what about at a smaller scale? Could you make a sort of shape conforming sleeve using a lattice tiny auxetic mechanisms under spring tension? Could you make that sleeve dynamic, able to follow and accommodate complex movements like those of a human limb?
If you’re interested in animated shows I recommend watching RWBY, where every character’s weapon transforms between seemingly unrelated devices. Like a shield that collapses into a sheath, or a sniper rifle that expands into a scythe. I’m actually interested in this topic to try to replicate those things in real life
