- Dark Shadows. Yep, you forgot all about--maybe on purpose... but it IS a movie that happened. And it is FULL of sins.
Thursday: superhero sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

As someone who has been in the middle of the f***ing woods, I can say for sure that there are, in fact, McDonald's there.
Wrong.
Yeah, like on the off ramps of interstates and shit... There are definitely McDonalds in more remote locations.
sin for thinking anywhere just off an interstate is a remote location
there are McDonalds everywhere
Yep. I mean have you ever been to Sweden? You can find malls out in the middle of nowhere.
One thing I don’t understand about the werewolf scene is, why did the witch have her enemy’s daughter turned into a werewolf? I mean, why give your worst enemy such a powerful ability which will come back to bite you in the ass... LITERALLY!
She wasn't supposed to gain control over her powers.
In the show, werewolves attack people randomly, often lethally.
Poor planning
Literally a golem.
Sam Weaver because she'd know that Caroline's mother be very angry at it and surprised about Caroline being a wear wolf and angie would have her revenge.
She wasn't suppose to gain control of her wearwolf powers she was suppost to reandomly attack people so that she would have no idea what she did or what happened but over the years Caroline gained control as she memorised and realised what shed become and happened.
I actually kinda liked this movie.
I think it's a good movie in a so bad it's good way, a little like Mars Attack, you know it's bad but you can't help, (at least for me) to have fun watching it
And you have the right to like it.
Aye!
I liked this too, even if this was one of those twilight bandwagon movies
same!!!!!
I would actually welcome a second movie , give Johnny a chance to show his own Adam's Family , 2 vampires a werewolf and a dark sinister child. That actually could be alot of fun.
I think locking him ina mausoleum would actually make more sense then burying him in the woods. You find a coffin in the ground somewhere that isn't a graveyard, someone's gonna wanna open it (some people don't watch horror movies), but you find a coffin in a mausoleum, you don't think twice about it, because that's what's supposed to be in a mausoleum. Well, that and a bunch of teens getting drunk and/or high (probably and).
aaaaaaand THAT'S why Joshua did it like that. and in a secret room no less.
"the crabs that died when she crashed into the rocks" hahahaha for some reason I couldn't stop laughing at that line
i liked this movie, although it probably helps that i had no idea this wasnt the original
This was a tv show not a movie before this movie came out
There were actually Dark Shadows movies based on the show before this one. The 'ball' scene is actually a direct homage to the first Dark Shadows film, as is the the year in which this version takes place. I love this movie and I love the original show, but that might be because I saw the show for the campy glorious mess that it was.
I love the 60s version, and the 90s version as well as the books and audio dramas. THIS MOVIE GOT EVERY SINGLE THING WRONG!!!! EVERY SINGLE THING!!!!
+SunnysFilms I just know about the 60s show
I honestly hated the movie because I was semi familiar with the TV show because my mom and sister use to watch it and they knew where Burton f**ked up with a vengeance.
The full idiom is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." It means the exact opposite. Bonds we form by choice are stronger than those imposed on us by birth.
Avellania Nobody believes me when I tell them this!
Holy shit that's so metal
Avellania, really? I'd never heard that before! Where is it from? Who sait it?
Right if you take the more recent idom from witch stuff which is basically made to be a contradiction.
That's very interesting. I never knew that.

Wouldn't moon light burn vampires because it's technically light from the sun reflecting off the moon
Oh crud, you're right.
It's not direct sunlight, so no.
Oh course, but back when people thought vamps were real, they didn't understand that kind of stuff.
In most settings they can get away with windows and open doors, so if it has to be direct sunlight I imagine the light reflected from the moon would be significantly diminished.
+DJas118 in some movies doesnt flash lights burn vampires ?
Self-called Victoria Winters is literally doing everything else, except being a governess - a job she's actually paid to do.
Shes in like 1% of the movie, rewatching the full one im shocked at how involved she is.
if anyone stayed to see the extras at the end... omg the sweeney todd thing got me
It's actually insulting to people from Liverpool like me
"A woman doctor! What an age this is..."

