I like when Richard looks over at the camera and gives us a little eyebrow raise and a joke. Makes it feel like we're his friend he brought along to his mates house. Great fun
LOL "No matter how much you cheat, it's only one hit." I couldn't stop laughing! Seriously though, these are awesome playthrough-tutorials. I have bought several games over the years solely based on the presentations here. Keep them coming!
Really loved the banter back and forth between Rich and Justin. Not only very educational but hilarious as well - Greg job, guys!! I do like the fluid turn mechanic in this game - kind of reminds me of Crossfire; but, with much better mechanics for armor and command.
About minute 19 we find out what happens if you roll four sixes. He never mentions if you roll five sixes. I imagine someone yells Yahtzee? Good video. Will now buy the game. Thanks.
@1:57:00 I believe this is done incorrectly. While the fire of the Bren is focused on the MG42 team, and they have a lot of shock, as per the rules, the *effects* of shock (in regards pinning and breaking) are spread across all sections within 4"the MG42 team (down to one man) and the rifle section adjacent. This makes perfect sense as they are in the same squad, right next to each other.
Thank you so much for doing this one great video. I had the rule set for quite some time now, but being a visual type I was trying by myself, but could not understand the game mechanics. Now I do thanks to you!
I really like this game, the game play is very easy, and makes the game fun to watch. As a military buff I can really see myself getting into this game. Plus Rich is a great teacher of the game and a funny bloke as well. Can watch him play all day.
Fantastic video, showing these rules in action, and giving a taste of how they work. It certainly generates a story to what happens, with its uncertainty of what will happen next. I play 28mm ww2 using another rule set at the moment, but will certainly try this sometime! More T.F.L. please.
Could watch you gaming the whole Day - please keep those coc-videos coming as they are informative and entertaining! Will order a set of rules soon. Cheers!
KamikazeBadger we play it at our local group and it is a fantastic rule set that gives you ( as a commander ) many tactical challenges. Is it perfect? No. But damn it's close. 15mm is a really nice scale for it as you get a real feeling of ground scale. If you get it you won't regret it.
Justin always looks like he has been invited to hang out with the school bully and his gang for the first time but is in constant fear that it's all a big joke and he is going to get a clout any second then have his dinner money stolen
i'm intrigued, and i already have a large collection of bolt action Germans i haven't used in a while. I'll have to see if i can persuade someone to join me for a skirmish.
My imagination was visualizing the battle. With sharpes practice and chain of command I feel have a little more spice than your average wargame rules. I always believe in Morale and command is very important in wargames (usually portrayed too general or focused on kills and firepower). I think you really need to have a counter for knocking down command levels to easy to lose track, it really shows how important on all actions and can change the outcome dramatically if players forget. Im not sure I like the dice tower, it needs a funnel when doing mass amount of die and hate seeing dice that register a hit knocked over from dice following. I feel for Richard for I'm a terrible dice thrower, have more chances in cards :P Fear those gamers who are lucky in dice and cards.
Love this vid! But you might want to consider using a lower gain on the audio in the future and try to use a bit of compression to cut the peaks. Very good job , though!
I am new to Chain of Command, in fact, wargames in general, so I just want to know. What do 1D2 those dice things mean? I would like to start getting into this. So if you could help me to would be much appreciated.
