDE5211VELFA model?
Thank you
I can’t see where the lever and pulley is any tips???
This video helped-me! thank's
I have an older DDE5700GBLWH GE dryer, is this video the same way I need to do to replace mine?
After replacing this belt, is it normal to hear a little bit of a dry rubbing sound from the place where the drum and the front door panel slide against each other? Everything went smoothly, the belt doesn't squeak anymore. Thanks!
+Achilles The drum rests on the front drum glides and if they are wearing out you might notice more noise then usual.
Where can I get a replacement belt
I have one with the same model number but it's different looking than this one and seems that the screws are on the face to take the front off. it's a cube with no top control panel, the control panel is on the face but I can't seem to find any tutorial for this type. Thanks.
+skinnyminnow If the controls are in the front then normally you remove the top panel. Look for screws along the rear of the top panel.
My dryer doesn't have the screws that are inside the door. It has tabs on the handle side😢
Merhaba giysi kurutma lastiklerini nasıl temin edebilirim ? Yardımcı olursanız sevinirim
The new belt is grooved one side, which one faces to the drum?
Rib side down @ 1:30
Please let me know where to find a video to replace the belt of a GE (electric) dryer, model number: DBL333EAOWW. Serial number is: MA763126W. This is a different model and there is an opening in the back too.
We do not have a video for that particular model. It shouldn't be too much different from this one though. Do you have any specific questions?
***** I was trying to see where the spring hooks up to.
I have a old GE dryer "ddg7280 dde7200." I replaced the belt exactly like it is suppose to be but it is still way to loose. The belt that the appliance store gave me seems to be the exact same size but it just does not fit right. Why is it still so loose?
+Christopher White You may not be moving the tension pulley over enough to put the tension on the belt.
I have the belt on, but it's not spinning fast at all.
I NEED HELP FAST. I replaced the drive belt but now the dryer won't start. Any ideas!!!
+Carter Gordon The dryer could have a broken belt switch that did not get positioned properly or you forgot to connect the door switch wires.
I don’t understand the zig zag formation part
Hello dear i'm form India i want ge dryer belt
My GE dryer just broke the belt. I looked and I didn't see any screws holding the top on on the front of the dryer like as shown in this video. Could the screws be elsewheres or maybe it don't use screws? The model number is DV223EA0AA
We cannot find the dryer breakdown from this model Please recheck the model number. We can’t give you any ideas until we can look at the parts breakdown.
***** I goofed it should be DVL22EA0AA
jmcinvale It looks like your model has clips that hold it down. You will need to use a putty knife or similar flat blade to push in on the clips to release the top. It's identical to how it is done in this video: Whirlpool/ Kenmore Dryer Disassembly with Lint Filter out the Top
If this doesn't help we also have a diagram we can send you. Send us a message at jhull@repairclinic.com and we can get that to you.
***** I found that out yesterday afternoon. I decided to start prying as I had figured it must use clips since I didn't see any screws.
mine is quite old after I replaced the belt it seemed to get hotter then normal and I smelled a bit of burning any ideas?
+josh gibbons Hm... have you cleaned your dryer's venting system recently? It's critically important to clean the venting system regularly (about every six months) to ensure proper airflow and prevent the dryer from starting a fire. If the airflow is restricted, the dryer may overheat.
No I haven't do u have vids on how to do that aswell?
This video is terrible. It leaves out several steps. Most importantly why the belt failed. Most likely because the dryer is garbage and the idler pulley fails and shreds the belt. But you should try to fix the dryer so you understand first hand it's garbage and not worth fixing. Just by new one of different brand. It's made in canada anyway.
GE is top quality. Do your research before you make dumb statements
Are gas dryers the same replacement procedure? Thanks.
Should be very similar.
Thanks
