Triumph Rocket fun with Harley Nightster

  • On my way to work recently when a kid on a nice looking Harley Nightster (I think) comes along... Had some fun, I'd just put some new highway pegs on my Rocket and they weren't 100% secure so didn't want to go too nuts!
This is also my first real go at using Final Cut Pro...not too bad an effort even if I do say so myself!
The music I found on UA-cam, by Downpitched ... sorry for no other audio, mic wasn't yet setup... hope you enjoy though!

No matter what you ride. Just shut up n ride. No class distinctions amongst cruisers, sportsbikes, standards, adventure bikes, etc. This is the essence of riding. Friendship, brotherhood n just having fun no matter what you ride..

Well said Bob. I've been riding for 48 years, I've had 5 Harleys, 2 BMWs, 2 Nortons, a Kawasaki1100 a Yamaha 1300 and 2 Triumphs. I would never criticize anyone's bike. Even if you can only afford a moped, it's more fun than 4 wheels.

Yeah it is a world of difference on an R3 plus the mid mount controls are a different feel. The video just shows youre the more CAUTIOUS and MATURE rider. In my career ive seen too many gorey accidents involving motorcyclists. Seeing blood oozing from a helmet has a long lasting affect on people. Take care of that beast and if youre in houston, ill try and keep up with ya for a cool TRIUMPH photo opportunity!

Evo........I own a 2009 HD NIGHTSTER 1200 with arlen ness intake, vance n hines exhaust, screamin eagle clutch kit and its pretty damn quick. I have tried to run neck and neck with a rocket lll before but theres no way in hell i couldve kept up or beat that thing. Bottom end was my only advantage off the line but as soon as I exit 1st gear....the rocket was already in front of me. Now I own a brand new TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD 1600 and its such a world of difference compared to harley. Its a thrill to ride and its got lots of power on tap but its nothing compared to the rocket lll. If I was taller and my pockets were deeper, id be purchasing a rocket by now. Totally hatin on ya! Ride safe brother

haha, yeah that T-bird is sweet, I trid one out but didn't find it very comfortable, compared with all the other Triumph cruisers…strangely. The R3 fits nicely, but yeah I can't imagine being any shorter (I'm 6'1") and riding it…the bars on full lock are a long way away!
It's rare I even open up the throttle 100% to be honest, and didn't even in this video…regardless, that Harley was quick that I had to actually think about what gear I was in!
      you too man, ride safe!

I test road a Rocket when they first came out and was very impressed. I actually had gone to try a Thruxton which was a major disappointment after the R3. Now have an Electraglide ultra and no way would I challenge an R3 unless the road had a lot of curves. Real nice video and I subscribed because of it. Still love the R3.

Got rid of my Ultra so I could get a beefed up R3... not a harley in the valley that can catch me after 50 mph... I go out looking for Hayabusa's now just to have some competition... 8-)

If you nit-wits would just read the description, you'd see that the only reason he put music in over the audio was because he does not yet have a mic set up.

evo moto We know the risks, we pay our money, and we make our choices. In summer I ride in jeans (which won't do much) with a leather jacket, or sometimes a hoody, orrrr just a shirt. It isn't anybody else's business but mine.
Granted, I wouldn't if I were riding spiritedly... And certainly not like the guy on the Harley, who was riding like a pillock, and giving motorcyclists a bad name.
I'd wager many of the finger-waggers on here drive without a seatbelt because it's legal where they come from. It's just as stupid IMO.

But hey, I do appreciate you typing like a grown up. A lot of people giving their opinion try top act tough by cussing and swearing and calling names. yeah he pulls away as I was taking it easy round that bend…I've had cars pull into the left lane on me on that corner before so am always cautious there…caught up to him quickly enough though :)

3:20, when you decide to lead and run out of road lol, hate it when cages slow my rocket down :(
Recently had the freeway open and got to bury the needle using a custom delimited tune, it's shocking how stable the R3R is up around 160, more stable than my sportbike by far!

tcclaviger ah hahaha, yeah right? I forgot at that second i was on the 4' wide Rocket and not my Daytona which would have fit through the gap!
I need to remap mine again, I thought I de-limited it but I still top out at 120…you use TuneECU?

Forgot to mention that when you play with a Harley it probably isn't stock, many Harley owners drop an extra $500. to open the exhaust and intake which changes them greatly. Harley deaalers make this very easy, with parts that bolt on, just don't let them sell you the 2K tuneup.

The worst thing you can do with a bike video is lay music over the top. We want to hear the engine! Nice vid though. That Harley wasn't bad either.

      @Dumptheclutchevo  10 років тому

Oh I hear ya…unfortunately the quality of the audio was not good, and couldn't hear much more than wind noise…my more recent videos you can hear the engine much more clearly…but that's really the only reason I put music over it all. :)

That looked like a sportster 48? It even had the inverted mirrors and drag bar. They're pretty stout bikes too. I'd like to "play" with one sometime on my '12 fz8. I slaughter my friends victory hammer but it's all in good fun. Great video though, good to see different bikes out just having fun and respecting each other's rides. A bike is a bike to me, I'll ride with anybody as long as they're not idiots.

+Ribin Robin I was working in London and got offered a job in NYC back in '98… couldn't say no to that, ended up staying.
Riding here is awesome, but the drivers are terrifying…it's definitely safer in that respect back in the UK, much more technical there for riding, more full leather days than here. Each has it's merits though
Where in the UK are you?

Harley rider has very poor technics. Inexperienced riders do that little "wobble" he does on a straight line. Need to envision your path and execute. He guesses every move while the triumph rider is more predictable. Ride safe guys
