    Great points - thanks!
    I'd say a couple things from my personal preferences - 1) be aware testing speakers in a demo room is dangerous as it may be treated really well, so test them at home if possible!
    &
    2) Min 2 subs is definitely a requirement, however (obviously), 2 better subs are better than 2 lesser subs. I think if you can afford it, buy one better sub and buy the same sub 6 months later (for example). If you have 2 lesser subs and still want more output you are stuck and still have to upgrade! :P just how I did it and it worked out well!

      When I worked at an electronics store (anyone remember Ultimate Electronics?) I told people all the time to not settle, save for a few more months and it would be completely worth it. Start with a good receiver and stereo speakers, and complete it as you save, otherwise they would just be wasting their money later on. I had some people not even complete their system because they were blown away and happy enough with a quality stereo setup vs a cheap surround system.

    What a valuable video!
    But I have a little problem... Budget!
    What do you recommend once I have a extremely tight budget regarding U$1.900,00 to spend.
    Option number one :
    A brand new home theater in-a-box Onkyo Ht-s7800 or option number two :
    A second-hand marantz (middle 2000's) plus a brand new setup klipsch floorstanding speakers+center speaker+surround speakers+subwoofer?
    In your opinion, what is the best choice?
    I appreciate if you could replie me.

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  2 роки тому

      We would always recommend the separate speakers and AVR over a Home Theater in a Box system as you have a lot more versatility/upgradability with the separate gear. If you want to, it's really easy to upgrade the older Marantz receiver for something newer like the Denon AVR-S760H that we recently reviewed which would give you 4K resolution at 120Hz support or even 8K and 60Hz support. We choose option number two! Hope this helps! :)

      I am currently listing Separate Components but I do not know how to match amplifiers, pre-amp and power amps that are at least 16 channels, including subwoofer amplifiers, mono block-amps, speaker wattages and that 50 amp power supply that you need because having a voltage regulator with thousands of watts is not enough.
      Can I ask you a few questions.

      Thanks for watching & that is a great way to go, we just decided to stick to a more common scenario (for example, someone has $2K to spend right now - what's the best way to spend it? It's better, especially in a bigger room, to go with the two lesser subs than a single larger sub).

    best placement for a sub. place the sub in your main seating position. Then go about the room to find the best sound that you like. That is where you would place to sub (if possible of course). As for speakers... i would rather buy less (5.1 instead of 7.1) speakers that are of higher quality then a bunch of junky ones.

    It's a matter of taste, but I think having a busy theater visually is also a mistake. Pictures and toys all over the place seem more like a distraction than an addition. Imagine bumping into a shelf or display and knocking down 100 Funco Pop toys as your trying to make your way inside or out of the theater. Also, as time goes, it starts looking dated and gaudy. I say keep it clean, or at least have places where you can add and remove those displays easily.

    I am thinking of putting together a 5.2 system in my 12x15 room. I am considering Fluance 5.0 Signature Book shelfs and center and 2 SVS SB 1000 subs. Or 2 Emotiva 12" subs. I would love a recommendation for a receiver or amp! What are your thoughts on my rational? Thank you!

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I think this sounds like a very well balanced setup! For the amp, we have just reviewed both the Yamaha RX-V6A ua-cam.com/video/0WXa8ZXXBj8/v-deo.html and the Onkyo TX-NR595 ua-cam.com/video/VEbmYOroM9w/v-deo.html which are both fantastic AVRs for about $400 if you want to eventually go up to a 7.2ch or 5.2.2ch ATMOS setup in the future. We'll also be comparing these two receivers in our next video which should come out this weekend. Hope this helps!

    I have a BIC America F12 12-Inch 475-Watt Front Firing Powered Subwoofer which is off to the left of the great room and you can not really tell where the boom is coming from. I am considering though a second sub but I have no where to the right of the room except for the ceiling to put it. Question is, should I bother with a ceiling sub as well? I am pretty happy with the one sub at the moment. Would one sub in ceiling, one sub on floor work?

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! For this, you'd be best off coordinating with a professional if possible. Generally you want to try to use the same subwoofers all throughout your theater so the sound is good in all listening positions. If you can't tell where the bass is coming from and you don't have a problem with the output, one subwoofer should probably be enough for the foreseeable future. Hope this helps!

