I was just there in September and it's a super cute shop. The staff is very friendly also. They have beautiful yarn and I bought some Donegal yarn. I would love to go back.
Hello Mark, What a lovely episode with Lisa. This is Knit has been my LYS for 18 years. It is luxury at its best. I was one of the "testers" for the weaving loom. I hope you enjoy the art of weaving with Donegal Aran Tweed. I hope you'll visit visit Dublin again, drop my a message when you do. Diane
I wish I could knit I’ve tried but never could stick with it ….i do like to weave though so I will definitely check out this shop .. I’m not to far away in the garden of Ireland Wicklow 👍 I loved your video thanks for sharing 😁
Commenting from Ireland. This is Knit is a wonderful shop, the quality of the yarns is amazing and the shop supports local hand dyers. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for sharing this, Lisa’s shop looks wonderful, I live in the west of Ireland and have struggled to find a good wool shop so ended up buying sheep and learning to spin but I definitely will take a trip now to Lisa’s shop. The variety and colours looked amazing, I’m not an internet shopper as like to see and touch fibre and also get advise from a friendly face so her shop looks perfect. Thank you
LOL - I watched that while knitting with YARN I bought from This is Knit Yesterday (just before the shop closed) . I was literally the last person out of the shop as I him and hawed. I need a project for On the Road in Tuscany next week - so I have decided to knit a cable scarf to improve my cable skills.
Awww. This is so sweet. I do live that knitting is a thing that brings desperate people together. I especially love that it equalizes in a really interesting way. Someone who is 60 isn’t necessarily better than someone who is 25. And someone who’s knit for 20 years might have never done something and can learn it from someone who’s knit for a year.
I live in Dublin and I love This is Knit! It's great and they also have a partnership with the University's Knitting society so students get a discount. As a student on a budget, I absolutely love how they have really affordable high quality options, there is a chunky wool/acrylic blend range that is so soft AND warm AND affordable, and it really lets me crochet and make really high quality stuff without breaking the bank. And the staff are so lovely and make everyone feel welcome!
LOVE This is Knit. I discovered them just as I was starting my knitting journey and they helped me pick my first pattern and buy my first skeins. They are always so helpful and friendly, and they sell so many lovely yarns.
I love This Is Knit! I’ve never been to Ireland, but found them through their Instagram reels. I participated in their “My First Sweater” follow-along which was wonderful. I’m glad you got to visit their shop, and thanks for making a video.
I loved your interview with Lisa. This is my LYS. It’s a beautiful shop, with a fabulous yarn collection. Everyone in the This is Knit team is so helpful and knowledgeable. Already planning my next visit to the shop !!!
I go to Ireland every summer and have never stayed in Dublin, but next year I am going to make it a point to spend a night or two and visit This is Knit, it looks so lovely. Thanks for this.
I'm from Michigan. "Up North" and living in Ireland the past 25 years. This is Knit is my LYS, and I love the shop. The staff are my friends now. I sometimes order online, and the customer service is beyond expectations. I really enjoyed your video and following you faithfully now😊
I love this shop! I discovered them on Instagram when they started a group, I knit 7. I have ordered their beautiful Townhouse yarn. The package came quickly to Oklahoma. Their videos on Instagram are always a great treat. Glad you visited them. I also shop at ATTY when I visit my kids in Shaker.
I visited Dublin, (Canadian) for my first time this fall. I also visited This is Knit, and was very impressed not only by their gorgeous shop, but the staff were all so down to earth, helpful, and knowledgeable. Super nice folks, and an absolute delight to shop the variety of product that they have. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Loved your interview with Lisa.
What a beautiful shop and location and story behind the shop! If I ever make it to Dublin, I will definitely spend some time there! Thank you for sharing. Ok: Gus and Scout … cat cuteness overload. ❤
Hi Mark! I’m across the state from you in Toledo, and I just ordered from This Is Knit last month. I loved their choices and the turnaround was especially fast! Also, 1000 thank you’s for not following the same old format of -here’s my WIP ( in long detail), here’s what I’ve finished etc. Your vlog is truly my favorite, out of the hundreds of knitting vlogs out there!
The Irish Tweed DIY looks fun. The other day I saw a blanket made from squares like that made using a 'Zoom Loom' and I've been dreaming about making one since.
Looks like such a sweet shop! I always like going to a LYS - sometimes to my family’s chagrin - and it’s not always you find one so thoughtfully curated.
I've seen some of Lisa's shorts here on UA-cam and on Instagram, so it was really nice to see a bit more of here yarn shop 😊 I'll go and give her a follow
