BROOKE, may i suggest some thing ?? I watched the white goat trying to turn her head when she was on the stand and she had trouble doing it. Pull back the stand so the doe has room enough that her face isn't right up against the wall. When you go to massage her udder, be sure your hands are good and warm, the same when you wash their udders. Be sure the water and your hands are completely warm.
My does hated my husband because his hand were never warm and they faught him. Do in turn, he would be mean to them. I put a stop to that and did all the milking myself.
It just amazes me how the Emus have their own secret language in the courting stages and when Goldie starting laying those beautiful eggs and Nugget slowly started to cover up the eggs to protect them, it is just the coolest thing on the planet. Nugget is the "GOAT", he's pretty awesome.
The phrase "you big ox" certainly applies to Moody! He is a gentle giant and has a beautiful home on your farm.
Rocky and Bandit are 2 of the most beautiful dogs! I still can’t believe that Brooke just rescued them from a parking lot.
Putting food near the nest could attract predators close to it, like rats and raccoons. Not eating for the incubation period reduces the smell of the papa, and also prevents excessive fouling of the nest with his droppings. Scent camoflage as well as coloration camoflage are important to the safety of the nestlings.

This makes so much sense. And, this is how these birds do their thing, so Nugget's body MUST be capable of doing it. To eat would be unnatural for him at this time. Hard for humans to watch tho.

I looked up the tallest steer living today and it is Tommy the Ox and he is in Cheshire Mass. He is 6'1" from hoof to shoulder. He is going into the Guinness Book of World Recirds this year. Maybe you should measure Moody again to see where he stands. lol

I see him everytime I pass by. From one farm to another I passed by and picked up some eggs even though I got plenty on my own farm. We got to support our local farmer .Moody is a awesome looking dude!!!

I remember when Carl sat on the ostrich eggs and Jami and Lester were so worried about how he had lost weight and looked terrible - Jami cried even, but he became a proud papa and recovered will. Moody at 3,000 pounds - WOW.
It really was alarming how Carl became so skinny! Nature is amazing. 😊
Yes I remember that. We were all worried about Carl. But he eventually gained the weight back.

Brooke, when applying the salve, try resting your other hand or your head on her body which may help to calm her. My uncles always milked the cows with their head rested against the cow. Also, closer to time, start using a bowl as you will when milking. Just get them used to it. They are doing so well staying back ready to go to the milk room and getting on the stand. Well done. ❤

Wow, Moody is nearly 3000 pounds! A ton and a half. He is a really big, big boy. It's a good thing he is such a sweetheart even if he does have his off days when he doesn't want to be loved on. Jason, I know you and Nugget have a special bond, but don't worry. He will be ok, and maybe he will be a daddy if some of those eggs hatch.

I remember Lester worrying about Carl when he was sitting on eggs and how much condition Carl lost. He tried feeding Carl without any success.

Jason Lester on I'm Survivor Ostrich never moved off his eggs did stand up a few times to turn eggs but never ate anything looked terrible by the end of his sitting. 😢But he was fine and it was lovely watching him bring up the babies. He was very protective of them.

I wouldn't have guessed anywhere close to 2970 lbs. Wow! When I was a young girl my dad's cousin had a milking farm and we used to go visit them a few times a year. So I have been around milking cows a lot. moo man is one big boy!
