I just planted a third of an acre plot of them 10-11-23. - Montgomery County, AL. It is just a new experimental plot. I threw in some Crimson clover with it. It will be interesting to see what happens. 🙏🏼
I’m sure that will work out great! I always like to add some clover as well, great for Turkey season. Good luck 👍
Im going to layer in winter wheat on mine, after the brassica take off so if they don't eat the tubers they will at least have grass and maybe the wheat will get them to munch on the brassica
I think that’s a great idea, I am trying brassicas again this year
so i planted thes in ny same thing but they really didnt start eating them until almost last day in nov begining in dec but in jan they destroyed them all and the ones that survived they ate after spring thaw so it def takes heavy snow and well below freezing for them to hold interest but it was a good hold over crop to get them threw our winter
It seems like most of the people in the northern parts of the country do much better with them. They love the greens here in Virginia but we have not gotten the cold temperatures needed to really push the deer to them. Thanks for the info!
have a plot the 1st year they ate the leaves but didnt touch the turnips but next year they started eating the turnips
If that’s the case then I may have to consider planting some more this year. I will more than likely add some.