Mook 21 I was the 69th
This could have been awesome. Talented cast and director, and a story based on an old soap opera starring the COOLEST FUCKING VAMPIRE Barnabas Collins. The fatal flaw was that for some god forsaken reason they made it a comedy. The original show was dead serious, with Collins struggling to keep his vampirism a secret while suppressing his urges to feed. Why Hollywood? Why this shit? Now this is what people will think of when I mention Dark Shadows
I can confirm that, after a year of opportunity for anyone to learn otherwise. I didn't know it was based on a soap, and probably found out and forgot twice by the time anyone reads this.
The King of the Penguins It could have been a great hybrid of Penny Dreadful,House of Cards and American Horror Story. Balancing soapy melodrama and psychological horror. Maybe with a dash of dark comedy. But no it had to be this. Also it should have been a series not a movie.
The King of the Penguins The Fatal Flaw is the music. Using a oldies soundtrack didn't go with the movie at all
The King of the Penguins If they would have tried the same thing on audiences now the kids would have never wanted to watch it. So instead they had to drop oldies music in that had nothing to do with the movie and bad comedy
Just AGuy This was set in the early 70s. They played 70s music.
Jeremy says "I am Harambe" at 17:26
Nice call. Good spot. DING
Yeah I seen that part lmao.
SoFarGone It's so funny right ?
All of us are Harambe, my friend.
No he doesn't. He doesn't say that. The video does not extend to the time slot you claim in your comment. You have posted an erroneous statement easily proven false by a simple click upon the conveniently blue-colored numbering provided by UA-cam. This is important. We must all realize the profundity of this mistake. The more of us who stand up and join together in this issue, the less likely such mishaps will occur in the future. We may live in an age of errors and falsity, but our children and grandchildren and even remoter posterity shall inherit a world of truth and light.

She is actually blonde, just dyes her her.
Also: Eva Green is not naked: +infinite sins

I feel bad for Eva, she lives with her dog and she call it her husband, I find it very sad

This is literally just Jack Sparrow as a vampire. This is literally the entire movie
Mid 17th century is in the 1600s, not the 1700s. So either Barnabas migrated over to Maine in the 1600s and you got the 150 years off by an entire century, or Barnabas migrated over in the 18th century, either case showing that your calculations were done wrong.
Inquisitive Lady i was thinking that too
1780's in the original series
Isobel Duncan But Barnabas and his family already lived there then - his parents just built the "new house" Collinwood
Barnabas was not an immigrant in the original show. His ancestors migrated in the 1600's.
Did Depp's outfit remind anyone else of Alucard from Hellsing?
a bit yeah
In that they have black button ups...but Alucard also has that hat and red cloak,
Atem Andrew And those glasses
Kinda sorta
EETSHITUTUBANDGUGL Wouldn't the police girl have made this movie so much better?
As far as it goes for the whole "Giving the electric guitar an acoutic guitar sound" sin, there actually are effect pedals for electric guitars that make them sound like acoustic guitars, it doesn't sound to fake or anything either they are pretty legit.
Yes! I fucking loved this movie when it first came out!
................................. how?
+Murcia doxial I Kinda Like It Too Its Just My Opinion
Natsu Dragneel thats not an answer to my question
Because this specifc UA-cam-User felt a feeling of approval to this fucking movie.
Liking stuff is not rocket science and it isn't always tied to specific reasonable arguements.
Hell, my reason for liking this movie is "I like Tim Burton-stuff" and that's it.
+BlackLion that a really shit reason to like something...just because it a tim Burton movie
Can I just say, I'm so happy and appreciative for all the history checking cinemasins does. HOW COME YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER AT THIS THAN THE PPL MAKING MOVIES?? (my favourite: the bit about the marriage age, bc jfc that stereotype pisses me off)
I think the reason the mother screams to kill/greatly weaken Angie is because she may be a banshee, their scream drains the soul and/or is the last thing you hear just before you die.
The mythology is different depending on region/location.
That's my theory anyway lol, what does everyone else think?
This was so much more entertaining than the film itself. I love your voice, I wish it narrated my life it's awesome thank you for your epic channel and the fact that it's free and not in the greedy red zone. Thank you, keep up the good work.
Wait. This isn't a parody of twilight?
Ella S actually it's a parady of the original Dark Shadows
Meow Meow twilight inspired so many vampire movies
I've never seen this movie, but I lost my shit at how reverently the emo Barnacles guy whispered, "Mephistopheles," at the McDonald's logo.
Charlotte Fernau Barnacles
I just thought, how would McDonald's serve 9 billion people when there are only about 7 billion people in the world
9 billion burgers and most people have bought more than one.
Restaurants are weird, man they count people served as servings. Meaning if someone ordered ten items of the menu they would count as ten people. And if one person came there every day they would get counted as a "new" person each time. So they have served nine billion servings (items of the menu).
Some people go more than once.
Comedy on the Go! well the world is never exact... when you think about it someone is dying while I'm typing this very 3 seconds someone is born...
Maybe they mean 9 Billion orders served.
Why would he study black magic when his parents die instead of turning into batman
He was too old to begin the training.
+BulletTooth504 oh of... He could be a pirate batman
The only way that Barnabas could have living descendants without having any family members would be if he got Angie pregnant. This makes her character seem even more like the rightful heroine of the story as it means that, rather than just having a quick fling with a servant girl who couldn't let him go, Barnabas actually had a quick fling with a servant girl and then left her to be an unmarried single mother in the 1600s (one of the worst times to be an unmarried single mother) just so he could marry a girl with more money.
Cheeseanonioncrisps But then she would have just killed the baby? There's no way in hell she'd have let a descendant of the man who wronged her so badly live to become involved in the fishing trade and one she actively has problems with?
Cheeseanonioncrisps couldn't he have had cousins, aunts, uncles or other distance relatives?
oh yes she would have his baby.
In the show , his family were distant cousins.
They're descended from a cousin of his, Daniel Collins.
Knock a sin off for Jackie Earle Haley.
And add a sin for putting Jackie Earle Haley in this sh*t.
Rorschach was in this? Woah, I completely forgot.
Oh man, they dragged Jackie Earle Haley into this?
He is like one of the best parts of the movie too :)

