  • It was a long and tough week in Georgia at the first PDGA Major of the year. My new MVP team manager Andrew Johnson came out to join me and Jeff for a round at the amazing IDGC property. The Steady Ed Headrick course is one of the three courses on this property. W.R. Jackson is the championship course that I played all of last week, so it was time to switch it up. It was a fun time!

I got to meet you after your third round, and I have to say, although it was obviously not the day you wanted out on the course, you were still very delighted to meet all the fans and it was a genuine pleasure getting to speak with you briefly. Sometimes it is better to meet your heroes. Thanks for all you do for the sport!

@@lawrenceradford4677 It was painful to see Simon so disappointed with the round. I was glad to get to meet him and get a signature, just really unfortunate with the circumstances being a disappointing round a few minutes beforehand. I can't hold it against him, or several of the other players I met; none of them really seemed to feel they were playing their best.

Simon, I want to thank you. I started playing disc golf last September 2022 when I was 54. I am now 55, and I just had my best day playing the game. Let me explain. Thank you for being so inspirational in your videos. You are so personable and supportive of everyone you play with. Second, thank you for showing me that even pros can have bad throws. (Sorry for bringing it up.) It kept me going when I was learning to gain control and distance, as well as teaching me to have fun no matter what. And third, thank you for promoting your new sponsor's discs, MVP. Because of you I bought a Glitch in April 2023, and most importantly, I made my first ACE with it this afternoon, May 23, 2023. It was arrow straight, right into the center of the chains and *plop* into the basket. Needless to say, the rest of the round was a blur. So thank you for being the positive influence on the game that you are. Dave N.

As a human being you don't have any control over the emotions which pop into your head, or when. However, two seconds after an unwanted or unhelpful emotion springs into your mind, as a human being you get to decide what to do with that emotion. You can indulge it, or you can decide that it is of no use to you, and simply let it go.
Jessica Weese in an interview once, made a wonderful statement after having some absolute horror holes without ever getting visibly upset, and then she played 5 birdies in a row as I recall. When asked about it, she said, "I have a Two-Step Rule for getting over bad play and bad luck."
When asked what the two steps were, she said, "I take two steps and I'm over it."
That always struck a chord with me, and I greatly admire her for that.

A really fun vlog. Jeff and Andrew can disc! You know Jeff a good caddy because he’s honest. Andrew seems like a good guy to work with.
I like the ace run course idea, and also like the other idea you recently brought up that one of the majors should be a short technical woods course like they used to play on.
I believe that you made the comment recently that “putting is too easy”. I don’t know if you were being facetious or not, but I don’t agree that’s true when it’s windy 😏. Paul McBeth has also made similar comments and thinks the basket should be narrower.
I imagine someone has thought about this already but, instead of making the basket smaller, I think the criteria for what is par should be different. Why do we allow for two putts inside the circles? We are not rolling small balls with mallets on green grass where the first one is rarely made from distance. In Disc Golf, approaching every basket is different, but only with a difficult approach should two strokes be allowed for putting, like if the approach needs to be done with a driver, the basket is elevated, blocked by many trees, or is blind. Some of the results for this change in what determines par would be less strokes overall under par for a round, par 2 holes, and the return of 120’ ace run holes!
