- This is a blind commentary of the first My Little Pony: Equestria Girls movie special as promised to do so since reaching 500 subscribers. Come and watch, as animation fan and potential want-to-be actor, Raptormon132 (that's me) celebrates 500 subs by for-filling his promise and reacting to this first Equestria Girls movie with a moving background (or close to it as possible). 52:10 This is an special case: Twilight Sparkle is NOT a _real_ student on C.H.S. [ neither was Sunset Shimmer two years before; but she learned how to FORGE a "fake identity" for herself through hacking of the citizenship databases ]; Twilight can not "escalate" any situation, or she risks getting the attention of either the local authorities or "The Other Twilight" Pinkie Pie mentioned to having seen once in "The City" [ C.H.S. is located in "a Town", technically speaking].
This was already (vaguely) adressed by PRINCESS Celestia as the "reason" ( she called it "havoc" ) for why the rest of the pony mane six can not go alongside Princess Twilight on this "mission" [aparently she knew ~somehow~ about their counterparts living near the portal]; as getting people from that "Other World" knowing about Equestria is dangerous.
Also, this is the same _practical_ reason why Twilgiht did not DEMANDED the return of "her crown" to Principal Celestia; as she had no way to "prove" anything she said other than convincing Principal Celestia herself to cross over to Equestria (a potentially terrible idea, given how powerfull she could become as an alicorn THERE, and how much influence she already has on THIS SIDE).
[My headcanon] Princess Celestia tried to "bring back" Sunset Shimmer (in secret) at the begining of the first day (before the arrival of the mane six in train to the Crystal Empire) posibly only telling Luna about it before going through [in case she could not return and her little sister had to rule Equestria for almost 3 years]; with the "Princess Meeting" real porpouse being that Twilight & Cadance will get informed about Celestia´s real whereabouts and reasons behind her temporary "self-exile" [if it happened]. Because it did not happened, Celestia allowed Twilight and her friends to rest (since there was no real reason for the summit anymore).

I guess you're right about that. Although, I'm interested in seeing what "The Other Twilight" is like. All I know is that she appears in the 3rd EG movie.
That is an interesting head canon. I also have a head canon that the pony world and human world experience different times, which would explain why their EG counterparts are either younger or older then their original pony. For instance, how The Main Six in pony world are older than their EG counterparts, or how the BSB (CMC) in the EG world are older than their pony world counterparts. Lets put it like this.
Main Six (Pony world): Early to mid 20s
Main Six (EG world): Late teens (senior high school age)
CMC (Pony world): 8 to 10 years
CMC (EG world): 12 or 13 years (junior high school (AKA freshmen) age)

Too bad you got spoiled about her adition in the third movie (but it was kinda a given after humane!Pinkie mentioned).
The "theory" (hypothesis) of "Equestria" & "CHS" [there is no real official name for the two "Realms", only the countries/cities/locations] having different flow of time was SUPER POPULAR between brony analysts for years.
-> Sadly, the crew at DHX aparently never even considered the posibility (all the "inconsistencies" were just mistakes & oversights).
. [Future "timed" events happening on both sides of the mirror simultaneously proved it wrong definitively] -> Similar conversations take about the same time, days & nights last the same ammount of hours (yet the sunrise/sunset moments of CHS & Equestria are aparently not "in sync", likely because of the acumulation of small driftings from Celestia´s mistakes/delays of seconds/minutes on each day/night over 1000 years).
-> It is still unknown if a "year" in Equestria has the same ammount of days than a "year" on CHS [ "seasons" make no sense, do not even try... ]; but the "30 moons" timeframe has aparently the same meaning in days/hours on both sides.