thank you so much for bringing me to this gorgeous yarn shop with you. i'd always intended to visit ireland but it's not possible, and this was a special treat for me. you do such a good job your podcasts are a pleasure to watch. best wishes for you and your hubby for good health and a happy future
The last time I was in Dublin in 2004 this shop didn't exist yet. If, however, I'm ever back there, this shop will be the first place I go to! And Mark, I love spending time with you on your videos! 😉
Hi Mark, it sounds like you had a great time here in Ireland! TIK is my LYS; have been going there for years and can only sing praises for the team. They are fantastic! Also have the weaving kit you got and love it. User-friendly, portable and the results are good. Definitely a great intro to weaving. Enjoy!
Great to see the tour of This Is Knits. I have a lovely Zoom knitting friend in Dublin and I wonder if she has ever been to this shop. Best wishes for October and fall.
I love Dublin, was there many years ago, long before I was a knitter. Love the city and the people. I loved the pretty little row counter. I’m researching yarn shops in Yorkshire as I’m going there next month. I have a separate budget for yarn shopping while I’m away.
I really enjoy the way that you approach yarn shop presentations, Mark. It's never just about consuming items. You parse out that mission statement! This was a lovely visit, as were the other shop visits you have shared. I found myself thinking, if I had a yarn shop what would set it apart ? What is it I really love about the craft? What sort of environment would I want to cultivate? How about you? What kind of shop do you think you would develop if you had the chance?
Thank you so much for sharing with us. I am leaving for the UK in a little over 2 weeks and am definitely going to visit some of the shops you have suggested. I told my DIL that while in Edinburgh I want to go to the Islander and make my own bag and she has decided to join as well. I will be in the UK for 3 weeks and look forward to buying notions like bags, buttons, markers, etc and maybe just a little yarn but I have so much in my stash I feel guilty buying more. I will be using the Redesigned bag number 10 that I bought after one of your previous videos to carry my current project the Bere sweater by Stolen Stitches in Cork. I also bought a number 32 that may or may not come on the trip. Again thank you Mark for all of your wonderful videos.
My husband and I just finished a three-month stay in Dublin. While I was there I knitted children's hats for a pediatric hospital and hats and scarves for the homeless. This Is Knit was my go-to yarn store. Everyone there was so nice and so helpful. I discovered Uneek fingering and had a blast designing modular hats with it.
Hi Mark hope you're well. I'm Irish and live about an hour and a half from Dublin. I follow TIK on their socials and have ordered online from their webpage but have yet to visit the shop. Thanks for the great video. Im planning to visit the shop shortly
Hello Mark-Yvonne Detroit in Detroit, Michigan. I’m going 2 IRELAND 🇮🇪 this coming Saturday… 🤯😆 I’m ssso excited. This is Knit 🧶 is on R list of stores 2 visit. I just saw this on my feed-thank you 4 taking us along. 🧶🇮🇪 🐑 🧶🎊🎊
Love your video. Reminds me of a visit toBelfast in 1963, I was a new knitter and visited a huge yarn store in downtown, had yarns up to the ceiling, and, large notebooks filled with patterns. Seemed like heaven. Also where I got the urge to make Aran sweaters. Wonder if there is much interest in these at TIK these days.
Thanks Mark this is my LYS that I have just discovered as I embark on a new hobby. They have a range of cotton yarn and I’m getting my knit on my crocheting dishcloths for everyone I know. I feel this is the beginning of an epic journey. Thanks for making me realize that my LYS is so special. ❤
I love this is knit and there was another shop there that’s sadly is no longer there, it was called The Constant Knitter. My husband and I will be in Dublin in November this year for a concert so I will visit This is Knit again so thank you for inform us about that ONLy Irish spun yarn because now I will buy it if it’s still there.
Thank you for sharing your travels and your projects. I recently returned from Ireland and was so disappointed not to find any yarn shops. I was on a tour so I could not meander much on my own. I had planned on bringing home lots of local yarn until I learned that sheep aren't bred for wool there. I managed to find some Donegal Tweed on my last day in the Blarney Woolen Mill, which mostly had machine made garments for sale. I knit myself a beautiful all over cable sweater and I love it!
Absolutely! I have a video detailing my process making it here on the channel ☺️ This is the pattern from Ravelry (I made mine out of sock yarn scraps instead of worsted weight yarn - so she's smaller than the recommended size). www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/emotional-support-chicken
What an inviting and friendly yarn shop! I am planning on visiting their online store next. Thanks again for all that you do; it's so much fun and very inspiring/ enabling.

