If it enhances the vision of a blind person, then it’s worth 4K for blind people.
If it made my vision that much better and would make daily life easier and better then its worth $10,000 or more
No, if it functions as help for the blind, then it's very fucked up to sell at such a price
@@benjatendo5015you do realize that the headset isn’t entirely based upon the fact that it’s made for blind people?
@@benjatendo5015 do you realize the tech in this thing? And without the tech it won’t function as it is? Everyone who has reviewed it has said it may an expensive product, but it’s not overpriced for what it is.
People can buy it on monthly payment plans. It’s worth it for people who find use in it.
@@mmmbreadyum936 Yeah, I do, but I also think it is immoral to give ridiculous prices to something that a group of people might to improve their life in such a significant way. The guy in the video was just talking about refinicing his car to be able to afford it.
Besides, I wasn't (solely, at least) talking about the price of the headset itself, but the claim of the commenter.
We're in the age of cyberpunk bio-upgrades! So cool to start to see see how AR could change lives
Funny how my eyes also bad but to use any headset i need either glasses or prescription lenses... Because you know
I remember when the ipad came they interviewed a lady over 90 who loved it. What it did for her was that since the screen was so bright she could see the keyboard and navigate around.
Been waiting for this video since they announced vision pro!
Talk to a nearby university's CS department. They will likely setup multiple studies with you using the Vision Pro in day to day life.
Now this is a really cool use of the vision pro, I would love to see how other kind of disabilities could take advantage of this new form of computing.
It'll always be a case on case basis but as long as developers and companies are designing with accessibility practices in mind, it'll reach even more audiences and support loyal customers who may develop temporary or long-term disability in the future.
@@jamesrathI have a question if you don't mind.
Are you going to browse the Internet now on Vision Pro?
"new form of computing" its not new at all lmfao, so many headsets have augmented reality
I think this is probably the coolest use case I’ve seen for the Vision Pro, and it’s one I never even considered
I’ve had two corneal grafts for keratakonus - i can see if things are within a few inches of my face, but other than that, the world is a blur. I need to try this. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, I'm actually visually impaired myself (I can only see out of my left wye), so it was pretty nice to ser this. I've always been on the fence about the apple vision pro, because, from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to actually be much better than what we currently have, but I guess that changed after I watched this video. Seeing how a blind person used this, and was actually able to see everything, due to it being cameras on your eyes, it made me realize, it may be able to help blind people see. Now, seeing as how it does depend on the user, it may not work for some people, e.g. I am full blind in my right eye, so it wouldn't bring vision to that eye, but it may help me see things with my left eye from a distance better, and then there are people that may have absplutally no vision, and wouldn't be able to use the vision pro. I don't see it replacing existing assistive technology, but I do see it helping some blind people out.
It also comes at a heafty price point, that not everyone can afford.
oh hey, I can technically see with both eyes but I can only really recognize patterns in my left eye. my right eye is somehow worse at reading and also has the image of the left eye sort of superimposed over it even if the left eye is closed. I found out this is because my eyes don't converge to a point so my brain learned to ignore one of them
Really nice!
Awesome that it works for you !
This should be a more watched video and pushed more. I'm for see through mixed reality over pass through but this is a huge benefit to pass through that ive wondered about for a while
Yo this should be a fund raiser video so we can easily donate to him getting a apple vision pro!
Thank you, but I can confirm I've managed to obtain one. Been testing it for the last week, I'll be making a videos on it really soon!
I honestly hope the quest have these accessibility features and a better passthrough so that people don't have to automatically get the expensive one from Apple, as of right now. Been a Quest user for quite a while, and I never see this becoming so useful for blind people.
Considering Apple termed this the “Apple Vision *Pro,*” I assume they’re planning a cheaper model
wow! i seem to have pretty much the same issues with you and it's nice to know that they can work as i guess electronic glasses, as well as that you can control them even with nystagmus. maybe if they get a bit cheaper and come to Australia i might think about getting one.