About the ages...
-> There is no rational explanation in-universe.
. The "meta" is simply that HASBRO "demanded" Luna & Celestia to be in the movie as both humans & ponies (because of the already_in_production toy designs).
There are tons of "hypothesis":
. The CMC are actually THE SAME AGE on both sides; ponies simply mature/age at different rates (likely related to magic), even if they end up living about the same number of days/years (either "Destiny" or some form of "soul sync" between their counterparts).
. Princess Celestia & Princess Luna were actually born not that long ago (at the same time than their human counterparts); but they were "summoned" by pony!Starswirl into the distant past when they were still small foals (so they do not remember anything).
-> In this case they were either not born as alicorns (as otherwise their mere existence would have being noticed), or Princess Celestia understood that _"it is necesary to LET this happen"_ [so she "silenced" or "mind-f*ck*d everypony who knew about them years before S1E01]
46:12 But PRECISELY because of it is that she spent THE ENTIRE DAY "researching" in the library about the CHS´s world [to the point that not only she is not behaving like an "alien" anymore], but also that she will "import" some ideas to Equestria ( either re-inventing some machines, or making new spells that would do the same things ).
-> It took her YEARS to develop most of those; only starting showing up in FiM after the "hidden timeskip" of season 7.

I hope so, because Equestria could benefit very much with the science and technology from the EG world.
39:10 Sunset Shimmer came to the human world looking for some "Lost Magic" that would enable her to become MORE POWERFULL than her mentor Celestia (after realizing that there was nothing left in Equestria not already under her control).
. She "researched deeply" the pseudo-magical technology of this world [computers], to the point she became an amazing hacker (this is how she manipulated the humane 5, so none of them would want to help her rival (Rarity) in the last "Spring Fling Coronation").
I assume she did the same with everyone else (hacking into their emails & smartphones), getting "secrets" that they do not desire to be made public [so she was basically "blackmailing" everyone individually].
Ex: Fluttershy has done ~things~ in her animal shelter that others may misunderstand...
Also, she prevented each of them from forming a _combined force_ against her by separating them into "groups" that would only talk about the same things everyday ( unlikely to ever discuss about Sunset´s dominance openly ).

From Sunset´s perspective, "data acquisition" was fair game (she comes from a society were powerful unicorns can read memories & see past events using spells). The "wrongness" is actually on the way she uses that knowledge to create _discord_ between groups and certain individuals.
Fluttershy had slept with the animals in the shelter. Naked.
-> It was because some of the new ones were affraid AND alergic to some of the components of her clothes (it took her a while to get hypoallergenic stuff).

Are you serious? Does she say that in any of the EG movies or shorts? Well whether it's true, or a fan theory, I guess it would arouse suspicions of things...like...the "B" word, despite it being effective in helping animals with trust and adjustment issues and to prevent allergies.
Actually, that could make a good fan fic drama story. Fluttershy getting falsely accused of the "B" word, and has troubles, even being prosecuted for it in court, until someone clears her name.

There was nothing "obvious" of course (you have to "read between lines" to figure it out); but assuming that Sunset did not actively followed Fluttershy to the animal shelter (spying on her with cameras or sneaking inside the building to take photos "in fraganti"); she probably got this information remotely [like she did with everyone else], by hacking from the school´s local network & "inferring" it from circumstantial evidence (Fluttershy´s smartphone/notebook research notes or personal diary).
. Then, once Sunset had ~an idea~ of what MAY have happened, she directly confronted Fluttershy about this "posibility" in private just to see her reaction ( not exactly _"shooting an arrow in the darkness"_ ).
-> This would explain how Sunset managed to completely breakdown Fluttershy in the movie (after getting a rather asertive "refusal" from her to surrender the current location of the crown, on the basis that it did not "belonged" to Sunset either), simply by MENTIONING the "stray animals" [ strange enough precisely given that Fluttershy was trying (inefectively) to raise attention to their existence early back in the movie when she got the crown].
01:30:10 Sunset Shimmer received the exact same "punishment" than Snips & Snails got back in the Season 1 Trixie episode "Boast Busters" (minus getting an "evil mustache", something that was referenced earlier with Spike in front of a mirror).
Given how Principal Celestia & Vice-Principal Luna reacted about all of it, they seem to prefer not raising the attention of authorities (otherwise they would not be forcing 3 students on doing the repairs, but asking the local SchoolBoard/Superintendent for money), since this "paranormal activity" could end up in the highschool getting closed [or parents removing their children from attending to it]
-> Hints from later movies sugest C.H.S. was already operating "outside" of the normal curriculum for years [ Principal Celestia providing most/all the funding ].

