The event was organized by Wilmington, California-based Greg Lontayao, one of the system’s senior instructors, who brought representatives from four of his six schools to the celebration. Seven other groups attended the event and demonstrated for the grandmaster: John Taeza’s kali school; Benny Albios’ Oahu kali school; Honolulu-based Snookie Sanchez and his talented group; escrima instructor Joey Delmar of Honolulu, the successor to the late Raymond Tabosa, and her students; Rudy Orland and his Oahu group; Eduardo Pedoy and his students from Honolulu; Frank Mamalias and his Oahu based students; and 71-year old Ciriaco Canete , who came all the way from Cebu City, Philippines and concluded the program with a demonstration of his doce pares system and escrido, a combination of escrima and aikido.

Glad to see this video. GM Floro Villabrille is my great grandfather. I'm from the Philippines and the hometown of my grandmother is Cebu, one of the provinces located in Visayas. My grandfather Rafael Villabrille (younger brother of my grandmother Felicisima Villabrille) asked me to search information about Villabrille relatives in the US such as Floro and Rafael (another person). I saw information about the student of GM Villabrille, which is Ben Largusa. Our family here in the Philippines just wanted to find and connect with our relatives living in the US. Just wondering if anyone could be of help. Thank you.
My grandmother is Felicisima Villabrille her daughter is my mother.. I never knew that my Lola has a younger brother??
I just learned of Kali yesterday and I am obsessed with your great grandfathers story and seeing more of this martial art!

What a legend
This is just one of many occasions my Father Professor Greg Lontayao Organized a celebration for Grandmaster Villabrille’s birthday. He invited all the local Filipino Masters and Instructors and their students and most were afiliated to GM Villabrille and they all Honored him in not missing the opportunity to show their respect. Everyone showed up and yes so did Grandmaster Cacoy Canete.
I myself stood behind Grandmaster Villabrille and will never forget what I witnessed on that day.

What no comments here? I see Gm Cacoy..this is a rare video seeing Gm Villabrille i only read him in a book before of escrimadors.
I've never met gm villabrille I've read about him I trained some Kali I learnd. To recognize his art what blew my mind his death matches no protection hard heavy stick he was a true grand master I've learnd just the basics of his art I've met lucky lucay and ted lucay both passed I still remember lucky teaching a class and writing every thing down so I don't forget the art I was lucky to see!
