For the graph curve? Mine was the same was because it automatically went to Edit Value but we want it to be Edit Speed type of graph. I just right clicked and changed it. Hopefully that helps

try changing the stroke color from the main stroke panel, not the layer one

I was stuck here for a while too. Think of it this way: Create a path by clicking two points, very close to each other. You've now created a very small line. If you set the stroke to 1px, it will show up as a very small line. If you set the stroke to say 100px, and change the cap to round, the stroke will be much bigger than the line you've created, and radiate from the line, so it looks like a ball.
I did this at first, then i edited the line with the pen tool, moving the points so one point is on top of the other (so they're on the same place).