@@Paul.Oakenfoldbut it’s a completely different device? It’s a gaming headset, and has some AR
@@Dupernite quest 3 can do almost everything that vision pro right now, maybe it gives a little bit less high-end experience (in fact it can do much more at this moment), also it based on same physical principles but for the reasonable price and I think it's 100% an option for somebody with issues like that guy have, if it could be helpful somehow
@Dupernite it's not necessarily a gaming headset. it is better at gaming than the vision pro but that doesn't mean you have to. it's power is pretty on par with the vision pro but it has worse quality (plastic instead of machined aluminum) and a bit worse AR mode (although it could be improved in an update as meta is now competing with apple)
purchase the vision air, the one that is leaked to come out. cheaper lighter and easier to carry around which will be handy.
Probably just be vision 2 since this is the first time a first gen had been released as a pro, implying that future versions will be cheaper
There’s nothing like that in the works. That’s not how product rollouts happen. And certainly not how apple products come out. Plus Apple is struggling to keep up with demands on the pro. They don’t even have to worry about making money or pleasing customers.
You have to learn the difference between a leak and a rumor with no evidence.
I'm not exactly sure how this works, but I would love if headsets could adapt to different eye prescriptions. I have to wear glasses and it kinda makes VR suck.
Now technology like this needs to come to normally priced headsets.
(No I will not be calling this spatial computing, it's just mixed reality.)
wow good for you! :)) its great to hear that the apple vision pro have help improving your vision :) wish you the best and stay healthy :))
Actually thats a great idea. If they can make a program which adjusts the vision on each eye screen seperaely to match the eyesight of the user, it can be used by people with eyesight issues too. The may even can view the world better than normal vision.
Out of all the videos, I have not seen the different control options. I wonder how well they work. Seems like the head or wrist one would be great for a lot of people who are not used to eye control
I’m vision impeached aswell and I am in Australia
Demos start next week and I’ll be trying for sure I really hope Apple realises the potential they have to change so many peoples lives even if it costs them more to make it more acsassable for people like us
My visual impairments are nystagmus and Optic nerve hypoplasia
The real benefit to headsets like this is if they used image recognition and told the wearer what was visible, that would those with no sight as well as those with partial sight.
NGL, pretty sweet. Hopefully it can be put into a far cheaper, far more comfortable package. One worth the price with a decent headband and internal battery.
$4000 for visions is a deal imo
not a deal when you know that there are alternative headsets 4-5 times cheaper and that do the exact same thing
@@waterbucket4358 With the exact same pixel density, refresh rate, frame rate, color spectrum, eye tracking, and hand blending? All to prevent motion sickness? Which one is it and where can I buy it?
Thank you for sharing. Hard to know if my fishing is worse than yours, so I would be unsurprised if it was. After all, unless you were joking about the car, neither of us is ever going to drive. I wondered how Apple would deal with people who could not use IT tracking, so that was excellent information, having said that, I still do not think I will be getting a Vision Pro because I don’t know how well it would work for me having just a single eye.
This is just the first model, so hopefully down the line if it’s something that’ll seem useful to you there’ll be something similar that’d be usable for you
I don’t know details but it does seem like there is a monocular mode.
Yes I fully expect a lot to change. The tech behind this is only now starting to be really useful. Display and battery tech are improving.
we need specific apps for legally blind! I mean the AR scans the surrounding, how awesome would it be to feed a high contrast, low detail version of that to the screens
YES!!!!! I just need glasses to correct my vision. but when i cant find them, i use my phones camera, because everything is right in front of me, and i can see everything clearly. But when i tell people this, they don't understand. I'm glad to see my last minute desperation idea used on a much bigger scale
This is such a big win on so many levels!
Im visually impaired too, and now even more excited to try it out!!
The accessibility features are certainly helpful as not many AR/VR headsets even offer anything more than larger text. Hope you can try it soon!
Apple should really integrate the ability to “pin” an app just like the zoom window is pinned and follows you around. For anyone using this while walking around and not just sitting on a couch, that would be very useful.
Thanks! I was waiting for this kind of review; I have low far vision, severe photophobia and nystagmus so this helps 🙂Did you try fullscreen zoom? Just need the release in Europe to try it myself ahah
He's literally saved the Vision Pro's whole career
Dude, that’s incredible! You need to get one!
Did you try the meta quest 3??