It was the 60s they were probably high when they thought of it
the video should have started with "redundancy" **DING**
Tim Burton's next video should be about beating a living dead horse.
Starring Johnny Depp with a pale white face, and the horse is actually a horse with a tiny body and large head...... cause reasons.
That sounds like a Rob Zombie song
Deadpool might be Thursday's video. There's no other superhero movie that came out recently.

They already said it wasn't, and civil war isn't out on dvd yet.
but in the description of i am legend eww video, it was written "superhero sins (not deadpool)"

At the 10:44 time in video not only is this Jonathan Frid(original Barnabas) but also Lara Parker(original Angelique), and David Selby(original Quentin) as they walk into the ball together. Don't blink.
I used to like Tim Burton.
Then I saw his version of Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
After reading the books, I avoided that movie.
Anipanda saaaame
? being fair though, the books were so much better and far more detailed, the movie is twisted around and completely different
I still like Tim Burton... liked him even more after seeing Ms Peregrine. i don't give a shit about the book, as long as the movie works.
Petrichor I regret my life after seeing that movie. It's garbage.
Straight up amazes me how dead on centre you can be with some movies, and with others just miss everything completely.
Do secret life of pets!!!!

the movie sucks
+Scarlett Fooshi that's the point
+Mishak Heyman I watched in theaters
My reaction to the secret life of pets:

exactly.
I love this channel. Just thought I'd say it... In case I haven't already in a previous video. I saw this link and I got Dark Shadows. I like to watch the movie first before I watch the Sin video, to see what's wrong with it, and I always enjoy seeing all the sins of films. Please never stop.
Yo can you do Sweeney Todd
Sarime Villa there's nothing wrong with sweeney todd!
Sweeney Todd is amazing there is nothing wrong with it- ok some stupid decisions where made but still
@@lemmonpie5914 That's not true. Sweeney todd is a great movie, of course, (I really love it myself for many reasons, first of which is young Jamie Campbell Bower) but something is wrong with every movie, including this one. Also, he can do SinemaWins after SinemaSins, and that is going to be great! So, yes, please, do Sweeney Todd!
Yessssss
I ❤ Tim Burton & the cast, but this wasn't his or anyone's best movie.
AGREE!
So much fangirling on Eva Green XD
Say what you want about this shitty movie but that microphone feedback was legit. Everybody knows Alice Cooper has a tiny amp surgically implanted into his left shoulder.
10:56 This is without a doubt the absolute worst sin they have ever done and will ever do... The makeup job they did to make him look like he did in the 1970s is absolutely freaking spot on and the only even remote thing you could complain about is the makeup making his nose look slightly sharper than it did then... Source: Literally google image "Alice Cooper 1980". Then google image "Alice Cooper today"... Then Google Image "Alice Cooper 1970"
*He literally looks younger in this than he did in 1970... Arms included!*
I watched this movie several times and I still dont get the plot
That's because there is none. Tim Burton just wanted anther excuse to drag good muses, Depp, Carter, Pheifer, and Greene into one movie.
the plot is barnabas has been turned into a vampire by an evil witch who kiled his parents who then buries him alive for 200 years , then he wakes up finds the remnants and brings the family to glory again , while seeking revenge against said evil witch
wiliam holmes i think kinda shat in your comment with my answer

