ST Avenger like Jalter and Lobo would be ideal to use against him, for their buff block (jalter) & buff removal (lobo). At least you can endure more hit that way, since his buff stacked crits can kill avenger.
This guy is one of the few servants that trivializes almost any hard content by himself, including Gilfest. All Hail Kars, the most fabulous Phantom Thief.

QSH + two Merlins = premier road-seekers for new contents. QSH + Merlin + Jeanne= ultimate stall party. Got him early on JP and he's simply so busted that he shouldn't be treated as an defensive servant, he's just as capable to be used offensively. Just to make sure the opponent doesn't have Invincibility Pierce and you should be supplying enough stars for him. Also, Jun Fukuyama's voice is just as majestic as ever, like a certain masked guy. That's more than enough to roll for him. Oh, but when you fight him in LB3 he'll probably destroy you. Even if you bring Avengers.

Best Combo with Shi is (in my humble Oppinion): Waver and Tamamo All Three can stall the Enemy, Tamamo provides healing, Shi protects them, Waver gives NP and Buffs to the Team, Tamamo shortens the Cooldowns, ... In short, it's very good. It's so good in Fact i used it against Shi Huang Di in his own bossfight and only lost Waver after knocking down the Last bar, which removes all Buffs from you
Really conflicted if I should roll for him or save for Jalter On one hand, I already have Cu Alter as my Buster beatstick; but on the other, Jalter was the reason I got into FGO in the first place
The best ruler in the game, at least until Himiko comes out. Would roll for him, but the 4*s on his banner are pretty bad (even after JP buffs), and I wanna save for Beni-Enma / Sign of Smiling Face

@Dmon Blu I disagree with that, Super Orion defs outdeals damage compared to Mothman, but Mothman shuts down enemy turns completely when he NPs unless its aoe, and can still hit like a truck. They have different usages imo, Super Orion is great if you need to kill shit faster, and debuff immunity is great, Mothman meanwhile just shits on longer fights.

Shi huang di is a far better pointman for a comp where also being tanky af is helpful, such as cqs that have insane card damage, and super orion is better when you don't care too much about defence is merlin invul is enough to be all you really need, and damage is more important.
So here is how to get Shi: Roll Jeanne. Clear her np interlude to remove self-stun. Make her stun aoe. Let her NP on demand. Replace her utterly useless second skill with Waver NP. Add a free crit servant. There you go. Since I recently got her, I do wonder, what niche Jeanne is supposed to fill. As I see it, Merlin does everything Jeanne can, but much better, aside from if you really need invincibility every 3rd turn, in which case Jeanne is outclassed by both Shi and Castoria.
Yeah Jeanne really didn't age well. She really needs more buffs to make her worthwhile. Her main claim to fame aside from everything that Merlin and Castoria can do better is that she's tanky, but then Shi Huangdi does that better than she does. I feel like her niche is slowly starting to be eroded. They did recently buff her second skill to give a decent def down, but she needs more than that to save her.
I agree with the point about him not being able to generate enough crit stars on his own from having only one quick card. If you're going to use him in a solo context, he definitely needs a 2030 or some star gen buffing command codes. On his own, it's going to be hard for him to crit consistently because the star absorb on his noble phantasm evenly distributes any stars he makes. But if you put him in a team with some good supports (cough cough double Merlin), he's practically unstoppable.
Shi huang di, teamed up with BB, is a legitimately terrifying combination. You can lock either hand type, and the crit stars and their "selfish" self buffs, go surprisingly well, with their few "team" skills (faceless moon and buried scholars respectively). Toss a tamamo or a hans on their team and you get buffs to an insane degree.
in a way, 2030 is also another CE that is good with him for solos. with the pure hp stat for more survivability and help in getting enough stars to crit since generating stars alone is his problem
Mothman is the top servant to get this year. Easy skill and ascension mats and he can carry you through a lot of hard content practically on his own. If you are a new player, He is the one servant that releases this year that you need to pull. The only Ruler I'd put above him is Himiko (for two very big reasons) and she's 2 years out for NA.
this is it, the servant i mostly waited this entire year. Friggin Ivan coming out of order costed me 120 quartz but i still have at least 6-7 multis for Shi Huang Di EDIT: fucking got it with 5 tickets and 1 multi. Feels good.