How exciting! There are plenty of great resources out there to 'how to get into x or y'. It a big but rewarding hobby! To answer your question, 1D6 or 3D6 or whatever are how many dice and what dice you roll. For instance 2D6 is 'roll two six-sided dice'. The first number is how many dice, 'D' is for dice, and the last number is how many sides that dice has. If you are used to family board games a six sided dice or 'D6' is very common but you may come across 4 sided (D4), 8 sided (D8), 9 sided (D9), 10 sided dice (D10) 12 sided (D12) and even 20 sided dice (D20). With the popularity of particularly board gaming, a dice with any amount of sides exists and probably have been made (have a google and a laugh)!
Ah ha! You're right...that's a pretty expensive kit. Was looking over at Warlords site - out of stock. Don't think I really want all the extra stuff...just the bridge. From what you can see in the video, it looks really nice. Thank you.
Numerous companies sell 28mm World War II era figures/vehicles. Simply do a web search for 28mm World War II miniatures and thereafter a search for 1/56th scale World War II vehicles/armor. There ye go. Enjoy.
Great terrain, like the scenario, well presented. Don't like the rule set though. Seems fairly restrictive and this patrol marker stuff don't make sense. Who would lock their units down in an open field with no cover ? Sorry guys I just don't get it.
Ok i love Richard games and particularly Chain of Command but seriously? The Defense of the Dunkerque sector was only fought by the French Army. It’s one of the most heroic act that the French army have done during 1940 campaign. It’s not nice to say that the Sector was defended by BEF troops. You could use any battle fought by the BEF in France in 1940 but not Dunkerque. It’s unfair
Not true. Many British units stayed behind to guard the perimeter while the main army withdrew. But of course, it was the French who defended the bulk of the perimeter. It’s often forgotten that about 100,000 of the 330,000 evacuated at Dunkirk were French. And most of them returned to France very soon after France surrendered at the end of June 1940.
@@sirrathersplendid4825 i know that. My grand father was one of them. He was evacuated and came back to France three days later to fight until the armistice. I’m not blaming the BEF or despite them I was just pointing the fact that the perimeter was defended only by the French army. Regards.
@@paulbourguignon3632 - That’s not what I’ve read. Many British troops were left behind to defend the Dunkirk perimeter while the bulk of the BEF were evacuated. Can’t say exactly how many, but it certainly wasn’t zero. Those who weren’t killed were taken into captivity and spent the rest of the war in German POW camps.
@@sirrathersplendid4825 I’m sorry to insist but the Lille-Dunkerque was under the command of the General Molinier. With unit of the 1st French army only. The BEF retreat without telling the French and the defensive perimeter have been modified under emergency. One division sacrificed itself knowing and accepting the fact that none of their men would be evacuated, it was the 12ème Division Motorisée d’Infanterie. I write it again the defense perimeter was only made by the French and some Belgians. Why is it always so difficult for any British people on you tube to give ANY credit to the French ? The only advice that I would Like to give you is to listen Churchill speech’s After Dynamo operation.
@@paulbourguignon3632 - What you mean difficult for Brits to give the French credit? I just stated very clearly that the French did the BULK of the work. On the whole the French soldiers fought very bravely despite the incompetence of some of their senior officers. (There were incompetent generals on the British side too - you don’t have exclusive rights to them!) The problem may lie in what you and I mean by the “Dunkirk perimeter”. I’ll agree with you that in the final few days the small perimeter around Dunkirk may well have been manned exclusively by French troops. However, while the Brits and French were retreating from Belgium towards Dunkirk they formed an ever-shrinking perimeter, which did contain Brits. This whole operation, even while the BEF were still in Belgium, is regarded by Brits as part of the Dunkirk operation.