Johnny Depp is always amazing.
1) He’s hilarious.
2) He’s an amazing actor.
3) He is basically my second favorite actor ever.
4) I have never seen Johnny Depp interact with kids and teens in a movie and I find it adorable.
11:47 its called an Acustics Simulator Pedal
While I'm not sure about amps in the 70s, there are amps that can make electric guitars sound acoustic.
I remember watching this TV show as a child. It scared the crap out of me for weeks. Me and my girlfriend were not supposed to watch it. We were 5 years old. I'm 63 today.
This adaptation doesn't even have the charm of the 1990's Ben Cross version!
The soundtrack right before Josette's death is one of the best
AS for the bit about the werewolf girl not transforming before being able to hide it while growing up, there's a lot of werewolf lore/stories in which those who are born werewolves or bitten as children only transforming for the first time during puberty. So, by that point, she'd already be pretty secretive and moody. Making it seem pretty normal that there'd be times she aggressively avoids her family for no apparent reason.
Everything wrong with Ratatouille
Yes!
I think they did that
+Jeavano Flora No. I don't think they have.
Okay but the end was funny when he dubbed over Sweeney Todd. 😭😭
Its explained later in the movie that the house was built for a staff of 150 servants so yeah. She wasn't the only one in the house just the only one important to the movie apparently.
FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM?
Sins I would retract :
1) 0:38 . Even if the term New World peeked in the mid 17th century, it was still used much later, well later in the 19 th century. This is because even if it was explored and colonized extensively ever since Columbus "discovered" it in 1492, it was still New, compared to the European world that had many more centuries of western civilization history behind it.
2) Retracted and added 15:05 : That is clearly reminiscent of a banshee. Who's scream is actually fatal. Whence the reason the witch dies. BUT, it's supposed to be fatal to ALL who hear it. Meaning everyone in that room should be dead.
Does this movie make any sense?
It does...IF you had seen the original series. This is a camp version of a 1960's soap opera. The soap was *entirely* camp, and we all loved it! Search for it sometime, it's deliciously campy.
+Dodi Tov is it a book or tv series?
but you can tell the film makers really loved the show. that's something at least
it was pretty serious originally.
+Grainne Quinn It's a tv series. The first ~100 episodes is on UA-cam, and the next ~200 is on Hulu
I'm watching the original series - Barnabas never married Josette, Angelique put a love spell on her and his uncle. And there was a cousin who carried on the bloodline, cause the only person who survived (except for Barnabas, I guess) was Barnabas' father - who made everyone think Barnabas went to England, when he instead put him in a chained coffin in a secret room in the family mausoleum.
The blowjob was hilarious, cause since the original series ran in the 60s, no reference to sex ever!
Carolyn asking where her dad is is a reference to the original show - since he is never seen there either, and it is thought that Elizabeth killed him. No idea about the werewolf thing, I still have like 3-400 episodes left. But there are werewolves! And every other supernatural creature - David's mom is a human phoenix, for example! Don't ask me how that works.
Even the books of old time know and say that McDonald is the devil.LolololololololololololololoolololLolololololololololololololoololol
9:42 Did not expect to see the queen of hearts from alice in wonderland here.
oh no i like this movie
Eva Green is the best aspect
It disappoints me that she was in such an obviously lame movie. Chloe Grace Moretz is young but Eva Green should know better.
Dubious Wretch I feel miss peregrine's gonna be good or at least better than dark shadows don't you think?
François Picard Definitely!
Dubious Wretch I am happy for Eva Green, it seems like this movie is gonna show more of her geeky side
Since everyone else is arguing about it,... @ 0:20 "blood of the covenant, is thicker than water of the womb" is the actual phrase. Before people misunderstood it to be "blood is thicker than water," it was thought to be a contrast of the spiritual versus the physical, as in "the blood of the covenant with Christ..." Which would make the suggestion that Barnabas was bound by it,... odd. But by all means, use all the meanings of the phrase and sin away!
The ironic thing is this is my favorite movie😂😂😂😂
My favorite movie and cinemasins' video
at 3:57 you ask why Josette's portrait is in the big room. In the original show Angelique puts a spell on Josette that causes her to fall in love with Barnabas's uncle Jeremiah, and they get married.
But in the original, Barnabas hangs the portrait in The Old House to punish Angelique. It remains there throughout the series.
but theres no place like.... Liverpool!
I was very disappointed with this movie. I was expecting so much more than this. And I know there will be some Depp-fan (who cream themselves at the sound and sight of his name) that will disagree with me. However this movie was not Depp's best. Dark Shadows, I do not think was ever meant to be a comedy. For all of those who doubt me, just watch the original series from the 1960s.
The Liverpool song and I am Batman just crack me up every time. 😂
When I was younger and I watched this I couldn't look at the screen when my older sister's friend was over. I was on the top bunk and I barfed a carrot cake on her friend it was red and orange and It was worth it.

