I'm not saying the women dancing ballet was bad per se, but she was obviously very beginner in it, and the women dancing hip hop obviously was not. I don't believe this was a fair comparison seeing that the women dancing hip hop was doing many tricks and stunts with her body, and all the ballet dancer really did was bourree. If an actual professional ballet dancer came in she could have done fouttes, etc. which would have really shown how hard ballet is. This is not an accurate representation.

What I was trying to express was how they were at very different levels of technique and ability. yes but i think you know how hard is ballet and it is so much more work than hip hop it is really specific all the body is requested and even if it seems delicate it's a hard discipline who requires a lot of energy (i don't blame hip hop dancers) but obviously in this video the hip hop one is way better

Ballet is far more physically demanding and 100% a full-time job if you want to do it professionally. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours of standing on your toes is what will get you a job.
Jade French Ballet is not as physically demanding. I do hip hop on a competitive level, and trough all our performance, we have to be FULLOUT. That means extreme mouvements, up and downs, jumps and intense cardio. On top of that, we have to have crazy facial expression and not show that we're tired one bit. you have to look like it's a breeze when you're dying inside. i did ballet and its hard but after my performance i'm not put off breath at all, but after my hip hop competition, i almost threw up. That's how much i gave my energy.

Prima ballerinas are stick-thin to ease the difficulty of the dance. There's a difference between barre and performance. I took ballet classes as a child and, no, they weren't difficult. Ballet is far more of an artistic sport than a dance anymore.

You don't have to be but it helps a lot if you are. If you are only just starting ballet you don't need to be very flexible just work on your flexibility everyday and you will be fine.
