Thank you for that lovely compliment and for watching our content! We love giving you a resource to grow deepen your appreciation and ability for Chinese painting, art and culture!
I just learned of OAS two days ago and have found a wealth of information to learn to paint Chinese art. Dr. Yeh offers so much information in such a brief span of time. Master Yeh's videos are full of awe and beauty. I have so much to learn and am looking forward to the journey before me.
Thank you for your comment Baruch! We are pleased that you have found us and have such a pure appreciation for Chinese Brush Painting. Let us know how we can be of service!
That was beautifully executed. I love to paint bamboo though I use many different brushes. This was pleasant because it was unpretentious. Well done. Happy wishes.
Oriental Art Supply sells larger wash or Hake brushes. They range in size all the way up to 4.5 inches. These are the most fool proof way of doing larger trunks using the technique that Ning Yeh is demonstrating in this video. You can find the brushes here: orientalartsupply.com/products/wash-brush?_pos=1&_sid=1d68b1973&_ss=r
You can use watercolor. Of the elements that make up Chinese Brush Painting, I think the paper (rice paper) and the brushes are most critical to the essential to the experience. Many colors will work. Not all work well with rice paper but most are fine. Try it! If you have any issues let us know!
did you use some special paper or smooth paper like (fabriano)? for example thanks a lot , i hope you answer me :( im beginner its sooo beautiful paint