this one has some of the most comedic dialog A+
You should have removed 10 sins for the wonderful opening credit, with Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues!! I just love it!!
"Medical professionals take and medicate a little girl for, as far as they know, having an imaginary friend"
She could have just said she was talking to Jesus. He is a wildly accepted imaginary friend who people can freely talk to and not get medicated. 🙂
Pale makeup and terrible wigs the movie
the orig. DS movie was much much better, beautiful costumes, a real gothic mansion and it was spooky and scary the three orig movie trailers are still on youtube called "House of Dark Shadows" from MGM 1970
Plus the series had more of a horror theme
Not only did they pack a lot in the movie, they made it into a comedy when it was not one. Also, there was never a werewolf in the original show. They made up a lot of other things as well. It is no wonder the movie failed.
The Sweeny Todd joke at the end frickin killed me
“Blood is thicker than water”
What are you doing? Quoting lyrics from the song “hey brother” or something? 😂
Edit: when I quoting not like quoting as like word for word it’s kinda near the lyrics when i heard it .-.
I think this movie would've been better from Angelique's perspective.
A jilted servant girl who happens to be a witch gets revenge on her cheating rich-brat lover by cursing him with eternal life and stealing his family's source of income by becoming a savvy business woman. But when he shows up 200 years later, looking to restore the family fortune using his vampy powers, she takes steps to protect her business and the town economy she built.
I see nothing wrong with this idea.
By turning him into a Vampire, he doesn't die by face-planting onto rocks from a great height? ........Ok.
There should have been at least a dozen sin counters for when David mentions his 15 year old cousin touches herself and makes kitten noises... How was this not mentioned?!?
I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't a 'good' movie, no, but it was pretty fun, and I liked Johnny Depp's acting. Of course, it probably helps that I didn't really know about the original soap opera prior to seeing the movie, so I had no expectations regarding it.
Pretty much my opinion
I saw most of the soap opera in the nineties when it was shown on Sci-Fi and watched the TV movie and the later mini-series but I still loved this. Burton does things for cinematic effect not accuracy, which I guess accounts for a lot of CinemaSins 'sins', period. The original soap was basically written pretty much from week to week so poor continuity and corniness are quite accurate and were part of the original's charm. This movie is the best fun if you're in the right mood.
Did not know there was a soap opera
Johnny Depp ruined Barnabas Collins. They should have gotten a real actor and they should have made a real horror opera
Johnny Depp has three levels of acting. Jack Sparrow, sober jack Sparrow, and Johnny Depp.
He's a great guy...but his range as an actor is fucking pathetic, and his career is only still alive because of pale, fat girls that are obsessed with Burton movies

What's with filmmakers and Eva Green's violent sex scenes? Is that some kind of fetish Eva has? Or the filmmakers have of Eva?
Eva Green is kinda of a contradictional woman, she is really shy in real life and like to do women that are not like herself because she doesn't like to be with a lot of people and in a strange way she really likes to play the weird femme fatale! It's kinda of her thing, her first film was the dreamers it's on youtube, it said it all for itself!

Why not have both?
Witch's spells are varying levels of difficulty and witches have varying strengths of powers. That's why sometime a look or gesture is enough and other times require incantations and/or ingredients. Now you know.
I guess that would matter if witches or magic were real.

I loved the beautiful blonde haired green eyed Witch from the original Dark Shadows, actress Lara Parker Her huge eyes and gestures cast a lot of spells

it's a special recipe made by British film studio Hammer.. it's called "Kensington gore" it's bright red, bold and theatrical. Burton being a big Hammer fan uses it a lot (this film was also inspired by Hammers Dracula.ad)
