@@WotanKlingsor as a man who went through the voice change, I am familiar with the sensation of yodeling lol. And it's not a sound I would want to use in classical music unless I am intentionally putting a glottal before a vowel for either pronunciation of dramatic effect. For pop music, sure.
@@WotanKlingsor I never said I don't use both registers. Quite the opposite actually. I definitely champion using both and as a Countertenor, I try as much as possible to use my chest voice the way mezzos and contraltos do. But the switch should still be as seamless as possible which is the exact opposite of yodeling.
@@JackieLanceTenor Then you are doing the right thing - not like the guy in the video who says you should avoid the passaggio and go down with your head voice instead of switching...
Ican sing counter tenor in choir but icant sing it in pop music or to sing like Mariah plss iwant to change my voice type teach me howw im gonna die if using male voice im not happy with my male voice
So what you're saying to countertenors is: Don't use chest voice... Well, singing without proper chest notes is WRONG. And you don't mix anything with anything... What you're doing is you bring your head voice down and this makes your low notes PROBLEMATIC and INAUDIBLE... If countertenors used their chest voice, their head voice would turn much bigger and they wouldn't sound like mosquitoes...
Well he never actually said that in the video. Countertenors are usually refered to as male singers who MAINLY use their head voice. But sure, tell the world-class countertenor that he's doing it wrong. :-D Generally speaking, when training a countertenor one of the main difficulties is learning to bring your head voice as low as possible. Of course with a proper technique there will always be a mixture especially in lower notes, but the goal of a countertenor is to make the head voice dominant in their entire range.
Ok, now that I see your other comment I'm a bit annoyed. You must be a "This is Opera" fan, throwing around the term mosquitoes. If you've ever actually heard Kangmin Justin Kim's singing you would know that he DOES mix in his chest. Quite well actually. His singing is some of the closest I've heard to a mezzo from a Countertenor. And he never said not to use chest anywhere in this video. He said you want to work on smoothing out the transition which is something that all singers have to learn to do as I'm sure you are aware. Maria Callas, being someone famous for chest voice, had to work on smoothing out her break no doubt.
@@noblesetsentimentalescountertenors dont have to sing roles that were created for castrato. there r roles that are created specifically for countertenors, mostly in modern operas. countertenors can also sing arias/roles that were written for trad fem voices. countertenors can sing any art songs. the thing that diffrentiate countertenors from tenors who use falsetto is how much they can utilize the falsetto register, how frequently they use falsetto in a song, and also the genre (tho, there are countertenors who sing contemporary songs).

I wondered how you were mixing the chest voice in like that when I heard you in Figaro, thanks for sharing !
Can I use the mix your using in this video to sing pop songs? Could it be possible to modify the vowels do match pop?
Yes, you can! Try to find videos of speech level singing
Thank you so much ❤️
Yes, we don't want to yodel like Shakira. Haha!
If you wanted to sing well, you would learn how to yodel
