    As a dance instructor for young kids, Blue Ivy did great for a 5 yr old. She knew the choreography, had great rhythym, great energy & showmanship for a 5 yr old.
    She's 5. She doesn't know her parents are mega stars. She just knows that they, sing, dance & rap. Give the child a break.

      QueenOnTheMove Podcast you are 100% percent correct . He was upset he has a problem with this little black child getting attention front and center with very rich parents. They are so use to being the only ones with money, hones property Etc. They hate so much when we come up . Even children at a ballet recital. Children even children they hate😡

      The rest of it was neither here nor there, I didn't see malicious to me. People always talk about the kid that's out of time, or moving in the other direction and everyone finds it to be cute. Plus she's a mini celeb in her own right.
      Ballet is expensive and there's etiquette that should be followed, so I understand the parents not being happy about the hair. If this was a competition that alone would lose them points. Or she would not be allowed to compete like that. Lot's of black kids do dance and follow the rules.

      Why does a 5 year old need extensions anyway???
      She's 5.......
      that's like saying a 5 year old NEEDS make-up.

    • @siyasanga_makie
      @siyasanga_makie 7 років тому +152

      Toni S, natural hair is hard to maintain, its not like straight silky hair that you can just tie up and go... its not the same as make up, she's wearing a protective style! i used to wear cornrows with extensions same age as her simply for maintaining my hair. you won't understand natural hair unless you have to deal with it daily by yourself..its definitely not the same thing as make up.. do you have experience dealing with a 5 year olds natural hair? its a mission..

    • @factnofiction1142
      @factnofiction1142 7 років тому +40

      I agree with Toni S, what does a 5 year old have extensions. Just because she has natural hair doesn't mean she has to wear fake hair. Her ''own'' natural hair can be braided, as well as put in a bun.
      As black women we need to stop finding excuses on wearing other people hair when we can get our own hair styled even at her age.

    • @siyasanga_makie
      @siyasanga_makie 7 років тому +87

      factNo fiction, true, but i still disagree, its no ones business how a person wears their hair. if Bey or any parent wants to use extensions to cornrow their daughters hair its their business. who knows, perhaps blue wanted to match her mom when she had cornrows on whats wrong with that ? if any black woman wants to use extensions for protective styling its her business and has her own reasons for it. we need to learn to leave people alone to make their own choices and stop assuming what their reasons are or judging them for it, its their hair. its none of our business..

    The entire reporting was negative towards Blue . The reporters never once commented on how she had more energy, life, rhythm, presence, alertness, and better moves than the others. All the other girls were much slower than Blue.

    • @Fifth.Amendment
      @Fifth.Amendment 7 років тому +19

      Hathormaat47 if all the other girls were much slower, that means Blu was the one off rhythm. Anyhow, it was all a mess. but they're non-skilled so it is expected. In time with much more practice they'll all get better.

    • @LadyASolveg
      @LadyASolveg 6 років тому +3

      That's not what I heard. They were just joking about it and wondered if blue was ahead or the other kids were off. Which is completely legitimate since the other kids seem to be pretty much moving with each other. They are only 5 and you can tell most are relying on the off stage instructor , but Blu isn't doing that as much, because she may have more confidence in her memory of the steps. It's common for kids to rush ahead when they are confident. Nothing wrong with that, it's just fun.

      I am black and if I was one of the children parents, I would have felt some type of way too. One, why is this child placed directly in the middle (only the leads are in the middle) which is clear they did this on purpose. Two, it was disrespectful for them to allow her to be all over the place and not in uniform (that which I am speaking of is her hair). Imagine if this was one of your daughters (if you had one) that was up there dancing and one child was stealing the spotlight. I think if Jay Z and Beyonce want their daughter to experience a life of normancy, they should have taught etiquette and explain to her to follow the dance routine. Sorry but it was very rude and and disrespectful for them to have her in her own lane. Not cool at all! They all did great though, even Blue Ivy.