Martine
I'm based in Dublin, walked into the TIK shop last year and said 'Id like to learn to knit.' 7 projects later and Im still coming back. They are so kind and helpful! Thanks for highlighting them!
Yeh, it is my favourite yarn shop in Dublin. I absolutely love their yarns for quality and colours. I just wish they work every day 😀
Ditto!

Great episode Mark. You are a wonderful interviewer. I was so inspired I just ordered yarn from Lisa’s shop for a Gallant sweater.
Thank you for those kind words! What color did you choose for your sweater? ☺️
I’m not as brave as Lisa’s mom - I picked Smoke & Mirrors.

You were lucky 👍 I just tried to order it too but it's already sold out 🤷🏼
Have so enjoyed your visits to yarn shops in the UK and Ireland.

The weaving kit caught my eye when you were in the store. Looking forward to seeing you play with that kit. 😊

What a lovely shop! Thanks for taking us along. Loved the neon sweater! Vibrant indeed!
I was in Dublin last month at This Is Knit. I picked up yarn for that lovely green cabled sweater shown in your video. Such a nice shop.
Thank you for sharing your travels and your projects. I recently returned from Ireland and was so disappointed not to find any yarn shops. I was on a tour so I could not meander much on my own. Great video! Only good vibes 😍❤
Thank you!
Love going along with you on these fiber arts journeys, thank you!
Hi Mark! I always look at the little chicken (?) behind you on the shelf .. can you tell a bit about it? 🐔 greetings from the netherlands!
Absolutely! I have a video detailing my process making it here on the channel ☺️
This is the pattern from Ravelry (I made mine out of sock yarn scraps instead of worsted weight yarn - so she's smaller than the recommended size).
www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/emotional-support-chicken
I think is an emotional support chicken, available on Ravelry and the designer has a UA-cam how to video.
What an inviting and friendly yarn shop! I am planning on visiting their online store next. Thanks again for all that you do; it's so much fun and very inspiring/ enabling.
I was excited to see this. I went to that shop when I visited Ireland last year. It was lovely 😊
Oh, I’m so thrilled I happened in your channel! Loved your video and nice energy ☺️
And loved this little visit to Dublin! Ireland is one of my fav places and am lucky enough to have been able to visit many times over the years.
I WISH I’d known of this shop last time I was there, but now I do and will def seek it out next trip.
Such a cute shop! Thanks for sharing!
I live in Dublin and my favorite shop is Springwools, in Walkinstown. Hundreds of yarns and cones and nice people.
There's something really special about fiber people - so many lovely folks enjoy all the crafts. You've got me thinking about a small loom. It's on my list of things to learn but the last thing I need are more projects. But oh, I'd love to try it. Currently; I just finished building a tool shed and now am making choices about the interior. Next up is a small cabinet I bought and want to hang but it's heavy and my goal for the things that will be in it are also heavy, so I'm researching french cleats. The next one is a bench outdoors that will fit into a niche outside the kitchen and I'll put shelves and doors on it for pots and soil and such. Then there are the above ground planters that must be prepared before I load them with soil. Also a Redd Barna sweater is waiting to be cast on. and so it goes. Books to read, podcasts to watch, floors to mop and so on. Who knew being 72 would leave me so busy? But there are charity projects as well.
Hello there Mark! Another great video. What I like best is visiting all the yarn shops along with you. Unfortunately I live in a city where there is no local yard shops so I am so envious of people who can just drive and experience the wonder of a local yarn shop. I live in Jacksonville Florida, but my parents live in Dallas and there is a wonderful local yarn shop that I look forward to going whenever I visit so that’s nice but it’s still not as nice as having one in your town. So anyways, keep sharing those shops. Have a great day Mark see you next time.
Gantry yarns is a great shop in Ireland too 🎉
Bantry yarns … Bantry yarns …apologies …
Wow, what a lovely shop (and interesting architecture too), I definitely want to visit, and shop :) Thank you for that experience!
What an awesome trip. That yarn is delicious. Love the petrol blue. Excited to see what you make with it.
Just one more reason for spending 1-2 weeks of educational leave in Dublin next year!
Nice video. UnI was not knitting at the time I was in the UK and Ireland. I will have to live vicariously through you. Btw, I love your kitty. I have an orange tabby kitten. He is quite a character. I adopted him and his mom in May of this year.
Once again, thanks for the vicarious travel. I hope to someday travel to the British Isles and Ireland, but in the meantime, I'm thankful you shared your trip.
Beautiful kitty who looks so good next to your halibut sweater!
Love traveling with you.
I wish I had known about this store!! We were just in Dublin and the UK in September!!! This place was not far from our hotel. AHHHHH!!!
The best yarn store. I was one of a the tons of tourists in July and love the wool I bought.
I’m heading to Ireland in a week so this was perfect timing! Loved your interview and tour of This is Knit.
What a beautiful shop. Thank you for the tour.
I order from you guys online all the time. I must come to visit the next time I am in Dublin.
My favourite yarn shop.
Glad you are both on the mend 😊 I'm planning to do the CAL... need to get my other jobs finished first. I like the idea of a day off on the 16th!❤
I’ve been to Dublin but didn’t see the knit shop!! Thanks so much as always!! ❤
What a gorgeous shop! Now I have to go to Dublin and visit the shop 😂
I’m going on the Indie Untangled “Weaving A Yarn,” tour next June and we will be spending the first three days in Dublin. I am DEFINITELY going to check out this shop if it isn’t on the itinerary, but I’ll bet that it is!
I love TIK! They are brilliant.
Weaving is a gateway lmao!!!! Take a look at Kiss Looms out of Indiana or Illinois. I forget but the looms are hand crafted and stellar for working with!!!
Another great video! I want to go back to Dublin and visit this yarn shop so much!
Omg you went to Dublin 😮 this is my fav store

Thanks for sharing your visit to what seems lika a wonderful store! I've vivited Ireland and Dublin a couple of times (I live in Sweden) but this store didn't exist then.

Will you be going to the Knit & Stitch Show here in London At the Alexandra Palace. Starts 10th October to the 13th.
I wish! We left London around mid-September.
Looks wonderful! I've only been to Dublin once and I obviously need to go again!

Maybe you could set up little branch in Cork too? I volunteer as the first employee and customer :D