You do make a good point about that. Although, I feel that Sunset Shimmer deserved worse than she got after everything she had done.
27:00 Spike assumed that even in this "strange new world" dogs are normally unable to talk.
-> He quickly figured out that from the leash that other dog had (plus the implicit "lack of understanding" behind Fluttershy´s question to Twilight); so he did his best attempt at barking [he rolled a "natural 20" on Performance, or he has some good charisma stats].
01:24:15 Lauren Faust´s "Friendship is Magic" was based on "Harry Potter".
This is basically Twilight´s "Crown & Element of Magic" representing "The Elder Wand".
A powerfull magical artifact that can never directly hurt *"It´s True Master"* (regardless of who may currently hold it, or what spell is casted).
-> Sunset Shimmer´s fireball was "dispelled" by the Element of Magic into "Raw Equestrian Magic" that was pasively absorbed by the six of them (giving Princess Twilight _just enough_ to be able to "connect" with her crown and channel even MORE magic from it).
If Sunset Shimmer knew about this, she could have still won by using her powers to levitate rocks/bricks from the school building (just like she did one scene before), launching them at fast velocity in the general direction of Twilight [she would have to be "lucky" for one random piece to hit her, as any "directed" attempt would end up in failure]; or just by asking her mind-controled teenage army to harm her (she would probably choose Flash Sentry to do it), while Snips & Snails fend off the rest of the human five.

I can see a comparison. And I also think what Goku said at 1:21:10 is true too. Her body couldn't handle the stress from all that power.
And you are right. If Sunset Shimmer did know about it, she could've won by other means. But like all villains who think they've finally gained great power, she was overconfident.
01:04:57 This is a leftover from the ORIGINAL SCRIPT of the movie (back when the "EquestriaN Girls" were named _precisely_ because they have "hooves" instead of "feet").
The song was written by Daniel Ingram using the notes from the script writters about "The Project" before HASBRO changed things; remaining because it was "fun" and not intrusive to the story.
-> Just like "The Wondercolts" Rarity was talking about is the football team of "Canterlot HighSchool" (CHS) that Rainbow Dash is the (supposed) leader.

01:08:00 My understanding is that Sunset had nothing to do with what Flash found in the trashcan. That was a (failed) ATTEMPT from Snips & Snails to fullfill her orders (they not know how to use Photoshop and instead tried a literal "cut, paste, copy" method).
-> Sunset did not bring the "original" glued photos; but a color replica [properly "corrected"].

17:00 (Back at its inception in 2011) DHX´s called internally this "first MLP Movie" as the _PROJECT "Through The Mirror"_ [way before HASBRO secured the international TRADEMARK rights for "Equestria Girls" as an new, independent Franchise (with the Heart_Horseshoe logo) ].
30:07 [TRIVIA]: The second picture is the previous "Fall Formal", while first and third pictures correspond to the "Spring Flings" of the previous 2 years. This last event was also referenced by Rarity as the "Last Spring Debacle", meaning she was the "friendly competition" that Sunset "backstabbed" to get the crown (as otherwise she would have losed), being her "Start of Darkness" moment [she was rather inconspicuous, low_profile & "tame" on her first 24 months on Earth].

51:22 TRIVIA: The "blonde, all_green_wearing girl" is supposed to be Twilight Sparkle´s voice actress: Tara Strong (she even had a pet rabbit).

As you can see, Twilight has always being interpreted as a "smart black" girl.
-> They did changed BigMac´s color skin to avoid "issues" with native americans (as his _lack of vocalization_ could send up the wrong message).
Also, there were no "feet" on the original idea for the movie, as all "humans" had hooves instead (hence why the "EquestriaN Girls" name, instead of "Pedestrian Girls").
-> Because Twilight & Sunset were unicorns from "the other side of the mirror", their _human forms_ had a distinct _reversed_ splitted "cloven hoof" [so the hoofprints would look like "hearts" like other unicorn_type humans like Rarity, but "going backwards"].

