In October 2013, the annual flight demonstration by the Swiss Air Force was to take place at the Axalp-Ebenfluh Air Force firing range above Brienz. Two Gripen C from the Swedish Air Force had been invited by the Swiss Air Force to participate in this spectacular event.
The Axalp Air Force Live Fire Event was the perfect opportunity to experience the capabilities and operational options of aircrafts flying in an Alpine environment. - Наука та технологія

@@Karl-Benny Desert Storm one F-16 shot down 2 mig-23. Kosovo conflict F16 shot a down a Mig 29, F-16 shot down Su-25 crossing the border, I could tell of actions of F-14 and F-15 , but I'll run out of space.

Je suis pas Français, mais en m'y connaissant un peu an aviation je peux t'assurer que le rafale est supérieur au Gripen. En terme d'avionique, de charge d'armement transportable, de vitesse de super-croisière, de fusion de donnée etc.. En suisse lors des essais en vue d'acheter une nouvel avion de chasse pour l'armée le rafale a été mieux noté que le le Gripen E/F (version que le Brésil a acheté). Si le Brésil à acheté le Gripen c'est aussi parce que celui-ci est moins cher que le rafale.

tbh Australia have a 'HUGE' sky area so they need twin engines aircraft.
N Tie Twin Engine doesnt mean longer range. Gripens ferry range is 4000km while the super hornet's ferry range is 3330km.

edit: i am kinda dissapointed that the gripen is out of the evaluation for a new fighter jet for switzerland, you know switzerland had a chance to buy the viggen but instead bought the Mirage III... dont understand me wrong i really like the Mirage III and with the swiss upgrade with Canards makes it the Mirage III S, now i think the viggen would have been perfect for switzerland cuz it has STOL and switzerland doesnt have the longest landingstrips. And also they could have replaced the Hawker Hunter with the Viggen cuz the Viggen has air to ground capabilities. And now switzerland has also fucked it up with the Gripen... i mean we had another chance for the Gripen in 2014. Well oh well i am not in the swiss government, but i still love the swiss air force
Edit: Lol get fucked, F-35 is king, sure Gripen E is good and all. But nothing can beat the F-35

What is the gun used for? what are the targets in a real war situtation? Can it be used in the air vs air combat aswell?
Yeah its a multi-roll fighter jet, what its not intended for is bombing.
Yes it's intended for bombs as well.
The gun is used for close in dog fighting, or as a last resort option to strafe ground targets.

The video was made in switzerland but on at the endcard there wasn't switzerland as a gripen user ? Why?
And the Swiss people were high on bad speed when they voted against purchasing the Gripen. Government said Yes, people voted No. Why the hell would you let people with no clue about what the deal means be allowed to vote >.
***** Even if it might have negative aspects in some circumstances... it is obvious that spending huge amounts of money is a national matter. And it's also obvious that in many other circumstances letting the people vote is much better than having a government that decides it all.
Well this is called Democracy and I can assure you we study the available information very well before we vote and make an informed decision. At the end the fighter was not as advanced in development (4 years ago) when we had to decide on spending the money. There were more pressing matters that had higher priority then.

I read that Switzerland was suppose to replace the F-5E/F with the Gripen but opted to just replace the F-5s with drones instead.
