    people don't see it as such because it's the least obvious form of abuse but financial isolation almost always leads to social isolation. • @thegrimlooper
      @thegrimlooper Рік тому +132

      For people like this, they dont want to break up. They want to completely control them, and usually they dont intend to kill them- but it ends that way because the aggressor really needs help to deal with their emotions. But the second you kill or really hurt someone, usuallly there’s no going back.

      In this case? This seems like drinking & very unhealthy patterns, a murder of passion in the moment. But more broadly, I think about that all the time, especially in relation to data that we have. Men murder women in huge numbers in America, & they often seem pretty confident that they will get away with it. We have good data that says they way we raise boys & girls, from elementary school & moving forward, we "encourage" boys to be confident & self assured, & we "encourage" women to stay quiet, & feel a lot of self doubt. As adults, many men think they are smarter & more capable than they really are, when tested. And many women don't feel as intelligent & capable as they really are. So, I often wonder how many women & kids would be alive if men had a better understanding of just how incapable they are of succeeding in their murders?

When I heard the news, I didn't cry, although I was in shock. Who knows about this woman, but I would say its not that unusual for a grieving person to think about something that was supposed to happen that now won't be happening. I've seen that with break ups dozens of times, but I've been sober for over 15 years & sadly, I've watched many people I know in sobriety lose people they know as well, from accidental overdoses, intentional suicide, & some others. Its not unusual to think about things you thought would happen & now won't be happening, & feel like its kind of a cosmic joke at your own expense.

When I got a call about my mom was about to pass away at the hospital, I called one of my best friends who I also worked as a caregiver for and had panic because I couldn't work my next shift due to that. I was SO focused on that, while she started to cry because of my mom. When something really tragic and sudden happens, your brain can focus on smaller issues to try and cope. It's like trying to protect you from a problem it thinks is too overwhelming.

      I mainly wanted to say this because I think we go into these stories biased. We know someone was already found guilty, so it's easy for us to sit here and be hyper critical with everything they say and move they make. But I think we as people watching and commenting need to be a little cautious with "isn't that weird" "that was crazy" when it comes to how people respond to trauma. While she's guilty, she probably is responding from a place of trauma a place other people (innocent people) have also responded from in similar manners.
      Just my 2 cents as someone who hated themselves for years for worrying about my car for a second because my brain couldn't handle the fact the most important person in my life had been taken from me.

If my wife dies, no matter circumstances, and then I think of something we had planned together, I'd probably become as emotional if not more then as well. Of course she may be guilty af but, for me personally, this wouldn't be a red flag🤷🏿‍♀️

    I was surprised the plea deal was for 25 years to begin with because it seemed like second degree murder anyways. But yeah it's crazy that being found guilty she gets less time than if she had just plead guilty. I feel so bad for Matthew. She was clearly the abuser and aggressor in the relationship and I think the attention she got from being a cam model went to her head. Most anyone could make money doing x rated material so sit down girl you're not as special as you think you are! She now has 20 years to sit and think about what she did and I hope she comes to terms with all that's wrong with her and turns her life around. My heart goes out to all of Matthew's family and loved ones.

    I'm not giving her any excuses because what she did is horrific, but everyone has a different reaction from finding out about the death of a loved one.
    The couch thing could be a normal emotional response to a traumatic loss, like when my dad died (I was 20, I'm 28 now) and I went home from school after being told about it on the phone, I literally cried about the fact that his bath towels were still hanging untouched in the bathroom and how he would never get to use them again, and how the dog was going to be sad and "who's gonna take Cookie on hikes now ?"since my dad was his favorite human and was the one who always did the most long actual hikes with him... my sister was 18 and crying her eyes out, and I was in such disbelief and in shock I couldn't cry or be angry or anything, I was just blank, like an emotional void, and I probably passed as "cold" and "not caring" to the rest of the family, obviously I was devastated and extremely sad but it didn't show as much on the outside

    Girl imma be real with you this thumbnail is distasteful. The cgi blood splatter on the victim in the thumbnail is actually triggering and disrespectful AF. I've had many friends die over the years, some murdered. Some of them even made national news (such as my classmate Jeremy Rourke who was killed after a baseball game by his teammate). I would be absolutely livid, triggered, and feel completely disrespected if a content creator made a video about my friends who died in violent ways, and they added CGI blood splatter over their photo in the thumbnail. You're usually cognisant of being respectful to the victims and their family, so I'm actually shocked you would think this thumbnail is in good taste. Please be more self aware and considerate in the future.

    You can clearly tell most people in these comments have no idea how the mind of an abuser and murdered is! People really are saying she is mourning him...smh!
    She is trying to make people feel sorry or her by crying and have all these behaviours to get away with it! She's trying to garther empathy!
    She literally did not and won't ever care about Matthew's feelings and if she's feeling sorry for anyone else, it's or herself that she got caught!
    Now I don't know if the ignroance in these comments is displayed out of ignorance about the many ways killers and abusers act, or just because she's a woman, and there are actually people who go out of their way to defend women, regardless of how toxic and criminal they act!
    Anyway, you people need to stop living in delusion!

    I would like point something out. I myself have severe PTSD, and you mentioned several times how you didn’t know if it was a trauma response the way she acted in the interrogation room, and I can tell you with my PTSD, if I am triggered and reliving something, I act just like that. I’m fidgety, I bounce topics rapidly and go on rants, I have panic attacks and then shut, I blurt out random things (like how she pointed out her leg shaking), the speed I talk speeds up or slows down, etc. it’s entirely possible that she may genuinely not know what happened. Also, her talking to herself. I have been around a lot of people with psychosis, and it can look a lot like that. Talking to the air, talking to yourself, or the change in her voice as if it was a little girl talking. While I have PTSD and i have never anyone because of it, I can say that she may have either felt unable to stop it, or done it and immediately forgot. There is no excuse for what she did, and PTSD is no justification for anything. However, growing up in an abusive household could have shaped her personality and to me, in that interrogation, she looks very confused and alarmed. Also, the photo album makes sense to me as well. If I’m in a bad state, I hyper fixate on things, and for her it may have been needing that photo album, I.E. something sentimental

    • @k_a_y_l_e_e
      @k_a_y_l_e_e Рік тому

      with all due respect, as someone who also has ptsd, this does not look like ptsd to me. at least not any ptsd that i've experienced. i'll give you probable psychosis, but this looks like something far more pathological that ptsd in my non-medical opinion.

    • @dylanagoblin9298
      @dylanagoblin9298 10 місяців тому +1

      I also have PTSD and the interrogation reminded me a lot of when I was interviewed by the police for an incident that happened to me when I was a child. The interview was recently. When I was really bad I used to hyper fixate in my room on photos, like my photo album of Polaroids of good times-and something about this just really resonated with me. I’m obviously not a professional but she reminded me of my mannerisms as someone with PTSD. All of that being said she is an evil person who did an evil thing, unrelated to any mental illness she may have. The screaming on the video was horrendous. But in a human way, I resonate with her interview.
