The Sweeney's Granada was actually a Consul GT,
Regan: "Ere George. You ever fancied a gaff in the country?"
Carter: "Wot on a copper's bunce? Leave it out guv!"

They HAVE to get that Mayflower driving my Grandmothers friend owned one. Her name was Gertie and she had been a racing driver before the war and then spent the war at Bletchley park. Gertie never married but was such a character she was always Hareing around Shropshire in sports cars mostly but kept the Mayflower in pristine condition, it obviously had great sentimental value! I remember when as a youngster she used to tell us stories (not sure if they were true) it seemed to bring things to life, in a daring slightly naughty way, but she loved her cars.
Old cars are memories for sure, great Channel Thanks for posting and I look forward to the MGC resto

Fantastic look around. For me it was the pink Vauxhall Cresta. Pink is not ideal for most cars but I think it did suit the Cresta. The Triumph Mayflower is also one that should be on display because they are so different from all the others of that period. I seem to remember them being called 'The Gentleman's razor edged saloon.' Not a slogan that would be popular today of course.

Hi Steph, I totally agree with you - the Triumph Mayflower is a MUST. You HAVE to take it out for a test drive - I've always loved them and always wanted one. I'm 69 now and would still love one. PLEASE get one to test ! Great video as always Steph - take care 🙂

Hiya Steph. It's been three months since I met you and Ian at the NEC Classic Motor Show, and I loved going there and seeing all the great cars, and I haven't got over it!!! I see that you've got two Vauxhalls that you've test driven, the yellow Astra 1 and the reddish brown Chevette, I also saw in the film a blue Chrysler Avenger with a black vinyl roof, a Ford Sierra Sapphire and that classic Ford Granada from TV's The Sweeney. The Classic Car & Restoration Show's only less than six weeks away, so I look greatly forward to going there and meeting you and other motoring journos. By the way, I saw an original splitscreen Morris Minor yesterday lunchtime in the parking lot of the Merry Hill shopping centre, it was registered KWV 877, it dated from 1953-54, the body colour was pale blue.

The milkfloat is awesome, I do miss them doing thier rounds. The milkfloat bus idea is very doable, the town of Polperro in Cornwall uses converted floats as shuttle buses between the car/coach park and village centre. You and Fred would really enjoy pottering down there in Nancy then getting a ride on the milkfloat to the pasty shop 😊

What an interesting collection and such a treat to be able to wander around looking at such a diverse selection of vehicles. I wondered if I might see a Riley Kestrel 1100 (having seen the 1300GT and the Vanden Plas)....I owned one back in the 1980's which was my first proper car - that Riley was my pride and joy with the leather seats and walnut dash 😍

Some great cars there in this behind the scenes video. I have to agree with you that the Triumph Mayflower is a lovely car. The lines are so majestic and you could feel you are in something much more expensive. The milk float is nostalgia itself. Thanks Steph for this slightly different video for a Sunday. 👍👍

My favourite would be that MK1 Granada GXL. My brother had several back in the day, the best was a black coupe Ghia. Very rare. Never got to drive one but would still like to have a go. See they have a MK2 A40 which I did have and it ran brilliantly but the rust had a severe hold on it and would've cost too much to restore.

Hello Steph and Ian, seeing the blue "indie" car, which reminded me that my (late) cousin who lived in Manchester use to work in a garage where these were serviced and refurbished, and if one was road legal and a runner we use to collect the fish and chips on a Friday lunch time, the engine could be "tuned" slightly which gave it a bit more acceleration and a slightly better top speed - but left a blue smoke screen behind - wonderful memories! coming back from delivering the morning papers when a youngster, living in Blackburn with some steep hills, the morning milk man use to give me a lift sitting on the back, up some of the hills so I would not be too tired out!! Great video!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire

I have a suspicion a lot of these milk floats, maybe not this one, were rebodied with modern looking bodywork. Talking of Electric vehicles don't for get the Trolleybuses which collected their 'fuel' from overhead wires at around 600 volts DC. I had driven these excellent vehicles, in the past, as a volunteer at a local open air museum.

I drove the Avenger & the Imp last Saturday - the latter was brilliantly awful! I'd wanted to try the red A40 as it was my Dad's company car in the '60s, but it's currently not driveable due to what were described as 'issues'.
Once it's available again it'll be a good excuse for a return trip - & I'll also go for the Granada, to experience either end of the '60s/'70s motoring spectrum.
And my first paid job was helping my brother-in-law on his milkround in the summer of 1975. Hard work for a 12 year-old - & you stank like a gone-off yogurt by the end of each morning.
    😅

Wow Steph, videos like this stir up so many fantastic memories. I hate modern cars, if you took the badges off all the new SUV's you would be hard pushed to know who made them. I owned a Daytona yellow Consul 2.5 V6 for a while. My wife hated it to the point that she refused to drive it and wasn't that happy about even being seen in it! Everyone to their own I guess. I thought it was great, it passed everything except petrol stations! My first car was a 1964 Morris Oxford, bought in 1971, interestingly it was already almost terminally rotten (chassis) at only 7 years old. They don't make 'em like they used to, thank God! I am 71 now and trying to restore a BMW E31 840Ci, now there is a car that is stand-out different from the rest. Hope I can get it back on the road some day.

Whar a fabulous collection. I remember my dad having a series 2 Land Rover SWB in dark green ,and my first car was a red 5 door 1987 Austin Metro City that had a flat battery after it rained when my dad fitted a rear wiper. Amazing how few Chevettes and Montegos are left. The Granada and Montego are my favourite. Would they be putting a P6 in? I would want to drive every one of them but I need about £5000 for that. It would be worth every penny though
