- Looking for a classic, iconic Rotring 600, but you keep seeing these Newton pens. Curious the difference between a Rotring 600 ( amzn.to/2TN2Flu ) and a Rotring Newton? Wondering if you should buy a mint Newton instead a much more expensive Rotring 600? This is the video you've been looking for.

It technically IS a 600. My Newton box has "600 Series" on the label.
The yellow plastic insert inside the top cap is the thing that "holds" it. Not the gear shapes, those are only to guide the circumfrencial alignment so the hexagonal shape of the body aligns with the hexagonal shape of the cap. Look inside the yellow insert and you'll see where the pen clicks.
Very happy to know that my Rotring 600 is a classic!
I would be extremely happy if they would sell it as a fountain without the clip :) I also need to get my hands on the 600/800 twist ballpoint... (the new version of the ballpoint would be absolutely okay)
Been looking at getting a 600 rollerball used online. Is there a spring in the grip section? I heard there’s a spring but I’m not completely sure. Also not sure if you still use it but how has it held up after 5 more years?
Have you used a Levenger L-Tech? They seem to be a clone/copy/homage/licensed replica of the Rotring pattern. I have the roller ball. not a fan of the clip but like the weight and the knurling.
Thanks for the interesting content
Looks like it was designed by H&K.
I just bought a Rotring 600 with the fine knurling but it has the button like the Newton. I'm wondering which version I bought.
I think that’s the last generation 600
For the last 1 year, I have been scarring the ebay and other websites to purchase either one of these rollerballs (old Rotring 600 or Rotring Newton), but the price at which these are being sold, makes them frustratingly very unaffordable. The asking price is mind-numbing, in the range of $300-$400 excluding the shipping cost. That's a bummer!I guess, I'll have to remain contented with the new Rotring 600 ballpoint pen.
Have you considered a used one?
I have that same Newton, but the Lava finish.
I'm a bit confused here - maybe you can help me out. I'm seeing a bundle of a ballpoint pen and a pencil in silver from rotring. Both look like rotring 600 but the ballpoint pen has the little blue indicator window on it, so I'm kind of confused what pen that is.
The older Rotring 600 ballpoint had a color indicator on it but it was dropped on the 2018-current model. So you are looking at a vintage ballpoint if it has this feature.
@@unsharpen besides just preference and design there isn't much of a difference between this vintage one and the newer one? I can pick up a set of a 600 ballpoint vintage and a fitting pencil for 50€.
Thanks for the vid. Going through my old stationery supplies I seem to have the lava variant of the Newton. I've just looked it up and I think I might hold on to it for a while! Can you recommend any decent refills at all? Thanks
I pilot g2 gel refill is a nice place to start if you have the rollerball.
@@unsharpen yes it is indeed the rollerball. Thank you, I'll check them out.
I think my Rotring lava 600 used Parker refills. I gave away the lava fountain pen and ballpoint years ago so I am stretching my memory. I have no experience of the Newton variant.
@@konradyearwood5845 thanks. I got the Pilot G2 refill in the end. Does the job.
I can't find these anywhere 😞
does anyone know where I can find the parts needed to fix a Newton just like the one in the video?
Generally parts aren’t available except on eBay you can sometimes find a spare nib unit or cap
Do you have a this Newton model in fountain pen review or info? :)
I’ll think this through. Might be a fun video.