And umm, I had him at my Top 3 targets for 2020 with Waver and Archer Artoria and well, I had Waver rolling for Cu Alter last month, and while rolling for this guy, I got OG Artoria first. I think you forgot to mention Hans when it came to crit dps supports, since he buffs stargen with his NP, has passive stargen and NP charge per tun with his future buff and also more attack and defense buffs
I think I've just used up all my luck for the next couple of months. Today was the last day for the banner and I decided to spend 3 tickets to get my tickets down to a multiple of 5. I got the Emperor himself on the third ticket. I've never been so fucking happy rolling in this game before holy shit.
You summarized it perfectly, SoberOni: very, VERY strong, but it can lead to an awkward playstyle, since you often have to choose if using him offensively or defensively. Also, he doesn't generate the stars he needs (unlike others servants with a self buff NP in the future). In addition to that, you'll use him only in challenge and story quests (and even then, often there are better choices than him, depending on your strategies).
Defense Debuff (x1.2 damage modifier) and Attack buff (x1.3 damage modifier) don’t add up to 1.5 times, but to 1.56. That means it’s actually 56% more damage from just the first two skills, not 50%. Not that different, but still.
A great review as always, thank you for all the work you put into making these. For the 70% stun chance, is there a chance that some enemies will resist the stun and some won't, or is it a hit or miss across the entire party?
It's a separate 70% chance for each enemy so some can resist it while others get hit. Landing it on all 3 enemies at the same time is very unlikely unless you can buff his debuff success rate with Caster Gil

Nope. NP levels only increase the effect potency or damage of your NPs. Most additional effects are activated via Overcharge, which you can easily do via having your servant go second or third on an NP chain or certain CEs.
Wasn't planning to roll for him, because I generally don't do solos. After finishing the LB story, I decided to give him exactly one multiroll because he made me laugh during his first appearance as mothman. He showed up on the very first card. Now I don't know what to do with him, because those 60 Cores are brutal.
That feeling when your GSSR luck nets you one of the most busted recent Servants, and you don’t have nearly enough embers for him. Seriously, somehow managing to get both Mothman and Summer BB on GSSR is both a blessing in that they’ll both be incredibly helpful when they’re finished later and a curse in that it’ll take ages to scrape together enough embers for them with how infrequently I play. Is this what it means to suffer from success?
Update: Amassed free total to 300 sq and bought another 150. Nothing. Two days later I get my 1250 days SQ drop. Got him plus Astolfo to NP5. Absolutely legendary pull. No regrets.
Despite I may or may not get them in NA. I truly feel blessed getting them on JP during the 21M Download Milestone Celebration Campaign they were in. Lots of solos and critical hits for weeks.

Mothman is the top servant to get this year. Easy skill and ascension mats and he can carry you through a lot of hard content practically on his own.
If you are a new player, He is the one servant that releases this year that you need to pull. The only Ruler I'd put above him is Himiko (for two very big reasons) and she's 2 years out for NA.

I think you forgot to mention Hans when it came to crit dps supports, since he buffs stargen with his NP, has passive stargen and NP charge per tun with his future buff and also more attack and defense buffs
I think I've just used up all my luck for the next couple of months. Today was the last day for the banner and I decided to spend 3 tickets to get my tickets down to a multiple of 5. I got the Emperor himself on the third ticket. I've never been so fucking happy rolling in this game before holy shit.

You summarized it perfectly, SoberOni: very, VERY strong, but it can lead to an awkward playstyle, since you often have to choose if using him offensively or defensively. Also, he doesn't generate the stars he needs (unlike others servants with a self buff NP in the future).
In addition to that, you'll use him only in challenge and story quests (and even then, often there are better choices than him, depending on your strategies).
Defense Debuff (x1.2 damage modifier) and Attack buff (x1.3 damage modifier) don’t add up to 1.5 times, but to 1.56. That means it’s actually 56% more damage from just the first two skills, not 50%. Not that different, but still.

There is that chance, I believe
It's a separate 70% chance for each enemy so some can resist it while others get hit. Landing it on all 3 enemies at the same time is very unlikely unless you can buff his debuff success rate with Caster Gil

Nope. NP levels only increase the effect potency or damage of your NPs. Most additional effects are activated via Overcharge, which you can easily do via having your servant go second or third on an NP chain or certain CEs.
He came to me yesterday with a ticket. I love him! He even left me with enough tickets to np2 Ozzy!

After finishing the LB story, I decided to give him exactly one multiroll because he made me laugh during his first appearance as mothman. He showed up on the very first card. Now I don't know what to do with him, because those 60 Cores are brutal.

That feeling when your GSSR luck nets you one of the most busted recent Servants, and you don’t have nearly enough embers for him.
Seriously, somehow managing to get both Mothman and Summer BB on GSSR is both a blessing in that they’ll both be incredibly helpful when they’re finished later and a curse in that it’ll take ages to scrape together enough embers for them with how infrequently I play.

Despite I may or may not get them in NA. I truly feel blessed getting them on JP during the 21M Download Milestone Celebration Campaign they were in. Lots of solos and critical hits for weeks.