Interesting. That early design of EG Twilight makes her look like a witch attending Hogwarts or something, especially from how she has a Harry Potter style wand.
Also, that issue of changing Big Mac´s color skin was stupid. Especially since native Americans are not red at all, but brown. I know this because I know someone who is a native American Indian from Canada. Honestly, people are just silly!
31:40 Spike represents the writters at DHX complaining to the HASBRO´s executive medling in the story (as they DEMANDED that there would be a "crowning" of Twilight as a _princess_ in the movie... even if that did not make any sense).
To be fair, it was never shown onscreen if Twilight had the FAKE CROWN on her saddlebag/backpack (it was IMPLIED, yet never confirmed visually); so even if Principal Celestia believed that Fluttershy took the "wrong crown" (left outside, on school grounds); it still does not explain where is the actual "school crown" (or why this this "Twilight person" had a suspiciously similar one in the first place).
But even if Twilight "forgot to bring it", there is nothing preventing her from going back through the statue/mirror and get it (same thing for sleeping, she could have done it in the Crystal Empire Castle).
-> I assume she did not wanted to give Sunset Shimmer an excuse to break the "framework" of the portal (at the horse statue base); specially after revealing her pressence in that world [ you have to remember that Sunset´s "fake scheme" was getting the power of the crown to RULE the highschool with magic, her further plans of "Invading Equestria" with mind_controled_teenagers was a secret that MAYBE only Snips & Snails knew (assuming they were inteligent enough to piece it out from Sunset´s self-monologuing)].
49:30 Because of Wikia´s Rules about how to _interpret_ information from "fictional sources"; the fact that "Sunset´s Rival" WAS ACTUALLY RARITY can not be added on the page itself [you may find it on the "talk page" as part of a discussion].
-> The only way it could be included will be if a "Director´s Commentary" version (from a DVD) adressed it directly; or if one of the writters/producers of this movie said it on an interview transcribed to a PUBLICATION (something registered on ISBN), instead of simply "saying it" on an MLP convention (or writting it on twitter).
Thoughts on Equestria Girls
* Sunset Shimmer is one of those characters I like even though she does awful things; she's a great villain, and her hair is a bonus. Same category as Discord, Tirek, Chrysalis, Nightmare Moon, Starlight Glimmer and Diamond Tiara.
* Twilight adjusting to human life made the movie for me, lol. I also feel sorry for Spike since he's *still* crushing on Rarity even when she's human.
* This movie convinced me and hopefully convinces you to *never* question Pinkie Pie! The rules of the MLP universe do not apply to her.
* Snips and Snails are just as incompetent and useless as ever but this time there's a kick; they're both dicks.
* Trixie is my 3rd favorite character, so seeing her in human form is of course a plus.
* Heaven forbid they make a human version of Zepher Breeze (Fluttershy's brother) as I never want to see him again! *Worst Pony*
* "Stomp your hooves, turn around" The reason they sing "hooves" and not "feet" is because they are wearing pony ears and tail.
* 1:05:20-1:05:23 Diamond Tiara shaking that ass.....again!
* Speaking of Diamond Tiara, the movie would've been better if she and Silver Spoon were Sunset's lackeys instead of Snips and Snails. Diamond is basically a mini Sunset and from what I've seen is smart and calculating.
* 1:11:10 If I woke up and that was the first thing I saw, I'd be having heart palpitations due to fear. Great way to start out a morning : )