Rewatching this, and I have to say, Richard is fantastic in these videos! What a great replay to "rewatch"! 🍻
i am not a miniatures game player myself, but this way of teach-and-play and the style conveyed: excellent, engaging, super fun. well done, guys.
First real tutorial I could follow how the game plays. Excellent reference learning the rules.
I could watch Richard playing all day. Too Fat Lardies rules are always good fun. Top Stuff.
Incredible that one of the game designers is teaching how to play the game. Brilliant game and brilliant Lardies!

excellent rules... really conveys the feel and importance of command

Great game hope you have more Chain of Command videos, really help to learn the game.
Great video. Very detailed and informative. I was totally submerged into the game. Bravo, guys!
Fantastic game. I've been curious to see how this plays. I'm impressed enough to pick this up and try it out with my local group.

Great play through, really enhanced the rules as we played our first game yesterday, many thanks.
Remarkably close finish. What an episode.
They always take the piss out of Justin but he's actually quite the canny Wargamer.
Easy to forget what a great set of rules these are.
This was fun to watch I think the older guy teaching you is a good sport and a gent.
Just bought the rules and saw this video - really useful and a good watch. Thank you.
very nice! I just recently found out about chain of command and after watching you guys play I have decided to pick a copy up
I have been hoping for a video such as this.
Excellent lets-play and tutorial, well presented and clear rules instructions. Even had the compulsory Justin foo-pah in thinking 2x3=4 :)
i'm intrigued, and i already have a large collection of bolt action Germans i haven't used in a while. I'll have to see if i can persuade someone to join me for a skirmish.
Baphomet - do it....its a very fun system
One nail biter of a game. Lots of fun and funny moments.

That was Amazing! I like the game very much. Thank you!
Best game of CoC that I've seen so far, thank you Gents - I understand the rules much better now :)
Excellent game! A Lets Play of Charlie don't Surf would be awesome. Wargamming 'Nam is always over looked.
Please do another one!!!
love the ruleset

Great video. Out of interest was a MG casualty not removed at 31:46, or did I miss something?
looks like a terrific system. Going to drop cash on it.
That's a really interesting system. Thanks!
Amazing rules set.
guy on the right is luckiest man ever with dice
At 30:42 he had a 6 and another dice hit it and converted in a two, that's bad luck.
Dang! You fellas have a buttload of terrain!
Any one know where the ruined brick house is from. looks great.
thanks for super play through . wanrt to get the models out and try COC again !
I AM HOOKED DONT STOP ....BLACK POWDER ANYTHING HISTORY THIS IS GREAT..
Late to the party, but like to say, Richard is a really sympathetic guy and Jeff Bezos wasn't as evil as I thought
Très belle table de jeu!
Where do you get the minis for this?
very entertaining! thank you!
Where are the miniatures and battlefield accessories from?

Always an excellent game when using Chain of Command game syste. Long time player. Crazy question, who makes the cool looking bridge?
Pegasus, willing to bet its the 4grounds or Sarissa aka Bolt Action boxed set. I believe its available separate as well.
Ah ha! You're right...that's a pretty expensive kit. Was looking over at Warlords site - out of stock. Don't think I really want all the extra stuff...just the bridge. From what you can see in the video, it looks really nice. Thank you.
Great video and decent looking game
Any chance of ever getting Dave back on?
Cabbage patch terrain gives you +1
Just bought the rules for this and I ain't been shot mum!
That looks like a awesome game.
I see Pegasus Bridge in the background...I'm building it in 15mm scale
Ahaha this fella on the left is great.
This game looks nice!
Im interested
Does anyone know which line of miniatures they're using for this game? Really interested in CoC!

I'm loving these TFL lets plays. But were they allowed on the proviso that rich would get spanked by Justin in every game?He should check his dice....
Loved it!!
Great game!
When the tank fired on the 2 pdr and you roll for cover what happens if the gun is in cover AND has a gun shield? Thanks.
The gun shield is de facto incorporated into the artillery piece's "defensive dice". So only the cover bonus would apply (and not the gun shield too).
Most lucky dice EVER! :D
YES!
Thank you for this video!
Hey Rich,
Should have ended the turn and take his JoP. I think you were within 4"
Dodgy dice.... Dodgy Justin....
Where can you get models for this game ?
Auricomus Dominus Any 28mm ww2 range will work. Check out Warlord Games, Crusader Miniatures and Artizan Designs to name a few.
Where is the dice tower in this video from?
I'd like to know too. It's a really nice compact design.
As do i!
After searching I'm confident it's from Black Thumb Creations.
You are a star sir. That looks like the one. Thanks!
Poor Rich.
Lovely!
Neil from the Young Ones all grown up?
Top notch
Got me to buy it all the way from CA! Fantastic system and great video!
Sticking to regular Bolt Action. This feels like 40K with 100 rules going on
Great terrain, like the scenario, well presented. Don't like the rule set though. Seems fairly restrictive and this patrol marker stuff don't make sense. Who would lock their units down in an open field with no cover ? Sorry guys I just don't get it.
