ERIK!!!!!!!!!!!!❤
Thanks for the informative video. We always enjoy your videos!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy them!
We have a saying up here in Alaska, 'There is no bad weather just bad gear'.
Totally agree.
I will be back this weekend and stop at the mountain shop. Your posts are great, keep it up
Awesome, thank you!
Excellent overview
Thank you Perry.
Thanks for video
You're welcome!
I'll be there next week for a week. Cheers.
Hope you have a great trip!
It's probably not what you would consider essential, but I always wear a neck sock in the winter, too. Not only does it keep my neck warm, but I can pull it up over my nose when it's really cold or the snow is blowing hard.
That’s a great tip! I can see how that would be really helpful.
Great review.
You appear to have a wind proof beenie. Never found one, any recommendations
If you stop into the Estes Park Mountain Shop or an REI store, they usually have a good selection of windproof winter hats. Some of the tightly woven fleece hats do a good job of keeping the wind out, as well as any PolarTec products.
Great overview, Erik, thank you! One item of interest is whether you have any advice for keeping your legs warm. I've had long underwear in the past, but typically less expensive, polyester or other non-natural fibers. Would you suggest wool for that option? Possibly an extra, water-proof layer to wear over your hiking pants as well? The snow may not melt much on pants in the colder temperatures, so that may be overkill. Any advice is welcome!
Hi, sorry for not addressing this in the video. It was getting long and so there were a number of things I didn't have room to include. Generally most people will find that if they had warm head, warm hands, warm body and warm feet, that their legs don't get too cold. I often find that if I wear anything else on my legs that I get too warm out there.
But, when it's really chilly out there (-20F to 5F) then I typically used lined pants, long underwear, ski pants or a combination of them. If it's really cold then you don't have to worry about wearing anything waterproof, perhaps something that is more windproof.
I would love to be there to see snow but my husband refuses! Any advice to get him up there in the snow? Lol 😂
Some people just don’t get the wonder of winter.
