I watched season one of Redwall today (Saturday, October 16, 2021) and really rooted for Matthias. He was brave and overcame his fear to protect the abbey from Cluny the Rat.
GRIDSALEENS7 I was born in 1994 on December 18 and I saw it lol it was the best show ever but the snake scared the hell out of me can't even say his name without being creeped out lol plus I agree the cartoon shows now do suck like teen titans go lack of imagination I say what what lol
Hilariously random guy Not to mention the new Ben 10 reboot that came out recently that has obviously had very little to no thought put into it and is just a blatant attempt at a quick cash grab.
If im not mistaken, they are not, it makes me so sad, they could have done so much with the show, i loved it, even though the last episode makes my cry :(
***** Yeah, plus the size thing, i mean, squire julian from the first book is huge, i mean, Mathias can fall into his mouth! Whereas in "Mossflower", Julian's ancestors, didn't feel like they were so large, with Martin being able to fight Tsarmina and all. They felt like they were more of a badger kind of size, at least the show's badger size. That's one thing in redwall, the sizes, that could really differ depending on how you imagine them. I personally imagined the show's sizes when i read through the books, except for some of the larger birds throughout the series. But you're right about the plot holes, and i forgot about the fact that they made Luke go after Badrang instead of Daskar. But it's a real shame the series differed so much from the books that it made such plot holes. It would've been so much more amazing (i still love the show to death though, as well as the books) if it had been done a little differently, and had actually been completed lol. Plus the whole thing about adding two episodes in a 13 episode season that have NOTHING to do with the book's story, again, i dont mind when shows/movies/games, arn't exactly like the book, but it was just really weird that they did that, when the seasons were rather short.
I was first introduced to the Redwall series with a book called Outcast, in which main character was a badger. I was in middle school at the time and only just recently reintroduced to it. I wish I had grown up with it because it is an amazing series and it's popularity is still growing.
That last picture is of Luke the Warrior, Father of Martin the Warrior. I remember using that exact same picture in Art Class. We had to free hand sketch a piece of art of our choosing and I chose that picture of Luke.
When I was little I would repeat the riddle as a mantra before I went to sleep. I loved Redwall so much. I made it too mariel of redwall before I stopped reading the series. "I am that is. My sword shall wield for me." Good times. :)
As A Kid I always found the fact that people died in it made it very good to watch. Besides its also the only ever show or movie where the main character and Myself have thr same name which felt great as a 8 year old
Takes me back to weekend mornings as a kid, changing over to channel five to watch Milkshake and this being one of its shows with Wishbone or rugrats! Great memories!
I was really into Redwall, Mattimeo and Martin the Warrior during my high school years. Thank you, Brian Jacques and Nelvana, for giving those years of my life something to look back on fondly. Rest in peace.
This was a series unlike any other: it encouraged courage and self-sacrifice and doing what was right, no matter what. It was like Tolkien for children (I've always found the writing style of the books somewhat reminiscent of Tolkien) and probably one of the greatest animated series to ever exist. It was bittersweet and utterly beautiful. 'Tis a pity they never did Mossflower, The Rogue Crew, Loamhedge, the Pearls of Lutra or Mariel and that you never got to see Salamandastrom and hear the battlecry "Eulalia!" but they did a darn good job nonetheless (especially with Warbeak). I do wish we could've seen more of the female heroines: Mariel, Triss, Tiria, Tansy......
My family has the whole book series and recently we managed to get the whole rare DVD collection thanks to my brother's girlfriend. The whole series, videos and books were one of the greatest things about my childhood!
I was disappointed as a kid with this series. The books were one of my favorite things, partly that they didn't completely censor the horrors that came as a result of war. There was a scene in one of the books that I'll never forget - a peaceful character is brought to shaking and tears because he had to kill an enemy in self defense. He says something to the effect of "I've killed a living creature! One moment he was alive, with thoughts and a heartbeat and breath, and the next he was simply a corpse! And I did that to him!" And he has to be consoled by another character, who had been through a war before, and who says something to the effect of "there is no glamour in war and it hardens the heart." I bought the season one DVD with Christmas money and all the fights had been completely cut out except for one key scene where Matthias kills Asmodeus. I know it was a PBS series, but I was totally crushed because all I'd heard about was how good it was and how it was so faithful to the books.
I know I'm late to this, but I do recommend that you watch the tv series, in no way am I saying it's bad just underwhelming. I would love to see them try to make a more true to the books tv series, but that's unlikely with how protective they are of the rights, the tv series has many inconsistencies to the books they are based off of which is my main problem with them in my opinion the best season was season 3, due to it being the most consistent to the book it's based off of. Anywho if you see this hope it gave you something to think about or reconsider your thoughts on the animated tv series, won't fight you on it, got a whole discord of people who love the series to do that with
While I enjoy the series, it is true that Jacques' descriptions of the violence -- and the tragic consequences of it -- was deeper and more thought-provoking in his books. Undoubtedly, the producers of this show had to make many compromises just to get it aired on PBS. Still, the series was not without its gruesome content. Asmodeus still gets decapitated. ***** I meant the books as well. Don't get me wrong: I loved the books and the TV series...but it always bugged me how the lines between "Good and evil" were so easy to see.
+Andrew Vert The Redwall series are actually a children's chapter book series, hence the simple black and white morality, but it still caught on for older readers.

the forth season was ready to start but the American funding never came....sad day for everyone. for some reason the show was not as popular in the states as it was in Canada and England
The thing I loved best about the show was that it didn't sugarcoat anything. If someone died, they died, everything was 97% exactly like the books and we want it that way.

There's always something tragically sad about this song to me...
Just like the books, there is great sorrow in life, and that just makes the heroic characters all the more laudable