Ok, "Worst Pony" may have been too harsh towards Zepher Breeze, but still, he's on my list of hated characters. That manipulative Gladmane as well. Btw, do you have a top 10 most hated characters? Take your time responding because there is a lot of douche bags to choose from, lol.
As for the ages of the characters here, we see that Sunset has won three awards, implying she is a Senior. Rarity said Sunset will torment them "until they graduate" implying she and the rest of the main 5 are also seniors.
Cmc and Diamond Tiara are probably freshmen.
As for the ponies themselves, my guess is:
Twilight: 18-21
Pinkie Pie: 20
Rainbow Dash: 21 (Pinkie Pride shows 21 candles on Rainbows cake)
Fluttershy: 21-22 (1 year older than Pinkie and perhaps a few months older than Rainbow)
Apple Jack/Rarity: 25 Apple Jack runs a farm and is in business with Filthy Rich, while Rarity owns 3 fashion businesses and cares for Sweetie Belle.
"Helping Twilight win the crown" & "A friend for life" are my favorite songs from this movie.
Edit: I forgot to say A lot of the background characters in the Equestria girls series were created just for EQG but when a human version of a background character from Pony land appears you will definitely notice.
P.s Since Flash dated sunset shimmer (Its also safe to assume he more than likely kissed Sunset) & has feelings for twilight its pretty safe to say he is the closest character to reaching beastiality (Well its more like interspecies than beastiality) since they are technically ponies but aren't ponies at the same time.

I can see why. "Helping Twilight win the crown" is the catchiest song of the movie.
Well, I wouldn't say beastiality, I'd more call it interspecieism. The reason for that is because beastiality, in my eyes, is meant for a human to be sexually attracted to animals without human-like sapience/anthropomorphism traits. It's kind of a complicated matter, but whether it's beastiality or not, depends on ones opinion.

-> There are other "background humans" that were modified because of similar "race issues" ( hence why there are less "cameos" from ponies of Ponyville than expected, with many "original new" designs for the "Canterlot Highschool setting" that do not exist in Equestria ).

Equestria Girls Stuff (in general):
. 4 "Movies" (~90 minutes each) -> All 4 of them BEFORE any "special".
. 3 "Short Specials" ( grouped together as long as 1 movie ); After EQG4.
. Lots of "3 minutes shorts" [as much "onscreen time" as HALF of a FiM "season"].
. 4 "Long Specials" (~40 to ~60 minutes each); all happening before FiM S8.

Well, I don't know if that's possible. I haven't reached 1000 subs yet, and I've already recorded my reactions to nearly halfway through season 7 (episode 12 to be precise).
Also, I've manage to download pretty much all of the Equestria Girls Stuff so far, so I can react to them later.
@@Raptormon132 It is nothing TOO terrible (for continuity sake); since there is little interaction between the two franchises ["pony stuff" events affects Equestria Girls more than the other way around].
-> Be sure you downloaded the "DVD full versions" of the movies (not the tv releases that got "cut" for advertisement time).

I looked at the hidden cameo in the credits you mentioned, and it turned out to be Derpy. Although, it's okay, since I saw Derpy during the Cafeteria Song. But I'll bear it in mind when I watch the others. It kind of reminds me of the cut scenes at the end of every Marvel movie.
Just to answer the photo question at 1:08:26, I don't think they pasted the Twilight image onto the other picture. What it seems like is they used a photo copier or photo or similar machine and overlaid them and the copied picture was just one solid image. At my old job people would ask me to do that for them all the time. Still wouldn't have looked that real, though.
Idk, this is Snips and Snails we're talking about. If they're as dumb as their counterparts, I don't see them operating a photo copier or any machine for that matter.

Well, they're smart enough to film and snap pictures on their phones, so they could be smart enough to operate photo copier. However, they're dumb enough to not destroy the evidence of framing Twilight that Flash found in the library's bin. LOL!

Idw released released a short comic called the Fall of Sunset Shimmer. There is a comic dubbed version of that on UA-cam. There hasn’t been any retcon of that story.
That comic IS NOT CANON.
It was entirely based from the "infodump" Celestia gives in this movie (not from "The Script" or "The Bible" for the movie project); simply because "IDW" (Ideas & Design Works) has NO ACCESS to any of the data from DHX ( Decode HalifaX Media).
considering your issue with ponies eating meat.... what other purpose is there for pigs to be had on applejacks farm other than meat?
Meat also mainly comes from Pigs, Cow, Chicken/Turkey/Duck, and Fish/Shellfish. Not horse.

If i remember correctly a member of the staff said Applejack uses them to find truffles.
This is a good movie. Though easily the weakest of the four. Starlight Glimmer is an overall better character than Sunset Shimmer. Especially with the redemption.