    • @Summer_Wonder
      @Summer_Wonder 7 років тому +10

      Rosa Hodge well I'm black and danced ballet from 4-7. The mothers were allowed to style our hair however they saw fit. I guess it's different when the team/organization is mostly black and very diverse. They made it clear that we didn't have to adhere to European standards of ballet 'uniform' since it shouldn't have an affect on our performance. Blue reminded me of myself and my friends (of all races) growing up in ballet breaking down stereotypes and dumb standards. 👯

Maybe this was rehearsal but if this was the actual recital then blu ivy braids should have been put in a bun. would it be ok if she had on a different color outfit no it would be too distracting.

    This is adorable. Not because Blue Ivy is there, but because they are precious 5 year old girls. With that being said, if she was instructed to put her hair up, she should have. Not doing so looks like she is more important and doesn't have to respect what others ask of her. My daughter is in ballet and we take it very seriously, but at the same time, I'm going to only be concerned about my own child. I watched it again, and even though the performance itself is not ballet per se, while everybody is watching the Carter's kid, 🐏 there is another little black child in the lineup, two girl to the right of BI, who has perfect time, her form is impeccable for a five year old, her positioning is great and she has a mad crazy Ballet turnout! Oh but, she doesn't count. She's not the Carter's kid. Mad love for the parents of the other black child. She's the best performer in the lineup! ❤️

    In my opinion little Ms Blue Ivy looks awesome! I see stardom in this little girl. She seems to be having a lot of fun and she also seems to have more movement than the other girls. I enjoyed the small clip and would really like to see the entire performance. It's actually refreshing to know this little girl comes from a line if talented people however they seem to be allowing Blue to form her very own unique self regardless of the fact that her parents are super stars!!! Go Little Ms. Blue...do you girl!

    I think the other parents were upset because Blue Ivy having her hair down gives off the impression that she can go against tradition and ballet etiquette just because she is a celebrity's child, which would make any other parent feel upset like "well why can't my child have her hairstyle certain way then too?"

She didn't get the chance to be here and be celebrated. As a former teacher of twenty years, I recognize love and happiness when I see it. I don't know why people are trying to already compare her to you or other greats. She is a child, and she's happy. That's all I see. That's all that matters. God bless you all.

    It is true about having a bun in the little girls hair. They tell you that before the recital. As a parent I would be a little upset as well.. I know this b/c my daughter took ballet. Also, I had a gold bracelet on her & the dance instructor ask that I take it off as all the girls needed to look the same. And out of respect for others, I took the bracelet off.

    The reason she stands out IS because of her hair.! Not only cause its down but its long and dark!which is standing out so much because of the light costumes an background.so all eyes are automatically drawn..I would say Bey did that on purpose to make her stand out BUT then thought either up or down they gona say she stands out because of her mom,DAMM so now I dnt know if it was intentional..

    since day 1 ppl have been criticizing Blue Ivy!... And that wrong they need to let her be the pretty little girl that she is. Blue Ivy is very beautiful and from my perspective she was in the middle because she is the tallest 5yr old which is still beautiful. Let Jay-Z and Beyonce live in their glory and Enjoy Blue Ivy being herself. Why are we criticizing there are so many things wrong with that picture. There are bigger things to worry about than something that should be a happy occasion and if your not gonna criticize little Becky to the right or left of Blue Ivy than don't criticize her

    Parents are going to be unhappy about a 5 year old girl having braids in ballet? ! Since it suppose to be "a sophisticated nice place to do ballet", why is the girl who's next to Blue Ivy is wearing a-I don't know-A PONYTAIL!?!??!! Like seriously, people!
    by the way, I'm pretty sure the parents are just hating because nobody made a comment about their little girls.

      tinky3ful no one said anything about braids. They said she should follow the same dress code as the other girls. What is she above the rules? If they're all instructed to have their hair up as a part of the uniform I can't see why she's an exception.

    As far as Blue Ivy is concerned, she's just doing what most dancing 5- year olds do, and that's being a child. The only fault that I can find is a bunch of grown-ups picking on a child because of who her parents are! This just shows how narrow- minded people can be. To go in on a child is just plain ridiculous and the jealousy and hate here are real!

      It’s true. I had my girls in ballet for years. It’s expensive and people do take it really seriously. To include the hair in an updo. It should’ve been up. But now, they’re only 5 year olds. They have plenty of time to learn and display ballet etiquette as they get older and trust me if she really does like ballet later on she won’t want to stand out for those type of reasons no matter who her parents are.