2:25 hell yeah you should get one, seems like it would improve your life way more than any other person i've seen reviewing it so far.
though one note it's charge is abysmal, i saw a guy stretch it's charge from 4h to 24h with a 40k mah powerbank.
As a person with a visual impairment, I always carry a backpack with supplies (never know if you might get stuck somewhere long) and power banks are one of those things I carry at least 2-4 of with me when I travel!
Apple’s watch is the only fitness tracker that includes options for pushing a manual wheelchair. Say what you will about them, their accessibility features are leaps and bounds above anyone else’s.
Wow, I wonder how that works- I’m not blind; but surprised since I still have to wear glasses in VR even though I’m near-sighted (because VR lenses make the focal point hit your eye as if it were 2-3 meters away). So I wonder if Apple uses a different kind of lens or something?
That is why Apple is good for people like this dude
This gives me hope
Nice vid, but did it almost give your vision back? Like you did a simulation of you vision which was blurry but how much precent of your vision did the apple vision give back? like 90% viewable? or
So it didn't necessarily restore, what is happening is my impaired vision can see slightly better a few inches from my face but beyond anymore it's all blurry. The Vision Pro's cameras capture the room in higher detail than my eyes can and it was then relying more detail than I normally see such as features on people's faces, large text on marketing banners, etc. These sorts of things I normally would not be able to see but since it's put right up to my face on a high res display I can see them. I don't own a Vision Pro yet but when I do I'll do more thorough testing including an eye-exam.
For the voiceover in a noisy environment problem, how about wearing airpods on transparency mode? Would allow you to hear both your surroundings and the voiceover simultaneously
Great idea! But with it being a demo unit it was pretty locked down and curated by Apple. I was lucky enough to go off the beaten path to try the accessibility features during the demo. Hopefully Apple considers this for future customers trying it out!
Actually considering your condition. I wonder if the headset was constantly adjusting things in the background. Which is why things suddenly appeared clear.
Essentially it could have been constantly adjusting the image you where seeing with your eyes. Meaning that relative to your eyes the image it was displaying was basically still.
Could totally be an unintentionally thing the headset does to reduce motion sickness, but in your case it basically corrected your vision.
no, it's like looking at phone & screen, first we adjust our head closer or further away until the image on screen is clear, then everything displayed on the screen will stay clear as long as we don't move the phone. If we can wear it on our head, then we don't have to hold them.
That’s very amazing. You can see with Apple Vision Pro. The product is so interesting and very advanced technology😊
Technology can be used for good I’m happy technology was able to help this young man
You should try a Meta Quest 3, because it has a lot of similar features and it’s a fraction of the cost
Didn’t even think about this as a use for vision pro. Kinda crazy
Just had a discussion a few days ago with a mate about this and he asked me if I could see better with the iPhone camera and I did. A lot better. It didn’t cross my mind that the camera uses lenses like glasses and with the added benefit of a high resolution screen. But, I can’t afford it and not readily available in my country anyway. 😂
This is exciting!!!!!!❤
For anyone with similar vision problems, Meta has much cheaper alternatives that should work well at a fraction of the price, as low as $400.
I watch some video who compare both, if Meta have similar product, Apple Vision Pro is best at almost every level (its logic, is a high end product). You choose what you can afford. But I think when it’s about health issues, I prefer to have the best product
I just got the QUEST 3 (after having the QUEST & QUEST 2) and today demoed the Vision Pro for my near-blind father. This is a game-changer for him and is a far superior product for those with sight and other challenges, especially because it will allow him to more easily view his desktop environment. Meta apps for this just do not compare. For many in his situation, the cost is worth sacrificing in other areas.
@@shirleyprieto9790 For computing purposes Vision Pro is definitely superior, but I think for a person who doesn't use computers much, Quest 3 and Quest Pro can work pretty well for just a fraction of the cost. It's important to keep in mind that you'd be spending at least $1k extra if you wanna compute with the Vision Pro as their computers are crazy expensive as well, and you'd be stuck in their ecosystem.
That’s actually so sick
Now that you have one, will you do a video on it?
