In his "Then & Now", we had Erik run us through his collection of pro models from over the years. In this first part, he covers his time at Emerica, describes his designing process, and how his pro models were believed to be a "long shot."

Emerica should totally re-run the grey Ellington with the red toe dunk.

They did around 2009 or so. I believe that the model was called the Vette. Multiple colorways were released, but the shoe only lasted a handful of seasons. Bulky shoes, even as a retro release, just weren't selling as well for many companies.
@@ianturnbow7011 it didnt work at the time because phat skate shoes were starting to die out but if they released the Vette now it would sell out faaast. e'S and DC have been retroing alot of shoes the past two years and almost all of them sell out with a quickness. Nostalgia junkies like myself collect all the older style shoes. I don't foresee phat skate shoes making a full comeback anytime soon but now that they've been off the market almost a decade the fans have been fiending for them to come back.
the red/gray is def distinctive to me from “this is skateboarding”
still prefer thoose old thicker shoes than the skinny style skateshoes nowadays

I still got a few fresh pairs of Emerica Ellington 1s and 2s. I've sold most of my collection, but some shoes I wont ever let go. Too bad those EE3's never dropped, those looked like they'd be super sick. Erik was always such a nice guy whenever I saw him in my skateboarding days, I'll never forget his kindness. One of the best ever!

Always wanted those Bomb Pop Ellington 2s. He made the sickest sneakers when he was on Emerica. Wish they would do some reissues.

Old Emerica shoes looked so much better than their current design language.. Padded up in all the right places with catchy colorways... I feel like es has taken up the mantle of what Emerica once was.

1. Emerica Ellington (preferably red/grey OR dark brown/light brown colorways)
LEGENDARY SHOE FROM ELLINGTON!
2. IPath Cats (preferably black or the brown/orange colorway)

Honestly what's strange is I didn't like the Ellington, BUT I LOVED the brown color way. The light and dark brown looked awesome. My friend had a pair and despite not being fond of the other colors I loved the brown pattern

2 months? I had Templetons that last way longer than 2 months with constant skating. We weren't pros or anything but we skated all the fucking time. Do these shoe manufacturers expect ppl to buy new shoes every 2 months?
