Fellow Swiftiess, this is SERIOUS. Is it just me, or does this song certainly have a connection to the novel 'The Girl on the Train' by Paula Hawkins? Now, I’ve read this book back in my 12-year-old days. And I could still remember how the story went. We’ve got this character “Rachel”, an alcoholic who is still deeply in love with her ex-husband, Tom, despite their divorce. She obsessively watches Tom and his new wife, Anna, from the train as it passes their house, later would walk past and go into their backyard as it’s only a few houses apart. The fact that her husband now has a new family, and to witness it through all that; she gets very sad that occasionally takes drugs, and encircles herself with beers. But guess what? Rachel still loves her ex-husband, even though they're not married anymore, and in truth that he pathetically cheated on her. when Rachel sees Tom with his new wife, she gets really, really mad. Like, so mad that she wants to do something naughty, like in this song as well to her cheating husband while having flashbacks. (Every single lyric from this song is just giving off from the very start). There is even this part in the book where Tom would drive Rachel to work when the train takes too much time to come about. It goes on for like half-month. And during those times, as Rachel sat next to Tom in the car, she felt funny inside, like a puzzle with missing pieces. Being with Tom made her remember things from before, like watching a movie in her head. His voice sounded like a song she used to know, and his smell was like a cozy blanket. But it also made her feel sad, like when a favorite toy gets lost. She didn't know what to do with all these feelings, but she now covertly has Tom by her side, she touched him and acts flirty showing her surviving affection. In accordance to this song, the persona has a fortnight to hold onto them physically, but fairly for a short amount of time. Like in the book, he was the reason for most of her sadness, and how Rachel found herself in ruined because she loves him.

Fellow Swiftiess, this is SERIOUS. Is it just me, or does this song certainly have a connection to the novel 'The Girl on the Train' by Paula Hawkins? Now, I’ve read this book back in my 12-year-old days. And I could still remember how the story went. We’ve got this character “Rachel”, an alcoholic who is still deeply in love with her ex-husband, Tom, despite their divorce. She obsessively watches Tom and his new wife, Anna, from the train as it passes their house, later would walk past and go into their backyard as it’s only a few houses apart. The fact that her husband now has a new family, and to witness it through all that; she gets very sad that occasionally takes drugs, and encircles herself with beers. But guess what? Rachel still loves her ex-husband, even though they're not married anymore, and in truth that he pathetically cheated on her. when Rachel sees Tom with his new wife, she gets really, really mad. Like, so mad that she wants to do something naughty, like in this song as well to her cheating husband while having flashbacks. (Every single lyric from this song is just giving off from the very start). There is even this part in the book where Tom would drive Rachel to work when the train takes too much time to come about. It goes on for like half-month. And during those times, as Rachel sat next to Tom in the car, she felt funny inside, like a puzzle with missing pieces. Being with Tom made her remember things from before, like watching a movie in her head. His voice sounded like a song she used to know, and his smell was like a cozy blanket. But it also made her feel sad, like when a favorite toy gets lost. She didn't know what to do with all these feelings, but she now covertly has Tom by her side, she touched him and acts flirty showing her surviving affection. In accordance to this song, the persona has a fortnight to hold onto them physically, but fairly for a short amount of time. Like in the book, he was the reason for most of her sadness, and how Rachel found herself in ruined because she loves him.

I will say, it feels like it’s lyrically polished, more stream of consciousness, using her lyrics as a means of speaking through her pain without attempting to make it sound extra complicated or serious. The simplicity in her lyricism throughout the album is refreshing, as though she wrote this album for herself, for her healing, and we are just watching
