Hi Alan. I find these videos very useful for my revision. Thank you for putting these up! For a question that asks to you examine the issues about a concept, do you just introduce a point and just analyse it?
This particular type of question will be asking you about similarities or differences between the US and UK. You should write 3 paragraphs each focusing on ways the two countries are similar or different on that issue e.g. their constitution or have two-party dominance or whatever else it has asked.
Hi Alan, your videos have actually been a god send for me, with the examples you gave are they the actual size you need to get full marks or are they just an extract of a larger paragraph? Also, what would the timing be like for the 12 mark questions would it be 15~ minutes?
Those paragraphs should be about right, but as is always the case a bit more detail/ explanation wouldn't hurt. Yes about 15 mins (hence I made the paragraphs reasonably short
@@AlanHistoryNerd It looks like you only met AO1 in your paragraphs (facts & examples). To meet AO2 you need analysis (showing significance, consequences, etc.). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm just going off of what I saw in this video: ua-cam.com/video/6LUfXvoG9dQ/v-deo.html
Hey Alan, thanks for your brilliant videos. Do we have to focus on similarities or we can focus the answer on differences? Or, is it OK to do a split between the two (e.g 2 paragraphs on similarities, 1 on differences)
Hi Alan, thank you for the video. My teacher has told us that we only need two paragraphs in a 12 marker, is this right because I always feel like I am running out of things to say with two points.
Hi Chris, I teach USA and really enjoy it, I've not taught global so I don't know it as well. USA is really interesting, if a bit scary at the moment. It depends on which grabs your interest the most.
Glad to help, in component 3 the stem is always 'Evaluate the view that...' You need to make sure your analysis is highly comparative- view/ alternative. Very similar to the 30 markers in component 1 and 2, ensuring you have point and counter point in each theme/ paragraph is key
Hi Blue Comedy, the aim is to continue adding videos even when school is up and running (I was actually teaching last week and have more teaching next week). The rate at which they are added will slow down but I intend to keep going until I have the spec covered. Thank you for your support.
thank you alan i don’t have a teacher this year and am replying on you for my a level!

It depends on the question it may ask for just similarities or just differences or both
this is sooo helpful thank youuuuu
Glad it was helpful!

Hello Alan, may I ask if I should choose government and politics of the USA or global politics for my component 3?

@@AlanHistoryNerd Ok thank you very much! Like your videos!
Hi Alan just wondering if you could tell me what paper the question about the similarities between the US and the UK constitutions was from thanks
Alan is the structure for the 30 Mark Essays in component 3 the same as in component 1 & 2, finding your videos extremely helpful :-)
