- Mt. Rose Scenic Highway drive through the Sierra Nevada Mountains from Reno up to Lake Tahoe in Nevada. We begin in Reno and head west on Nevada Route 431 (Mt. Rose Scenic Highway), climbing in elevation as we make our way up to Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, Nevada. From there we drive south along the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe and end at Cave Rock Tunnel in Lincoln Park, Nevada.
Most of this scenic drive was filmed in late September. The last few minutes of the video were filmed in May.

"AED", it sure seems like you've got a "Jones" for Cave Rock Tunnel--I guess that I do too! This is about the 8th instance of you returning to it.
Coming up on the Mt. Rose/Slide Moutain Ski Complexes, I was so gratified to see Aspens almost growing in Utah-/Colorado-style--that is--pure Aspen slope side coverage forests. The best that the Sierra does, are closely spaced copses, whereas in the two states that I named, many vast slope sides, sometimes entire MOUNTAINS, are given over to pure Aspen forests, no conifers allowed! Those provinces will give New England a run for its money, so that on windy days, you'll have a blizzard of intense gold and, sometimes a brilliant scarlet.
As you were shooting the Lake, did you really notice the spectacular color gradations of the waters, sweet creamy greens for the shallows, and intensely dark indigos/purple-blacks for the deeps? And some of the enviro-fanatics--"Green Meanies"--tell us that this isn't so. I think you could still see a white dinner plate at 80 Fathoms. The United States Coast Guard is the Maritime Law of the Lake, so, I'd guess here you could count 'em as a "Blue-Water CG", here, as on the oceans.

It had been a couple years since we’d been to Yosemite, so we wanted to record some other places around the area while heading over there and Mt. Rose was on our list. Lake Tahoe has some of the most spectacular colors I’ve seen in a lake, the blues and green and combinations of colors are amazing to see. Truly a one of a kind place. It looks great! Is this filmed in winter? And almost everything I shot in the Taihang Mountains of China was a withered yellow.
Most of the drive was filmed in late September. The last few minutes were filmed in May.

Went on the same route in middle of May 2022 and it still snowed going uphill
There was definitely still snow in the area around Tahoe in May after such a wet winter!
