Just came back from the game. Amazing atmosphere.
Proof small stadiums = better atmosphere. Just need the SA teams to move some of their home matches to these types of grounds.

A good kicker is very important I'm knock out games. Masuku emphasized what Pollard did in the RWC final stages. Masuku is not at Pollard's level yet, today he won it for the Sharks 😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉
We South African rugby fans doubted the move to Europe at first, what I have learned is that there is plenty to play for up North, the Sharks have had a bad season in the URC but this competition has kept them going and hungry which wasn't the case in Super Rugby if they were in the same position.

As if Kremer didn't get away with what should have been a yellow in the first half, they also missed the forward pass prior to the Fassi incident, so even that yellow should not have happened. It's easy to see fault when it happens against the team you support but its really tough to admit that the "lucky" calls went both ways. Sharks fell off in the last 20 mins of the first half and Clermont did the same in the last 20 of the 2nd half, could have gone either way.

@@NickSterson if you are talking of Kremer's attempt watch it again. He begins to jump and finally bending on his knees he is receiving the Sharks player on his back. Kremer does not really catches him in the air Difficult call to judge. You may say it has been compensated in a way by the 2 tries Pearce has refused to Clermont in the 2nd half. We also may say that Pearce could have been as watchful on Sharks offsides at the end of the 2nd half as he had been on Clermont's oned on the 1st. At the end Clermont will have some regrets missing the victory against half of the Springboks team for only 2 points, the ones their kicker missed when Sharks kicker had a brilliant 100% success.
So if i understand well, Pearce is giving a yellow card for cynical obstruction as a last defender in the 22... but refused to give a logic penalty try to Clermont ? 😂😂😂 Some shit never change with referees.
Anyway, congratulations to the Sharks to play far from their home in this absurd competition. Hope Clermont will save their skin in top14.
It was not cynical at all. Kremer should have had a card for his shoulder taking out a player in the air.
Not cynical at all, he had nowhere else to go, he was heading in that direction at full tilt and there was no way he could stop so he did the smart thing and braced for impact. There was a sketchy, possibly forward pass in the lead up to that anyway, so it should never have gotten that far.

They aren’t, you can’t really see but the sides going down the length of the pitch are pretty much full.
If South African teams were allowed an actual home game it may have made a difference. Sharks have had a terrible URC season but still manage to average 10k attendance on average per game at home, knowing this was a semi, they could have easily doubled or tripled that if they were allowed to play in Durban.
I thought that was a decent crowd for a "home" Sharks match! Poor attendance by the Clermont fans...

Etzebeth was incredible. At half-time it was Yato for Man Of The Match, but Etzebeth was in a different class to anyone else on the field in the second half. Just a privilege to be there to see it.
This is a shocking level of refereeing again. I mean it's obviously not just incompetence, it's also pure viciousness.
When you have a yellow card offense by the last guy standing before the try line, you should be in auto-pilot mode, moving right in the middle of the sticks to award a penalty try, but nope. Rugby refs can let their bias against some teams or nations go freely, and they will never, ever be held accountable for it.

I think it's the french that should be going, honestly. That would be a nasty liver shot to english, irish and saffas' rugby finances. One that they would take a lot of time to recover from.
