After sustaining an injury, Pomni found herself confined to her bed, receiving care and attention from Jax and everyone around her. Despite recovering from her injury, Pomni continued to feign sickness. When Ragatha uncovered the truth about Pomni's deception, she made the decision to expose her.

Six troubled human souls, including the timid newcomer and series protagonist Pomni; the trouble-making rascal Jax; the cheerful optimist Ragatha; the emotionally fragile Gangle; the moody perfectionist Zooble; and the paranoid veteran Kinger, find themselves trapped in the Amazing Digital Circus. This virtual reality game is run by a quirky but oblivious artificial intelligence named Caine and his enthusiastic assistant Bubble. Sent on relentless and sometimes traumatic adventures, Pomni and the others strive to maintain their sanity and uncover a path back to the real world.