    Space and environment matters first. It dictates what you buy more so than not. Alot of mistakes is made between the two. Your budget figure you start with initially is always the wrong numbers once you begin to purchase and sample. I started off with a budget of 800 dollars and I ended up spending probably 4,500 dollars. I went from a box & 1 that was a 5.1 to a 5.1 with a pioneer receiver, to a 5.1.2. I had 2 towers a sub, 2 bookshelves and a 400 dollar center. I then purchased 2 more towers and my system was a 5.1.4. I purchased another sub woofer and purchased another center speaker. This time I purchased an SVS ultra center and an adcom 5 channel 7500 THX amplifier that rounded my system out perfectly to a 5.2.4 inside an apt
    A year & 1/2 later I bought a house. My new space is a 20 X 20 room. I use to live upstairs in an apt and now I'm in a single flat home with tile floors. This changed everything. The towers I purchased in my apt was pioneer elite towers. They sound very clear, accurate, flat and neutral. Being upstairs on carpet the towers had enough slam. Now being on ground floor on cement and tile it's a different story. My adjustments to the situation was adding 2 more towers for the surround backs and 2 more SVS SB 2000 subs along with another 5 channel amplifier. A sherbourn 5/1500a.
    My room sounds great but in the future I'm going to pair my ultra center with 2 ultra towers for my front stage. I started with a budget of 800 dollars living in an apt. About 4,500 dollars later this is what happened. If I knew I was going to purchase a house from the beginning. I would've purchased 2 big Towers and a big center from the beginning. Now my end game has changed. The reality of home theater is I think you will always swap and change your equipment along the way. What excites you today will definitely change in your future and no one can forsee the new products that has yet to reveal themselves. The technology changes as well. Home theater is a very expensive hobby.

    Hi. I'm from Brazil and I watch all your videos. It was through a video of you that I installed some bass shakers on my couch. I really like the way you make your videos and I'm rooting for your channel to grow, because you deserve it. Here in Brazil it is not so easy to have this hobby. Just as an example, after having seen your video on the Logitech Harmony controller, I decided to research to find out how much it costs. I was surprised to see that it is sold here for 2000 reais, which is two minimum wages in my country. An Nvidia Shield, which I bought recently, is the same price. I do not say with content of complaint, because this is the reality here and little can be done to change, but rather to reinforce the idea that it is possible to build a dream with effort and dedication. A big hug and congratulations for the channel.

      @@TwoGuyzTech Thanks, yes once I get started building the speakers I will document it on my web site and my new youtube channel. Don Keele assisted in the design of the CBT center speaker in my old theater and I will be in close communication with him again on the design of the new CBT arrays. Having constant directivity loudspeakers helps reduce room interaction and reduces the necessity for room treatment...although I will still use room treatment.
      It's going to be awhile, I'm hoping they will start setting up the forms for the slab this week. My builder is estimating it will be at a stage where I can do the theater pre-wire around mid December. I'll be posting some of that not just to show what I'm doing but more importantly to allow others to comment and make suggestions. Hopefully this makes sure I don't leave anything out!

      Thanks for watching! That is a tricky one. Just keeping them at ear level is probably your best bet - and you could also go with in-walls to set them a little further back - but sometimes you do have to work within the limitations of your room, and that's all good!

    Great video, thanks. Quick question, I would love to listen to speakers before I buy but there just does not seem to be setups in stores the way there use to be. Where do you suggest I go, or are there other companies like SVS that offer the in home trial period? On that point, is SVS a good solution to start with? I have been looking at them but again without hearing them in person, who knows if I would like them.

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and that's a great question! Looking for brands like SVS that offer the in-home trial period is going to be your best bet. There are quite a few (Aperion Audio and RSL both stick out in my mind), but it's best just to look around and see what different companies offer! Retailers like Amazon and Costco with really good return policies are also great places to start but they might not have a great selection. We think SVS does make some good sounding speakers, but as you mentioned, it's hard to know without hearing them with your own ears. That's why we always recommend auditioning speakers in your own home if possible. Hope this helps!

    GREAT CONTENT CHOICE excellent advice especially for beginners! you hit the nail on the head as far as suggesting buying one good subwoofer and waiting, rather than buying two mediocre subs!
    People underestimate the difference between a mediocre sub and a high-performance sub, ever since I purchased my second sub which happened to be a high performance subwoofer, I don't turn on my first subwoofer any more not unless iam watching movies of course!
    If you enjoy your music just as much as movies may I suggest looking into the REL ti series subwoofer
    With the REL Ti series., the driver's move so fast that rel recommends as well as the low-level input you also so connect the high level input, which entails connecting extra cables from the subwoofer to the stereo speaker binding posts! oh my god I didn't know music could sound this good especially coming through budget stereo speakers, the upgraded Sonic performance in the room is really astonishing!
    Conclusion.
    I'm so glad I decided to purchase a refined subwoofer then purchasing a new pair of stereo speakers!

      Thanks for watching! As we mentioned in the video, we recommend a miniDSP because there are lots of tutorials on UA-cam discussing how to properly EQ your subs with them.

    I can appreciate all you said on everything but the way you speak of all these components you could be at 50k! Too rich for my blood!