I filmed the video, going into the edit. Will likely have it out by the end of the month
Hell yeah buy it !health is way more important than money
Nah, he should purchase the meta quest 3, it does the exact same thing (even more because gaming) and is a LOT cheaper
@@waterbucket4358 you forgot about the resolution per eye. HE is blind dont make him more blind, let him get what he thinks is best
That's cool. I never considered that type of an application.
Sounds like he just needs some kind of visual equipment similar to glasses then? Or is it some kind of video feed projected onto his eyes?
I never thought of it this way 🤯
I hate Apple but I respect this. I can appreciate some of their technologies. This is a game changer for disabilities. This and the Quest 3 are both gonna push technology SO far ahead throughout the next decade. Also an honourable mention to Microsoft for giving it a go with HoloLens and Windows MR before killing them off and letting the rest of the industry come through.
Wish HoloLens worked out for consumers. The Minecraft demo they had was awesome
Brother I think it's gonna be life changing to you, but also the possibility of eye strain is still there, they need to make low blue light lenses
Faith in humanity restored
I wouldn’t refinance your car as you can pay monthly installments through apple. But if it really helps i’m sure this would be nice for just hanging around the house
Wait a second, did you say you have a car as a vision-impaired person?
... I guess that's OK, my step-father can sail boats vision impaired
I didn't even notice that... He obviously can't drive as a vision-impaired person. I guess it was a joke.
I have steered a boat with sighted assistance... but no i don't have a car that was just some blind humor 😉
you could get a quest 3 as they are cheaper, but dont offer the same accessibility featurea
Hey can you use the zoom to magnify actually your real view and not an app ? Like magnifying a chair or a person next to you ?
The system built-in Zoom only works for apps and system UI not the passthrough. At this time as far as I know, no. This may change with app developers getting access to uses the cameras, etc.
@@jamesrath please if you have the Access to an apple vision pro Can you try to activate the zoom tab without openong any app, so that we make sure if we can magnify our environement

Let’s get this guy a vision pro
Sure, Apple may not have groundbreaking innovations, but what they do great at is making their products usable for the vulnerable. I mean (no knock on Android), you see more of the disabled people use an iPhone/Apple products because their accessibility settings make it easier to use for them!
You should get one. Seeing is better than driving
Now we need the oasis
That's nice but they do not work well inside depending on lighting.
Strip away the computing aspect and just recreate the headset for increased vision clarity .. could make them significantly less bulky and more accessible for daily use. Probably too niche of a market unfortunately
Unfortunately, Apple blocks pixel-level access to the live camera view on the Apple Vision Pro, thus making development of third-party computer vision apps for the blind impossible on this device.
True at least as I've been told by developer however perhaps with this video and other low vision users benefiting from such an API, maybe Apple will open this up sooner rather than later.
@@jamesrath I hope so! The same raw camera view restrictions affect Meta Quest 2 and 3 headsets. I have a camera-based and platform-independent web app for totally blind users that runs on iPhone and Android phones, just not on these headsets, which is frustrating. THERES ALSO PERSCIPTION LENSES
I noticed that you've tried both the Vision Pro and Meta Quest headsets. Which one of the two gives you a better experience?
Wish I could say long term but as of now Vision Pro had more accessibility features off the bat which would make longer sessions a lot more bearable if not even pleasant then looking up close at monitor screens.
Game changer indeed.👍
Well the Apple Vision Pro is not considered a medical device but it’s comin into one
While I still believe laser eye surgery will one day advance enough to accommodate people like James, I could still see virtual reality one day advancing enough that we could use it in a learning environment.
There was an experimental surgery for 1 of 3 of my eye conditions and it worked but only for 2 years and it was risky to do it again without harming my eyes - that surgery to my knowledge isn't performed anymore though. I got it when I was 12 but the results (minor improvement about 2 lines on the eye chart) of it disappeared overnight in high school. Now I can barely make out the big 'E' .. but I feel like I'm also cheating because I just know it's a big E even though it's still super blurry 😅 - Anyway in short, I'm all for folks getting a surgery if it's accessible for everyone to get even those with low income and has minimal to no risk but I prefer investing and funding accessibility.
@@jamesrath I guess that's an economic question we have no way to answer at the moment. I would prefer the former be more affordable though, would be kinda funky to see people walking around with headsets for sight
