talent may exist, but there's always practice I had been playing for 19 years by now, my technique got "stuck" a few years ago, but I got unstuck eventually by (my long overdue) usage of the metronome. it's never too late, and age doesn't *actually* stop improvement. Remember the Painkiller solo? 15 years ago I thought the solo was amazing (it still is), but ever since I learned to sweep, I realized how MESSY the original recording is. If you listen to new Judas Priest, it's plain as day that the old guys in Judas Priest improved even 20 years into their career when the song came out and another 30 after that. start now.
Telecasters are great and very versatile guitars, surely the neck profile isn't as fast as other "shred" guitars but the playability is good and I've found with proper calibration you can get the action really low if that's your thing -- they're well built and sturdy guitars. Tone-wise you got everything from rock/metal on the bridge pickup to really beautiful cleans or bluesy tones on the neck, maybe even some jazz if you dim the tone knob. It's all about your own comfort and knowing how to use the tool.
Legend is the one who wrote or created this historic giant song. He's no other than my only guitar wonder hero Ritchie Blackmore . The one who alters/modifies or spoil this song in what ever ways shouldn't be considered as legend or legends. Correct me if i'm wrong.
well this happens for two reasons: 1) Most Mr. Big fans are Paul Gilbert fanboys so any guitar player (in this case Richie) taking over his place becomes invisible and irrelevant 2) Richie may be pulling that solo off on a telecaster (which is asian god level) but Sheehan is playing JON LORD on a bass
Less give in a tele than say on a strat, but it isn't so much so that you could, say, play this solo flawlessly on your Ibanez S series but then not be able to at all on the Tele. Ultimately it's down to the player but the guitar and it's set-up are also a part of it. Bottom line - Kotzen could play this on any rig because he's a monster.
Exactly, it's mostly in the fingers and muscle memory. Obviously it would be difficult to pull off on a huge Gretsch or something, but generally it's the player, not the instrument.
Anyone have any idea what video this is off? I thought the only video with Richie was the Farewell Live in Japan. Though the way the intro is it may be off of a TV show. Any help would be appreciated.
damn man, SHEEHAN is absolutely crazy!!!!! I bet my nuts that he could make that bass guitar talk... FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT, AWESOME, INCREDIBLE, STUNNING... it's hard to find one single word to describe this...
MY GOD!!! BURN is already an expressive song, but these guys raising the bar of expressive-ness even more... they love Deep Purple, and this is how they expressing theirs... love this version of Burn and loving Mr. Big and every person in it even more!!! thanks for uploading this video!
I always pause this video after the guitar solo and take a moment to reflect. Then I make sure to finish the video because the rest of it is pretty damn good, too.
Here to answer 7 years later. It all depends on the setup of the guitar. Radius, fretwire, string height, etc. If that tele was set in a metal-manner, Kotzen can shred it like butter. But if the setup is just like a regular tele, a bit harder to shred.
Well, a Tele isn't exactly a good first choice for a solo. You usually see shredders like Joe Satriani and Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai using Ibanezes, just because of their sleeker shape and thin necks.
2022 y todavia uno de los mejores show que he visto en mi vida!!
I remember seeing this as a teenager "Yeah, I'll do this Kotzen's solo one day".
15 years later, well, stil can't do it.
Because you never start learning

kotzen is not human
burn live
OMG
neither is Billy, man...
ギター凄すぎてもはやピアノじゃん笑
I love how everyone praises Sheehan and no one praises Kotzen. I mean, Billy is FUCKING AMAZING, but Ritchie is pulling that solo off on a telecaster.
Not just pulling off, ripping it apart, piece by piece.
Uh whats your point? A telecaster has more of a shredding neck than a strat anyway. JIC you didn't know
@@ZFlyingVLover Wutttt?
I've just played recently both and Teles are really tough

That's Richie's signature telecaster it has a 12 inch radius neck makes it a little easier play like that a little.
