The John Hanna character in these movies is one of my favorite horror characters of all time in how he subverts a lot of tropes. He plays a swindling coward, which typically is cannon fodder in horror. But he always manages to weasel his way out of impending doom and comes back for his family.

The sequel to this movie - _The_ _Mummy_ _Returns_ - is also worth watching and provides background for the characters. The third movie in the series - _Tomb_ _of_ _the_ _Dragon_ _Emperor_ - is not very good, however.

Hi Ket & Kot!😊 The bugs are Scarab Beetles. This film and the sequel "The Mummy Returns" (2001) are both good films. After that they recast Rachel Weisz in the third film and it wasn't as good IMO. Great reactions to your first modern Mummy film, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.
Side trivia:
1. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading the Book Of The Dead and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish.
2. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster, but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move.
Yeah man I watched this and the e sequel in theaters. Very enjoyable ❤

Fun Fact: The library disaster was done in one take. It would have taken an entire day to re-shoot if a mistake had been made.
That's Hot Fact: With the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, and panties, Patricia Velasquez's costume consists entirely of body paint, which took four hours to apply. The white nightgown Rachel Weisz wore when the ship was attacked became transparent when it got wet and had to be digitally painted white during post production so the film could keep its PG-13 rating. The Medjai were originally supposed to be tattooed from head to toe, but Stephen Sommers vetoed it because he thought Oded Fehr was "too good-looking" to be covered up.
Historical Fact: Imhotep is a real historic figure, but he wasn't the High Priest of Pharaoh Seti I; he was the architect who developed the first pyramids in ancient Egypt, most notably the Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser at Saqqara around 2600 BC. His ability was such that he was later said to have descended from the gods. His name means "one who comes in peace" and as far as anyone knows, he was not a despised villain as portrayed in the movie, but much more likely revered as the architect and physician he was. Seti I was a real pharaoh, but he ruled around 1300 BC, almost 1300 years after Imhotep had died. Anuk-sun-amun was an Egyptian princess who was half-sister (and wife) to Pharaoh Tutankhamun. They lived in the mid-1300s BCE, decades before Seti I's rule. When King Tutankhamen's tomb was found on November 4, 1922, the person in charge was Howard Carter, who was employed and funded by George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon. Carnarvon's daughter, Lady Evelyn Herbert accompanied Carter to Egypt to view the discovery. Rachel Weisz's character is named Evelyn Carnahan. Originally, her character was meant to be Evelyn Carnarvon. She and her brother were to be the children of the "cursed" Lord Carnarvon. The only evidence of this left in the film is in the line where Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) tells O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) that her father was a "very, very famous explorer" and novelization goes into a bit more detail on her back story.

This was a great comedy action film. The gold at the end is because they have the camels that Bennie was using. The joys of being a UA-cam reactor all the people coming for you in the comments. Got a recommendation for you. Another action comedy called "Team America" done with puppets by the creators of South Park.
The actress who played Anck-su-namun was a supermodel in the early 90’s and was like the only openly gay model back then.
The dude on this channel is annoying, but I like the dame, and I really appreciate not seeing the typical reaction intro gay bullshit, just right to the movie, the way it should be done.
