love that pirate voice!! 😂 What would you recommend doing with an excerpt where the character makes up a song, & worse yet, in a foreign language? am i expected to sing & come up w a melody? great vid, thanks!
Nice video Jay. Personally, as a writer rather than a narrator, having a narrator that can bring to life the characters, with unique voices is much more powerful. But only if they can do it well. Otherwise stay with the slight modifications versus full on character voices. You are better than most narrators at the voices. In my opinion again, it is a huge differentiator to be able to make the characters come alive and assist in the visual for the reader while associating that character with a specific voice. Especially while most listeners are driving, etc. It makes it easier for them to recognize which character is speaking, and follow the story content rather than trying to figure out which character is talking - while they are also focused on the road 🙂.
Very helpful video. I've recently completed my first audiobook and occasionally ran into challenges over how to make a particular character's voice distinct. Particularly when I had three or more characters in a scene. I did all right in most instances, but a few were more challenging. BTW, when you read the passage from Dracula, the screen went black. Not sure if that was intentional or not.
Black Screen: An artistic choice befitting Dracula? Or an uploading error/corruption? Who's to say...

Yes, more videos about narrating would be helpful! Thank you.

Oh fantastic. That must've been a bug in the upload that I failed to catch. Oh well! Thanks for the heads up.
